Summer camp programs in 2016 will include traditional day camp
programs, specialty, sports camps, and leadership training programs
for tweens and teens. Our traditional camp programs provide fun,
structured activities focusing on our weekly themes. Daily activities
include group games, a morning free swim and swim lessons, arts
and crafts, team building, nature hikes, archery and more. We are
also restructuring our teen leaders program this year to offer
enhanced leadership training and experiences. All activities and
programs include a focus on character values and provide children
with the opportunity to develop the YMCA core values of caring,
honesty, respect and responsibility in their daily lives.
Our sports camps are accessible to our traditional activities at the
Outdoor Complex, with daily specialty sports activities focusing on
skill development in the afternoons at the YMCA building on State
Street. Sports camps are designed for children who wish to develop
skills in specific sports areas, or would like the opportunity to try
a new sport! All sports camps will begin and end the day at our
Dover YMCA Kent Outdoor Complex site where campers will have
the chance to experience traditional camp activities during the
morning, and will be bused to the building on State Street for sports
activities in the afternoon.
We are excited to introduce some additional specialty camps this
year. Like our sports camp, campers will get to enjoy the mornings
at the Outdoor Complex and enjoy all of the things that traditional
camp has to offer. Campers will then be bussed to the YMCA
building for the specialty camp each day. Once campers get to the Y
they can participate in cheerleading, dancing, martial arts, and many
other activities.
All camp programs include at least one daily swim time, four days
a week, and an exciting weekly field trip. We are confident your
child will enjoy their camp experience at the Dover YMCA. For more
information on summer camp, please contact Susan Thau at
(302) 346-9622, ext. 17 or sthau@ymcade.org.
Happy Camping!

Extended care is available at the Camp Voyager
home at the Dover YMCA Kent Outdoor Complex.
WHY DO YOU NEED MY EMAIL?
You will receive important information and camp
updates via email throughout the summer. The
following may be sent via email: payment schedule
receipts, camp updates, weekly camp newsletter,
and confirmation forms.
HOW ARE CAMPERS GROUPED?
Campers are placed into groups according to their
age. For Sports Camps, age and ability levels will be
considered for grouping purposes.

We ask that all campers arrive by 8:30 a.m. in order
to ensure activities and field trips run on time,
giving all campers the best possible experiences
each day.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?
Comfortable, lightweight clothing and closedtoed sneakers should be worn each day. A towel

will be included in each newsletter. Please note
that for some field trips we may not be arriving
back to the camp until 4:30 p.m. due to travel

for the child.
IDENTIFICATION FOR PICK UP PROCEDURES
