Dear Fellow Triathlete,
Welcome to the inaugural Regent 5150 Triathlon. We at Sunrise are very glad
and excited to have Regent Foods as host this event. Inaugural races are always
special.
Our aim with this event is to encourage even more people to adopt a healthy
lifestyle and embrace multisport training and racing. While we recognize that
people may have an Ironman or Ironman 70.3 event as a “bucket list” item,
we also realize that you need to start somewhere and this event does exactly
that. The distance is still challenging for the novice triathlete and we hope to
encourage many individuals to start with this distance. As more and more
people seek a healthier lifestyle, triathlon is well positioned to attract many new
participants. One way of encouraging this is by offering relays. I am pleased
WTC has agreed to this and we will have several categories in the relay division.
We believe that by offering relays, we will end up getting full fledged triathletes
from this group as these participants will discover the joy and challenge of
completing all three disciplines.
At the same time, seasoned triathletes will enjoy the standard distance as a way
to improve on their speed and add yet another race to their calendar.
We are working closely with our partners and sponsors to ensure you have a
comfortable and unique experience that will encourage you to return year after
year and hopefully get you to have your triathlete friends come as well.

supporters, welcome to the inaugural race of Regent 5i50 Triathlon event. Regent Foods’ has embarked on making Filipinos appreciate the value 'Life's
simple pleasures'. Regent started with its humble beginnings starting as a
snack food business catering to the general public. As the years pass, Regent
went on its journey to innovate snacks to cater to Filipinos’ desires. Since
then, the company has constantly strived for progress.
Triathlon involves three sports – swimming, biking and running. This sport
entails not only discipline, strength and endurance but also balance – in
training and in time. Regent Foods’ started supporting the fun run community
in 2012 with our aim to promote a healthy lifestyle through balance of good
food and exercise. Through the years, we continuously endorse advocates of
a healthy and fit lifestyle by supporting sports activities. We are truly honored as we launch Regent 5150 Triathlon Event this June.
This triathlon race aims to give you an action –packed, adrenaline-gush feeling
as we go back to the Subic Bay Boardwalk for the 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride to
Subic International Airport heading to IDESS up to Tarlac Road and a 10km loop
run in Remy Field going around Argonaut Highway. We are also proud to open
categories for the relay team for families, colleagues and school mates as we
stay true to our goal to promote ‘Life’s simple pleasures’ by bonding with your
loved ones.
It is with great pleasure that we join the triathlon community with the Regent
5i50 triathlon this 2015. Again, welcome to the inaugural race of Regent 5i50.

Welcome and Mabuhay!
Greetings to the men and women behind the staging of the inaugural Regent
5150 Triathlon in Subic Bay on June 7, 2015 and a most warm welcome to all
participating triathletes!
On behalf of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), allow me to welcome all the
participants of the Regent 5150 Triathlon. I also congratulate the organizers,
Sunrise Events, for holding another exciting sporting event in Subic.
This maiden triathlon event adds yet another feature to Subic Bay's cap as an
undisputed top sports venue. As local and foreign challengers gather for this
exciting three-sport competition here, Subic Bay's position is further reinforced
in the fast-growing Philippine triathlon scene.
The race is a great opportunity to show athletes and spectators that “It’s
More Fun in the Philippines.” The event also highlights and confirms Subic as
a major triathlon venue for seasoned and budding athletes where they can
discover and enjoy the surrounding scenery and aquatic resources.
For several years now, Subic Bay with its varied and demanding terrain and
exciting stretches of blue waters, winding roads, and green paths has been
the preferred destination of prestigious sports and event organizers, as well
as athletes and spectators from all walks of life. It has, in fact, gained a shining
reputation as an ideal staging ground for big local and international sports
events.
Regent 5150, which features a talent-laden international field, promises not
only new nights and thrills to both participants and spectators, but also a worldclass production in this world-class setting called Subic Bay.
Regent 5150 and the Philippines complement each other in boosting the
country’s economic growth thru sports tourism. This alliance presents
boundless possibilities for both athletes and audience as TPB pushes the
country’s international profile for Visit the Philippines Year (VPY 2015), an
invitation for all to experience the enduring promise of “It’s More Fun in the
Philippines.”

