The LCD module may be programmed with the following digit and multiplier settings: 4x1, 4x10, or 5x1. A nine-digit LCD, with a variety of annunciators, is provided on these multifunction personality modules. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 17 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 18 CENTRON C12.19 D/T/L Meter Load Indicators The watt disk emulator can represent the delivered or received power as follows: Segment Progression for Delivered Power Where Kh = 1 Wh per pulse Segment Progression for Received Power Demand Reset Button There are two methods of triggering a demand reset. When the Demand Reset Button is pressed, a demand reset is immediately performed. A demand reset can also be done using the system programming software communicating directly with the meter when logged on. The following actions occur with a demand reset: 888 888888 is displayed on the LCD. The demand registers are processed and reset. The Demand Reset Count is incremented. A self read “snapshot” occurs. The meter can be programmed with a demand reset lockout time. This is the minimum time required to pass between demand resets configurable from 0 to 255 minutes. If a demand reset is attempted before this amount of time elapses since the last demand reset, the meter will not reset demands. This lockout time does not apply to software initiated demand resets. Also, if the Demand Reset Button has been programmed to be disabled, the meter will not perform a demand reset when the button is pushed. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 19 Itron Metering Pocket Guide Three-Button Reset WARNING! Performing this function clears: Billing Data Meter Program Security Codes To perform a three-button reset: 1 Remove power from the meter. 2 Remove the outer cover from the meter. 3 Simultaneously hold down the Test Button and the Demand Reset Button, while holding a magnet at the nine o'clock position on the meter. Note: The Test Button, Demand Reset Button, and magnet position are shown on CENTRON C12.19 Meter Indicators (on page 14). On older C1SD/T/L meters, the magnetic switch is located at the 10 o'clock position. 4 While holding the buttons and magnet in place apply power to the meter. Once you see "3BReset" or "nordiSP" on the display, release both buttons and remove the magnet. The three-button reset is complete. 20 Magnetic Switch The magnetic switch allows for manual switching between display modes as well as scroll lock of display items. To activate the magnetic switch, hold the magnet to the Magnetic Switch (see "CENTRON C12.19 Meter Indicators" on page 14). Older C1SD/T/L meters have a magnetic switch at the 10 o'clock position. To switch between different display modes, hold the magnet in place for 5 seconds. The meter display will show one of the following: sel nor sel Alt When the display shows the mode you want, remove the magnet. To activate the scroll lock, hold and release the magnet. “ScrLoc” will appear on the meter display. Apply and release the magnet again to step through the selected meter display. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 21 Itron Metering Pocket Guide Test Mode Button The Test Mode button is located at the 3 o'clock position on the meter register under the meter outer cover. Pressing the button activates Test Mode. Pressing the button again will exit Test Mode and activate the Normal display. Note: If the TEST button has been programmed to be disabled, the meter will not enter Test Mode when the button is pressed. 22 Display Modes Normal Display Mode The Normal Display Mode is the default display when the meter is energized and when the meter is in Normal Operating Mode. Alternate Display Mode The Alternate Display Mode is functionally identical to the Normal Mode. The meter itself still operates under normal measurement, but the display sequence can be programmed to show a different set of displayable items from those in the Normal Display Mode. While in Alternate Display Mode, the letters “ALT” appear on the LCD to designate activation of the Alternate Display Mode. Upon completion of the Mode Timeout period, the meter automatically returns to the Normal Display Mode. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 23 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 24 Test Display Mode The Test Mode can be accessed from either the Normal or Alternate Mode by removing the meter cover and pressing the Test button. To activate this mode with a programming device, refer to the appropriate software user’s manual. The Test Mode annunciator, “TEST” is displayed while the CENTRON meter is in Test Mode. In Test Mode, normal metering stops and Test Mode registration begins. Display Mode Timeout When the display is put into display modes other than Normal display (Alternate, Scroll Lock, or Test display modes), the meter will return to normal operation after a programmable Mode Timeout expires. The Mode Timeout can be configured from 1 to 255 minutes using the meter programming software. Three Ways to Test Test using infrared pickup 1. • Place sensor on light pipe (top of meter) • Program test board according to table. Refer to the CENTRON Test Board Parameters table. • Remember: Kh = 1.0 Test using pulse detector 2. • Place sensor on light pipe • Use x1 light for light loads and x10 light for heavy loads Test using disk emulator on LCD 3. • Each change of state of disk emulator is equal to 1 Wh • Direction of disk emulator shows power flow direction (forward or reverse) Itron Metering Pocket Guide 25 Itron Metering Pocket Guide CENTRON Pulse Detector Converts infrared pulse to visible light. Note: These instructions are given assuming a CENTRON (C12.19) program is open in PC-PRO+ Advanced. 1 Energy and Demand measurements need to be selected from the Quantity Selections menu in Program Editor. 2 Quantities desired for transmission can be selected from the drop down menu in the RF Configuration component. NOTE: If IDM is enabled, then register1 must be a non-net energy. 3 Logon to the meter: Program Editor/ Communications/Logon/ Set Serial Baud Rate to 9600. 28 Error Codes (Applicable Only to C12.19 C1SD, C1ST, & C1SL) Non-Fatal Errors Non-fatal errors can be programmed to scroll during one second display off-time or lock on the meter display. If multiple non-fatal errors occur, the meter will display a combined error message. For non-fatal errors, RF transmission can be controlled via PC-PRO+ Advanced software. Low Battery Error Error Code Err 1----- • • Possible Cause(s) Battery Voltage Low Battery Not Connected Properly Recommended Action Once a low battery is detected, the daily battery voltage tests will be halted and a battery present test will be run every second. A low battery continues to function; however, its reliability decreases over time. As long as the meter is not powered down with a dead or missing battery, the meter will continue to function as normal. If the meter is powered down with a dead or missing battery, then, when power is restored, the meter's clock will be off by the duration of the outage, and Load Profile and TOU will be halted. