I‐69 Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties Scoping Study TxDOT Mission: Work with others to provide safe and reliable transportation solutions for Texas. What is I‐69? • Proposed national Interstate that includes 8 states • I-69 currently designated in 6 states, including Texas • First I-69 Texas section designated on existing US 77 near Robstown • I-69 Texas also designated in greater Houston area I‐69 Texas Routes Identified by Federal Legislation • US 59 • US 84 • US 77 • US 281 Interstate Design Standards • US 59 in Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties does not meet Interstate standards • Interstate design standards include consideration of: Access Control Design Speeds Median Width Sight Distance Roadway Grades and Curves Lane and Shoulder Widths I‐69 Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties Scoping Study • Two options are under study ̶ ̶ US 59 Upgrade Option New Location Option • I-69 Angelina and Nacogdoches Counties Committee ̶ ̶ ̶ Identifies transportation needs Provides communities’ route preferences to TxDOT Ensures community input US 59 Upgrade and New Location Options US 59 Options – Angelina County US 59 Options – Nacogdoches County Get Involved and Provide Input • Attend Open Houses • Ask Questions and Understand the Two Options Under Study • Read the Materials • Take the Survey • Let Us Know Your Thoughts - Provide Comments Kelly O.