REGENT 5I50 TRIATHLON

egent Foods, the leading snack manufacturing

its foray into sports and balanced lifestyle as it
joins the growing triathlon community with the
staging of the inaugural Regent 5i50 Triathlon
on June 7 in Subic Bay.
“In our aim to support Filipino’s changing

past years, we have seen triathlon evolve as a
fast-growing sport. We are truly proud to be part

FEATURE
The 5i50 is an Olympic distance triathlon named
after the total distance it takes to complete the race
– a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run.
It is among the world’s most exciting races, one
that is considered by triathletes as a chance to
level-up and an accomplishment to strike-out of
their bucket list. For the seasoned athletes, this is
an absolute event to set new personal best records
and another world class race conquered on their
race calendar.
A crack international field will be vying for
top honors in Subic Bay such as top Aussie pros
Casey Munro, Justin Granger, Clayton Fettell,
Michael Murphy, Dan Brown, Belinda Granger,
Dimity Lee-Duke and Thai Carole Fuchs. On the
other hand, spearheading the local challenge are
elite triathletes Banjo Norte, Jenny Rose Guerrero,
LC Langit while celebrities Kim Atienza, Matteo
Guidicelli, Victor Basa, Onemig Bondoc and Isabelle
Daza have also signed up to spice up the event.
The race, considered as Regent’s answer to
triathletes who love to do short-distance but
challenging races in a world-class production setup,
will be made up of a 1.5km swim at the waters of
the Hanjin Port following a clockwise flow, a 40km
point-to-point bike ride, starting from the flat fast
runways of Subic International Airport, heading to
climbs and descents of IDESS, then to the roads of
hilly climbs of Zambales and the fast descents of
Aparri road. The run leg is a 10km run which will
have a clockwise flow. It will start at the Transition
2 in Remy Field and then head to Rizal highway
for the first turn around in Malawaan wharf. It will
then head back in front of Remy Field, going to
Dewey avenue for the second turn around near the
lighthouse. Participants then head back to Remy
Field for that well-deserved finish line.
“We commend Regent Foods for joining the evergrowing list of backers of this popular three-sport
athletic competition. With a talent-laden international
field, we expect a world-class competition since
the event also serves as a fitting tune-up for those
competing in the Ironman,” said Wilfred Uytengsu,
president of the organizing Sunrise Events, Inc.,
which also handles the Ironman and the Ironkids and
the Safeguard 5i50 triathlon.
Meanwhile, the athlete registration, race
pack claiming and race briefing activities will be
held June 5-6 for the two-day pre-event backed
by 2Go Express, official courier and logistics
partner, Sante Barley, Newton Running, PLDT
Subictel, TYR, Coca Cola Femsa, Garmin, David’s
Salon, Shotz, Smart, Pioneer Insurance, The
Philippine Star, Multisport Magazine, Intercare,
Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board
and venue host Subic Bay.

The Regent 5150 swim course is made up of a 1.5KM, starting at Hanjin port following
a clockwise flow. After completing the swim they will use an exit ramp leading to San
Bernardino heading to the first transition area. From Transition area they will grab their
bikes and head to the airport.

The Regent 5150 bike course is a 40km point-to-point bike ride, starting from the flat fast
runways of Subic International Airport, heading to climbs and descents of IDESS, then to the
roads of hilly climbs of Zambales and the fast descents of Aparri road. After completing the
course, participants head back to Transition 2 in Remy Field.

