Opera is unique because it combines vocal and instrumental music, text and
theatre, as well as visual aspects of all kinds... It creates an atmosphere in which
all our senses are intensely called upon. This is why opera has such emotional
power and makes its audience feel alive.
Opera tells stories that echo our contemporary predicaments. The artists
who give voice to these stories are the mirrors of our society. Opera gives us
the opportunity to experience our common humanity beyond all our cultural
differences. The Festival d’Aix is committed to promoting this cross-cultural
dimension.

by fostering opera creation and professional integration
of young artists,
by making opera more accessible,
by encouraging the circulation of works and young artists.
In 2013 the Festival was appointed European Cultural Ambassador and
it was awarded the prize for Best Festival at the 2014 International Opera
Awards. With these prestigious distinctions, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence is
ever more committed to its mission.
For several years now the support from corporate and individual sponsors has
been key to the Festival’s success, as it represents 17% of its budget.
In order to continue and pursue its projects, the Festival needs to increase
significantly the proportion of this self-financing.
Our ambitious projects cannot be brought to fruition without the contributions
of our Major Donors. The Festival invites sponsors to support specific projects to
which their names will be attached. You can participate in one of the Festival’s
