Many of us wish we could paint
like artists Trevor Hawkins and
Tim O’Neill, sing like Lori O’Brien
and perhaps even read minds and
perform stand up magic like Danny
Archer aka Gino Mozzarella. The
bad news is we can’t. The good
news is we have the opportunity
to associate ourselves with these
people and others like them through
Tradebank.

networking events and Tradebank
annual Holiday Expos like Joe
Pierce the owner and artist from
Priceless Pens from Chattanooga;
others are new to Tradebank. The
credentials of these clients are most

etty Carlson is a nationally recognized artist based in Colorado Springs. Carlson joined Tradebank
in February 2010 and is quick to point out the advantages she has experienced as a client who also is a
business owner and artist. “As a member of Tradebank, I enjoy the opportunity to use Tradebank dollars
instead of cash for many of my needs. As a professional artist for over 25 years, barter has helped me
in many ways. Travel is one of my business expenses, either for marketing of my work or for going to
different areas to gather source material for paintings. Being able to get hotels and restaurants through
barter enables me to make these trips more profitable because I don’t have to use my cash reserves,”
Carlson explains.
She continues, “Advertising is also an important tool in generating sales for artists. I have used trade
dollars to have a website created and for magazine and radio ads, and for printing. Framing is also a
large expense and I have been able to obtain high quality frames through barter.
“It is great to be able to sell art to someone who really desires my artwork and then use the Tradebank
Dollars on anything that I might desire. I use Tradebank Dollars with local businesses such as my
beautician, electrician, window and carpet cleaner, house cleaner, at restaurants and with many more
desired businesses. I even had my income tax returns prepared on barter. My husband and I have been
able to go on special vacations that we would not have taken without barter.”
Carlson creates colorful paintings of the West and Southwest in contemporary oils and watermedia. Her
award winning artwork is nationally recognized and is in galleries across the US. Her work has received

“There are so many opportunities to benefit from Tradebank. One just has to get involved, interact with
other Tradebank members, and use your energy and imagination,” summarizes Carlson.

Artist: Sharon Ingram
Harpeth Art Center and Gallery, located near
Nashville, is another unique Tradebank client. Harpeth
is the home to Mud Puddle Pottery Studio and seven
other artists who are also part of Tradebank. Sharon
and Randy Ingram, owners of Harpeth Art Center &
Gallery and Mud Puddle Pottery, had been familiar
with Tradebank for a long time before joining. Over
the years Sharon had witnessed the success that
her brother and others had experienced as long time
Tradebank clients. “Then, back in 2008, a Tradebank
client approached me and said his wife would love
to take art classes from me and he wanted to pay
for the classes through Tradebank. So we joined.
Our business has been growing ever since; teaching
classes, doing private parties and of course selling
pottery.”
In November 2009 Mud Puddle moved to a 7,000
square foot facility in an old historic building that the
Ingrams named Harpeth Art Center and Gallery. They
chose the name commemorating the history of the
building, the area and the nearby river. The Ingrams
invited other well known area artists to teach and sell
their artwork in the gallery along with them. “Very
soon it became apparent that Tradebank clients were
not only interested in pottery, but also wanted to
purchase art and take classes from the other artists as well. We worked with the Nashville Tradebank office
and now we are able to offer artwork and classes of potters, artisan jewelers, sculptors, glass, copper and
fiber artists, as well as painters who are now all a part of Tradebank,” says Sharon Ingram.
Sharon Ingram, the owner of Mud Puddle Pottery has been creating functional pottery for over 25 years.
In 2004 Ingram opened Mud Puddle Pottery Studio specializing in the creation and instruction of stoneware
pottery. She teaches wheel and hand building in clay techniques. Her work is as diverse as it is beautiful.
Her Tradebank clients now include the Nashville Opera, who recently commissioned Ingram to make unfired
pitchers to be smashed during performances. The Kandle Kitchen is another unique way that is combining
art along with their poured candle business. Custom serving pieces for some of Nashville’s finest restaurants
on Tradebank are also on the agenda. Another non-traditional offering is custom urns for cremation ashes,
which some include personalized sculptural elements and plaques made to order. Ingram plans to use the
exposure and revenue Tradebank provides to help Muddle Puddle expand even further.

Rose Reed Littrell
Rose Reed Littrell’s art work is deeply
rooted in her love of all animals, especially
horses. The Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville
features 15 of her life-size realistic and
caricature sculptures of horses and cows.
Littrell’s work has been sold and exhibited
from San Antonio to New York City. Each
piece of her art reflects a special love, gift,
and talent. Actress Kirstie Alley owns one
of Littrell’s sculptures and her work is sold
in the famous toy store, FAO Schwartz, in
New York City.

Chaffin
Teva Chaffin uses yesterday’s minerals and
transforms them into treasures for today.
Chaffin is one of only 22 senior instructors in
the nation who is certified to teach precious
metal clay techniques. PMC is a fine silver
clay that once fired turns into silver. Chaffin’s
jewelry has natural gemstones in polished
or rough forms. Whether Chaffin is using
sterling or fine silver, she incorporates a
unique art form into each jewelry piece she
creates.
Each of these artists is based at Harpeth
Art Center and Gallery and accepts
Tradebank Dollars. They are all unique,
talented and renowned in the national and
international art community. In addition
to selling their art at Harpeth, they also
offer classes teaching their craft.