Participants must wear the swim cap provided in the race kit. Failure
to wear the provided swim cap may result in disqualification.
Swim will be a rolling start beginning at 6:27am. Participants will
self-seed on race morning (select their own predicted finish time)
and wait in the corresponding start area. Start areas with predicted
finish times will be set up on the beach area before the swim start arch.
Age Group Participants will be released in a continues flow, starting at
6:30am, based on the following predicted finish times:

a.i.1. Pro Male and Male Filipino Elite (6:27am)
a.i.2. Pro Female and Female Filipino Elite (6:28am)
a.i.3. Under 25 minutes (6:30am)
a.i.4. 26 – 30 minutes
a.i.5. 31 – 35 minutes
a.i.6. 36 – 40 minutes
a.i.7. 40 minutes or more
Each participants start time will begin when they cross the start
line timing mat.

Any stroke of a forward motion can be used.

Participants must not at anytime use the buoy ropes to propel
them forward. This will result in disqualification.
A swimmer experiencing difficulty and in need of assistance shall
raise an arm overhead, pump it up and down, and call or seek
assistance. A swimmer, who has received assistance, whether voluntary
or involuntary, must retire and withdraw from the remainder of the race,
unless such assistance did not aid the swimmer in making forward
progress. No swimmer shall return to the race if the official rendering
assistance requests that the participant withdraws from the race or
receive medical assistance.

Participants are allowed to use kayaks, boats and rafts as
flotation aids, as long as no forward progress is made. Any
forward progress will result in disqualification.

Participants must have their race number displayed on both upper
arms and calves prior to the start of the swim.

Participants must complete the entire swim course unassisted.
Failure to complete the course correctly will result in disqualification.

Swimwear must not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder,
or extend past the knees. Swimwear may contain a zipper. A
race kit may be worn underneath swimwear. All tri-suits must be
sleeveless and must not extend beyond the knees. Tri-suits with
sleeves may be allowed provided the sleeves are folded \ rolled and
secured and must not extend past the shoulder at any time during
the swim check in, start of the swim, entire swim course, and exit of
the swim up to the entry point of the transition area. Failure of the
participant to comply will result in automatic disqualification from
the race. If the sleeves unintentionally unrolled or unravel during the
entire swim course participants will not be penalized and allowed to
continue the race.

NO wetsuits of any kind are allowed. Speedsuits are allowed.
The Ruling on Speed Suits: Speedsuit must be comprised of 100%
textile material such as nylon or lyca and must not include rubberized
material such as polyurethane or neoprene. The speedsuit may contain
a zipper and must not extend below the knee.

Follow the instructions of race marshals and race officials at all times.
After the swim, changing tents will be available. No changing
will be allowed in the transition area. Public nudity is prohibited
throughout the entire event.

Swim Cut-Off Time is 60 minutes after the final Age Group
Participant crosses the start line timing mat to begin the swim. No
competitor will be allowed to bike if they do not reach the swim exit by
the cut-off time. This includes relay teams

BIKE
01
Only triathlon or road bikes are allowed. Mountain bikes (including
modified mountain bikes or hybrid bikes), beach cruisers, fixed-wheel
bikes, folding bikes, and bikes with coaster-type brakes are prohibited.

No tandems, recumbent, fairings or any add-on device designed to reduce
resistance is allowed. Any new, ‘usual’, or prototype equipment will be
subject to a ruling of legality by the race director and technical director.

All bikes must have one operational brake on each wheel.
04
No wheel may contain a mechanism that is capable of accelerating the wheel.
05
Bike Wheels: Disc wheels or wheel covers may be used only on the rear
wheel. However, this provision may be changed by the Race Director in
the interest of safety, i.e. high-winds.

Shoes and a shirt (cycling jersey, triathlon top, or sports top) must be worn at
all times while on the bike course - failure to wear will result in a YELLOW CARD.
Race number must be clearly attached to the rider’s lower back and
visible at all times while on the bike course. A race belt may be worn to
secure the race number. Failure to wear a race number on the bike will
result in disqualification.

to check in the bike. For a participant to check in their bike, they must have
the seat post sticker attached to their bike and show their race ID band as
identification. No race ID band, no check in.

