A Testimonial
WRVO will once again be recording a series of
listener testimonials this summer. If you or someone
you know is a WRVO addict, come in and tell us why!
We’ll interview you about your WRVO experience and edit
your responses into a 30 to 60 second spot that will premiere
during our Fall 2009 Fundraiser in October. Our business
hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but we
would be happy to accommodate your schedule if you’re
unavailble to come in at those times.
When you record your testimonial in our Oswego studios,
we’ll also show you around and introduce you to some of the
people you hear everyday and get a behind-the-scenes look
at a working radio station.
You’ll be able to share your thoughts about WRVO with all

Programming Odds ‘n Ends

WRVO has a new Morning Producer/Reporter
WRVO welcomes Ryan Morden as the new Morning
Edition Producer/Reporter. Ryan comes to the Central New
York area from Seattle. He graduated from the University of
Washington with a BA in Journalism and minored in Political
Science and Scandinavian studies. Prior to trading the West
Coast for the East Coast, he covered the Washington state
legislature as a correspondent for the Northwest News
Network. The stories Ryan filed for N3 went out to nine
NPR affiliates in the Northwest, including KUOW in Seattle
and OPB in Portland.
Prior to his work at N3, Ryan worked as an assistant
morning news editor at KIRO radio, a commercial News/
Talk station in Seattle. He joined KIRO in spring of 2007 as
a part time board-op and fill-in talk show producer. During
that time, he produced talk shows for CBS Radio
commentator Dave Ross and Ron Reagan.
Off the clock, Ryan enjoys government & politics, reading
non-fiction and literature from the edges, baseball, road
trips, brew pubs, catching up on TV shows via Hulu and
he’s currently pursuing MBA studies at SUNY-Oswego.
Ryan has settled in well at WRVO and is a fine addition to
our award-winning news department.

It’s the July 4th edition of Politics Takes a Holiday.
Made possible by legislation contained in the Political Satire
Recovery Act of 2009. Good company on WRVO Saturday
July 4 at 12:30pm and Sunday July 5 at 8:00pm.

Community Forum
brings you into the
discussion with a
lively debate about
topics of local
concern. WRVO will
host community
forums on a quarterly
basis.
September – With a tight state budget, and a forecast
for tighter ones ahead, where will that leave the State
University of New York. We examine the state’s budget
impact on the SUNY system.
October – The fall elections will bring a new Syracuse
Mayor. WRVO is planning a Syracuse Mayoral Candidate
Forum. This forum will have discussion on the race with the
candidates just before Election Day 2009.
We’re also putting together our plans for upcoming
community forums. Do you have an idea for a topic? We
are looking for great ideas to bring together the community
with thinkers, experts, and decision makers. Let us know
your ideas or thoughts, by sending us a postcard, calling
our comment line, or sending us a message through
Facebook or Twitter. We would love to hear from you today!
L.A. Theatre Works
Compelling stories by inspiring playwrights set the stage
for headline actors in the national launch of L.A. Theatre
Works. The series will air starting July 4th at 8pm, as part
of the WRVO Playhouse and will continue every Saturday
night for the next year. The series also repeats at 10pm on
Mondays.
And my last program-related reminder is for the Friday
Night Feature, which is made up of documentaries,
debates and sound-rich reporting from the best known
public radio producers. Tune in every Friday night at 8:00.

money any way we can. We currently send out over 5,500
copies of this newsletter and the cost of postage continues
to increase. Beginning with this issue of Listen!, we will

second child Anna Rose Seubert, who was born on May
20th. Anna weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces. Congratulations

Q. How can I listen to WRVO-2?
A. You are able to receive WRVO-2 two ways:
1) Tune to the digital 89.9 signal in the Oswego/Syracuse area with an HD-Radio. Currently only our main transmitter
from Oswego, which broadcasts at 89.9, is sending a digital signal. Only those who receive a reliable 89.9 signal are able
to use the HD Radio. Plans include to upgrade WRVD 90.3 in Syracuse. A time table is not in place yet, because we are
seeking funding for these capital upgrades.
2) Your other option to listen to WRVO-2 is through our website at www.wrvo.fm. WRVO-2 is streamed 24/7 and
anyone with an internet connection is able to hear WRVO-2 online.