Ben
Caldwell
Ben Caldwell describes his work, “I
hammer, raise, and chase by
hand exceptional metal clothing,
jewelry, serving pieces, vessels,
and sculptures using traditional
metalsmithing techniques. The
time consuming process of
making each and every part by
hand results in metal couture that
is strong, timeless, one-of-a-kind,
and beautiful.” Caldwell’s copper
work is owned by Martha Stewart
and he was commissioned to
create a wedding gift for Amy
Grant and Vince Gill. Caldwell
has been featured in “Town and
Country” and “Southern Living”
magazines. HGTV filmed and
did a segment for their show “Our
Place” in his studio featuring
Caldwell crafting his work. He
has received numerous national
awards.
Regina Davidson
Laura
McWhorter
“Unique textiles handcrafted ‘from the ground up’” is how
Laura McWhorter describes her work. Foundations in Felt
takes traditional textile arts in a new direction by combining
felting, handspinning, knitting, weaving, embroidery
and beading to craft one-of-a-kind bags, wearables and
artwork. One of the most versatile traits of hand felting is
that pieces can be created in three dimensions by using
various patterns or forms on which to create the felt.
McWhorter then creates hats, purses and vessels using
her various hand dyed felts.
Regina Davidson has had her murals on display
in numerous Nashville show homes and has
made five appearances on the Home and Garden
channel to demonstrate her painting abilities.
In addition, Davidson creates paintings that
include wood and twine, photograph transfers,
and textured stoneware using her faux finish
techniques. Davidson also applies her creations
to walls, ceilings, moldings, and furniture in
residential and commercial locations.
Francesca Faucette
Sylvanye
Roh
Sylvanye Roh, of Designs by Sylvanye creates handmade
fused glass jewelry, desktop items, sconces, dishware,
clocks, vases, candle votives and much more. Her work
is found around the world in gift shops, studios and
fine art galleries, including the Renwick Gallery of the
Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. Soon she will
be offering MicroKiln Jewelry tutorials and workshops via
Skype.
According to Sharon Ingram, jewelry artisan
Francesca Faucette “is the guru of wire wrapped
jewelry”. Faucette creates bold, expressive
jewelry for men and women with precious metals
and gemstones which are handcrafted into artisan
jewelry. Her techniques include wire wrapping,
fusing and soldering, metalsmithing, weaving and
precious metal clays.

Artist: Brook White, Jr.
For Brook White Jr. the art of glassblowing is magic, pure and simple.
“My discovery of glass blowing was
an epiphany and my choice to pursue
it full-time was life-altering. Hot glass is magical, and I
was spellbound from the moment I first encountered it at
Centre College,” White recalls. White’s studio and gallery,
Flame Run is about seeing, feeling and experiencing the
passion of glass artists. Flame Run has put Louisville on the map as a destination for
contemporary glass artists, educators, and collectors.
The Haute Shop is Topeka’s only public access glass blowing studio and gallery. They
offer handmade glass art as well as functional glass such as bowls, vases, goblets,
cups, etc. designed by artist Daniel Kettle. Kettle possesses a thorough understanding
of modern and classical artistic styles. Kettle’s method for expressing his own creative
talents lies in his exploration of shape and color through hot glass.

D’Amato has been a full time musician for over 20 years and he has played the piano, guitar
and sang for over 30 years. In addition to performing, D’Amato teaches piano. He offers both his
teaching and performances through Tradebank. D’Amato’s company, Joey Sandals Life Music,
has created a traveling Elton John Tribute show perfect for corporate events and fundraisers.

Mystery shows rotate and each features a troupe of talented performers who always involve
the audience in their “who done it” productions. The Vaudeville Café offers a pre-show dinner
buffet and dessert and their shows are an interactive mystery with a comedic flair. Theatre owner
Chris Hampton has been a Tradebank client since 2000 and welcomes individuals, office groups,
birthday and Christmas parties. When Chattanooga hosts Tradebank conventions, Regional
Owners and Brokers always request that the Murder Mystery Dinner Show be part of the agenda.

JOYCE PENDLETON
Joyce Pendleton paints residential interior murals.
What makes Pendleton’s mural work unique is that
she paints her murals on canvas which enables her to
do business with clients across the country. “People
move, children grow up, and businesses change
locations. By putting the murals on canvas, they
become portable. Installation and removal is a simple
project for a wallpaper installer as the instructions are
straightforward and specific,” explains Pendleton. “I
can paint a single Fairy Tree in a baby’s room, or 22’
landscapes or seascapes. If you have an idea, I can
make it look good. I even design custom stencils to
do raised plaster motifs,” explains Pendleton.
Pendleton’s murals can be used in a residential or
commercial setting. Her murals include a variety of
styles tailored to her client’s taste, including realistic,
whimsical, and abstract. Pendleton’s work also includes
creating accent features such as custom scroll work.
“Painting Old-European scrollwork, Asian themes,
people, animals, pets, portraits and restaurant scenes
all excite me. Maybe that’s why I was nicknamed
the “Wow-Factor-Woman” by a team of designers in
Indianapolis,” Pendleton remarks.
SHARON JONES
When you want to make a statement contact Sharon
Jones, owner and artist of SJ Studios. SJ Studios
specializes in custom tiles which are used as art-either framed or on table top easels, installed in
bathrooms, kitchens, wet bars, and for a myriad of
other creative residential and commercial uses.
As a tile designer, Jones works with customers all
over the country to help them achieve the perfect
tile for their project. “My pieces are primarily accent
pieces. I sculpt my tile by hand in a three dimensional
design and/or develop a concept that is illustrated in
a hand sketch and then hand painted on the tiles.
These are not your standard ‘Home Depot’ tiles. My
hand made tile can, however, be used in conjunction
with mass produced tile to customize the project,”
explains Jones.

For 26 years Jeff Green ran the
commercial framing division for his family
business, a chain of retail stores across
the country. Five years ago Green left
the family business and, along with his
son, started two of his own companies,
Canvasnow.com and Red River Frames. Red
River Frames does commercial framing
for corporate offices, hotels, restaurants
and sporting venues. His typical jobs run
50 or more frames. In addition, Red River
has an extensive inventory of artwork for
sale.