Participants will have full access to their bikes on race morning but will not
be allowed to remove the bike from transition 1 until the start of the bike leg.

In case of bad weather, a bike cover may be placed over the bike in
transition but must be removed and stored in the transition box or given to
a non-participant before the start of the race.

No riding inside transition 1 or 2 at any time.

Failure to acknowledge a race official who asks a biker to stop for a
penalty will result in disqualification.

This is a non-drafting race.

Drafting rules for Age Group Participants:
•Drafting Distance - 10 meters from front wheel to front wheel
•Overtaking Time - rider has 20 seconds to complete a pass, failure to complete
a pass in 20 seconds will result in a drafting penalty (BLUE CARD)

Drafting Rules for Professional and Elite Participants:
•Drafting Distance - 12 meters from front wheel to front wheel
•Overtaking Time - rider has 25 seconds to complete a pass, failure to complete
a pass in 25 seconds will result in a drafting penalty (BLUE CARD)
Helmet must be clipped before the bike is removed from the bike rack and
cannot be unclipped until the bike is securely racked in transition. Failure
to wear a helmet will result in disqualification. Unclipping the helmet
before the bike is racked will result in a YELLOW CARD.
All bikes must be checked into transition 1 and left overnight on Saturday

It is the overtaken riders immediate responsibility to drop out of the drafting
zone, failure to do so will result in a drafting penalty (BLUE CARD).

Drafting Penalty (BLUE CARD) – 5 minutes for each penalty (serve at
penalty tent at Transition 2)
** Bikers violating rules on drafting will be notified by officials at the location of
the violation. Officials will do the following:
a. Call out the rider’s race number and ask the rider to stop.
b. Notify that the rider has received a penalty for drafting and show a BLUE CARD.
c. Mark the rider’s race number to indicate a drafting penalty.
d. Instruct the rider to report to the penalty tent at Transition 2 before heading
out on the run.
e. Record riders race number and take a photograph of rider for verification
at transition.
** Bikers penalized for drafting must do the following:
a. Report to the penalty tent at Transition 2 and inform the race official they
received a BLUE CARD.
b. Present race number, sign the penalty tent registration sheet and serve the
five (5) minute time penalty.
c. Do not attempt to discuss or ague with an official over a penalty.
d. Any biker who reports an incorrect card color to the Race Official at the
penalty tent will be disqualified.
e. Any biker who fails to report to the penalty tent will be disqualified.

Drafting will be allowed in the following situations:
a. 50 meters from a hydration or aid station
b. 50 meters exit and entrance to transition
c. 50 meters from a sharp turn or u-turn
d. Steep uphill climbs

Blocking violation: participants who impede the forward progress of
other participants will be given a blocking violation (YELLOW CARD).
** Bikers violating rules on blocking will be notified by officials at the location of
the violation. Officials will do the following:
a. Call out the rider’s race number and ask the rider to stop.
b. Notify that the rider has received a penalty for blocking and show a
YELLOW CARD.
c. Mark the rider’s race number to indicate a blocking penalty and allow the rider
to continue on the course.
d. For blocking violations, participants will report to the penalty tent at Transition
2, inform the Race Official they received a YELLOW CARD, sign the penalty tent
registration sheet, and continue with the race.

Three penalties of any kind will result in disqualification (RED CARD).
Participants will be allowed to complete the bike course but will not be
permitted to run.

Always ride on the right side of the road. Over take on the left and return to
the right as soon as it is safe to do so.
RUN
01
Shoes and shirt / top are required at all times on the run course. Failure to
wear will result in disqualification.

No individual or team support vehicle may follow runners around the
course. This will result in disqualification to the offending runner.

Race number must be clearly visible on the front of the runner at all times.
A race belt may be used to secure the race number. Failure to wear will
result in disqualification.

Littering on the run course will result in a YELLOW CARD.

Follow the instructions of race marshals and traffic enforcers at all times.

Respect local traffic rules and other vehicles on the road at all times.

