133: A Multimodal Approach to
Urologic Dysfunction and Pelvic
Pain
1 contact hour
Emily Dove-Medows, MSN, CNM
Current treatment methods for urologic
dysfunction or pelvic pain are often focused
on only one aspect of care, for example, the
bladder epithelium or vaginal tissue. While
these methods can provide some relief, it is
when they are performed in conjunction with
an array of other treatment modalities that we
have found both increased patient satisfaction and symptom improvement. This presentation will include a discussion about many
different therapies including medications, trigger point injections, and topical treatments.
Amy Hull, MSN, WHNP-BC
The cause of pelvic floor disorders is often
multifactorial, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. This lecture will touch on one aspect
of dysfunction, estrogen deprivation. Discussion will be targeted at informing the participant on the role of estrogen loss and estrogen
therapy options available to minimize the consequences of pelvic floor disorders.

Office

Call for Session Moderators
Your help is needed to assist with speaker
support during the educational sessions. If
you’ve been looking for an opportunity as a
SUNA member to get involved in the organization, this is a great occasion for meeting other
members and welcoming colleagues to the conference. As a session moderator, you will introduce the speaker from the podium, handle A/V
equipment for the speaker, and keep the session on time. There will be an orientation session
for all moderators on Friday, October 31 from
5:00 pm – 5:30 pm. To volunteer, mark your conference registration form or contact the SUNA
National Office at 1-888-TAP-SUNA.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida
To further its commitment to excellence in urologic clinical
practice and research, the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates
formed the SUNA Foundation. The Foundation funds research projects
related to urologic disease or treatment and awards scholarships for
advanced education or specialized training for SUNA members. As SUNA
members explore new research ideas, further their nursing education, and
advance urologic care and treatment, patients will ultimately benefit from
this expanded knowledge and expertise.
Support for the Foundation comes from corporations, SUNA chapters and
members, and those interested in urologic health care. The Foundation is
pleased to offer the eighth fundraising Silent Auction at this Annual Conference.
You can help by donating items for the auction and by coming
to the conference prepared to bid. Many types of items will be accepted for donation including gift baskets, handcrafted items,
medical publications, jewelry, and gift certificates, to name a few.
A list of items to be auctioned will be available at
www.suna.org/Events/Silent Auction. “Winners” will be posted on
the bulletin board in the registration area and items can be picked up
Sunday morning November 2, during Exhibit Hall hours between
9:45am to 11:45am. Cash, check, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or
American Express) will be accepted for winning bids. Your donation is
tax deductible. Items can be shipped through the hotel’s business
center at your expense.
To donate items, download the donation form at
www.suna.org/Foundation, or contact
the SUNA National Office at 888-TAP-SUNA or email suna@ajj.com