Participants must complete the entire run course unassisted. Failure to
complete the course correctly will result in disqualification.

A runner may run, walk or crawl to complete the course.
Outside assistance from a non-participant or spectator is not allowed at
any time on the run course. This means no receiving food, hydration, or
water/ice/sponges for cooling off from any person not directly involved in
the event. (Example of non-participants: family members, friends, spectators,
photographers, personal drivers, and coaches.) Receiving outside assistance
will result in disqualification to the offending runner.

A sweeper vehicle will begin sweeping the course at 12 noon to collect
any participants still on the course. At that time, for safety reasons,
runners will not be allowed to complete the run course and will register as
DNF (did not finish).

RACE RULES
P EN A LT IE S A ND DIS QU A L IF IC AT IONS
1 Race Referees will notify participants of a rule violation by
showing the participant a colored card in combination with
a verbal directive. Penalty card colors and their associated
penalties are as follows:
I. Yellow Card: Stop-and-Go time penalty;
II. Blue Card: 5 minute time penalty;
III. Red Card: Disqualification;
2 BLUE CARD - drafting violations.
3 YELLOW CARD - blocking, obstruction, or interference
violations, and littering on the bike course, littering on the
run course.
4 When a participant receives a YELLOW CARD on the bike
course, they must report to the penalty tent at Transition
2 for a Stop-and-Go Time Penalty. Once the participant
reaches the penalty tent they must report the correct
card color to the Race Official and sign the penalty tent
registration sheet. The participant may then continue on the
run course.
5 When a participant receives a YELLOW CARD on the run
course, the stop-and-go penalty will be served at the point
of the violation (there will be no penalty tent on the run
course).
6 When a participant receives a BLUE CARD on the bike
course, they must report to the penalty tent at Transition
2, report the correct card color to the Race Official, sign the
penalty tent registration sheet, and serve a 5 minute time
penalty. During the 5 minute time penalty, participants may
not use the toilet or receive any food, nutrition, or hydration
other than those they were carrying when they entered the
penalty tent.
7 Race Referees and Race Officials are not required to give
athletes a warning before issuing a penalty.
8 Any participant who accumulates three penalties of any
color will be disqualified. If a participant is disqualified
while on the swim course, they may finish the swim
course but may not start the bike course. If a participant is
disqualified while on the bike course, they may finish the
bike course but may not start the run course. If a participant
is disqualified while on the run course, they may finish the
run course but will not be eligible for awarding.
9 A RED CARD may be issued to an athlete for severe
rule violations including, but not limited to, repeated rule
violations, disregard for directives given by Race Referees
or Race Officials, dangerous or unsportsmanlike conduct.
10 Disqualified participants will not be eligible for age-group
awards. Timing splits and race results will NOT be listed for
disqualified athletes.

No athlete will be allowed to enter transition or any restricted race areas without a

2. Participants must ensure their timing chip is securely fastened to their left or
right ankle for the entire race.

16. MP3 players or any kind of personal music / listening devices with headset are
not allowed at any time during the race. Use of a headset at any time during the
race will result in disqualification.
17. Non-racers, including the relay swimmer and biker, and family members
cannot run or walk alongside a runner in the finishing chute - this includes
participants carrying children in their arms as they cross the finish line. Please
make every attempt to cross the finish line individually, not in a group to ensure
your time is correctly recorded.
3. A race number sticker must be placed on the seat post of the bike (before bike
check-in) and on the front of the bike helmet before the race begins. Failure to
attach will result in a YELLOW CARD and may result in disqualification.
4. Once transition 1 closes on Saturday June 6, 2015, no participant, for any
reason, will be permitted to enter until transition 1 opens on race morning. (Time to
be announced.)
5. Participants will give way to all medical and emergency personnel on the
course regardless of their race standing.
6. All participants will surrender their timing chip to race officials immediately after
crossing the finish line.
7. A participant must complete all three legs of the race in full before each of the
cut off times or be disqualified. A participant who is disqualified (or cut off after the
swim or the bike) will not be permitted to continue the race.
8. If for any reason a participant cannot finish the race, they must report to the
finish line area and return their timing chip. This will result in a DNF (did not finish)
result.
9. In transition 1 and 2, it is the responsibility of the participant to ensure all race
gear is placed in their respective race baskets / boxes. Anything found lying on the
ground in transition 1 and 2 will be collected and considered lost.
10. Only participants wearing a Regent 5150 Subic wristband and race officials
will be allowed to enter transition 1 and 2 before, during and after the race. No
family members, support staff, personal bike mechanics or photographers will be
allowed in transition at any time.
18. If a participant loses or forgets their timing chip prior to the swim start, they
must report immediately to a race official at the swim start area. If the timing chip
is lost during the course of the race, the participant must report the loss to a race
official and pay a replacement fee upon completing the race.
19. Full disclosure of a participant’s medical condition(s), general health
and surgical procedure within the previous 12 months is required. Medical
consultation/clearance may be necessary from an attending physician prior to
acceptance into the race. In all cases, the final decision of medical consideration
is at the discretion of the event Medical Director.
20. Participants may be requested to undergo drug-testing procedures before
and after the event. If you are requested to do so, you hereby agree to abide by
such testing procedures. If a participant tests positive to any banned or illegal
substance they will be disqualified.
21. Medical personnel shall have ULTIMATE and FINAL authority to remove a
participant from the race if the participant is judged to be physically incapable of
continuing the race without risk of serious injury or death. Medical transport of
any participant will result in disqualification.
22. Age group classification is based on the participant’s age as of December 31,
2015.
23. Relay teams must consist of 3 participants. A relay participant may only race
for one team. An individual participant cannot compete as part of a relay team.
11. Do not place any items (shoes, towels, clothing, etc.) beyond the front wheel
of your bike inside transition 1 and 2. No glass containers of any kind will be
allowed inside transition.
24. Consider the safety of yourself and other participants at all times during the race.
Treat other participants, race officials, race marshals, medical staff, traffic enforcers,
and spectators with respect and courtesy before, during, and after the race.
12. Transition bags from transition 1 will be transported to transition 2 by race
officials. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure they correctly place
their gear in their transition bags at T1 to ensure correct delivery at T2. Bike pumps
and any items that will not fit in the transition bags at T1, should be clearly labeled
with a participants race number.
25. Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language, or other unsportsmanlike
conduct directed at race officials, another participant, race marshal, medical staff,
traffic enforcer, or spectator will not be tolerated before, during, or after the race and
will result in disqualification.
13. Bike and Bag collection from transition 2 – transition 2 will open at 10:30am
for collection of bikes and transition bags. Any bikes or bags remaining in
transition after 1:00pm will be left unsecured as the transition area will be closed
and race security removed from the area. Bikes and bags can only be collected by
the PARTICIPANT - family members, support staff, coaches, and drivers will NOT be
allowed to check out bikes and bags from transition. Participants must show their
race ID band as identification to check out their bike.
26. Any protests relating to race results must be submitted in writing to the Race
Director within one hour of the final race cutoff.
14. Relay participants must remain in their respective waiting tents at transition 1
and 2 until their teammates arrive. They cannot leave the waiting tent unless given
permission by a race official. Once a relay participant has completed their leg of
the race they may leave the waiting tents but may not reenter transition 1 or 2.
28. Regent 5150 Subic race numbers and race registration are non-transferable. Any
attempt to transfer registration will result in disqualification.
27. In case of severe weather on race day, Regent 5150 Subic reserves the right
to make the necessary adjustments to the race course to ensure the safety of all
participants. These decisions will be made on race morning and announced at
transition 1 and the swim start.
29. Regent 5150 Subic reserves the right to make rule changes at any time provided
all athletes are notified in writing and/or at the pre-race athlete briefing meeting.
15. All medical expenses occurred during the course of the race or as a result of