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 29 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 30 Time-of-Use (TOU) Error Error Code Err --3--- Possible Cause(s) Current Season is not programmed Current Year is not programmed TOU halted due to power down with dead or missing battery Recommended Action This is tested at power-up, at midnight crossings, at season changes, upon reconfigures and upon set clocks. Depending on the cause of the error, it can be cleared with a corrective reconfigure or with a set clock with a good battery present. • • • Reverse Power Error Error Code Err ---4-- Possible Cause(s) The configured reverse power threshold has been reached. Recommended Action Reverse power is tested every second and an accumulator for it is maintained. If power is delivered during the second, then the accumulator is cleared. If power is received during the second, then the accumulator is incremented. If the accumulator reaches the configured reverse power threshold, then the error is triggered. A Demand Reset will clear this error. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 31 Itron Metering Pocket Guide Clock/Load Profile Error Error Code Err ----5- Possible Cause(s) Clock or Load Profile error detected. Recommended Action This is tested upon power-up. A set clock with a good battery present will clear this error. Be sure to read the Load Profile data prior to setting the clock to clear the error. The dead battery will cause some invalid intervals at the end of the data. When the error is cleared, Load Profile will be restarted from the beginning to purge the bad data. 32 Full Scale Overflow Error Error Code Err -----6 Possible Cause(s) The calculated W delivered demand at an EOI exceeded the configured full scale value. Recommended Action This error is checked upon every Demand EOI, set clock, demand reset, enter Test Mode, and power-up. If the meter is configured for Max W Del, then that value is compared to the programmed threshold. The fullscale overflow error displays after the interval during which the overflow occurred. The maximum demand register continues to accumulate and display kW as long as the format limitations are not exceeded. If a full scale overflow occurs, check the installation to ensure that the current capacity of the meter has not been exceeded. A full scale overflow error in no way affects the existing billing data. This error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 33 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 34 Fatal Errors Fatal errors cause the display to lock on the error code because of the possibility that billing data may have been corrupted or that the meter may not be operating correctly. If multiple fatal errors occur, the one with the lowest number will be the error code that locks on the display. The CENTRON C12.19 meter will check for fatal errors: when a meter reconfigure is performed. when power is initially energized and upon future power restoration. while performing key operations. Fatal errors are cleared when they are corrected by the factory and the meter is reprogrammed. MCU Flash Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the program memory. Recommended Action If this error occurs, program the meter and check for proper operation. If the error continues to exist, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error1 RAM Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the RAM. Recommended Action If the meter detects a RAM problem, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error2 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 35 Itron Metering Pocket Guide Data Flash Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the data flash. Recommended Action If this error occurs, program the meter and check for proper operation. If the error continues to exist, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error3 36 Front End Processor Error Error Code Error4 Possible Cause(s) A problem has occurred with the metrology portion of the meter. Recommended Action Return the meter for repair. FAT Power Down Error Error Code Error5 Possible Cause(s) A problem has occurred while saving billing data at time of a power outage. Recommended Action The billing data has been corrupted. Factory Reset the meter, reprogram the meter and check for proper operation, including several power cycles. If the error continues to exist, return the meter for repair. Recommended Action Return the meter for repair. FAT Operating System Error Error Code Error7 Possible Cause(s) A problem has occurred with the operating system. Recommended Action Return the meter for repair. FAT 38 Error Codes (Applicable Only to C1S & C1SR) Fatal errors happen when an unsuccessful writing to or reading from EEPROM memory occurs or it could also be a metrology error. All metering and RF functions are halted. The LCD will display the word Error on the area normally used for energy accumulation and the module will have to be returned to the factory for repair. All metering and RF functions are halted. The LCD will display the word Error on the area normally used for energy accumulation and the module will have to be returned to the factory for repair. Multiple Custom Schedule (MCS) Functionality With the Multiple Custom Schedules (MCS) option, CENTRON C&I Demand Mobile AMR (Polyphase) meters have the ability to store up to 25 billing cycles. Users can select one of these billing cycles by a combination of magnet and Demand Reset button. The MCS option is MeterKey enabled and factory programming for MCS meters is available. PC-PRO+ Advanced 7.3 and later enables CENTRON C&I Demand Mobile AMR (Polyphase) meters to program up to 25 custom billing cycles. Selecting a MCS schedule The following procedure describes how to select a schedule that has been programmed into the meter: 1 Start with the meter in Normal Display mode. 2 Hold an Itron magnet to the magnetic switch. After 4 seconds the meter will begin scrolling through display mode options. "SEL SCHED" will appear in the list if the MeterKey bit is set. 3 4 5 6 7 Remove the magnet while this option is being displayed. This will launch the "Custom Schedule Selection Mode". The display will show "cs _ _" Select the first digit of the schedule number. The first digit will scroll through the valid options 0 1, and 2. Each number will display for 1 second before switching to the next number. When the desired number is displayed, push the Demand Reset button to select that number. The screen will read "cs #_" (where # is the number selected in the previous step). Select the second digit of the schedule number. The second digit will scroll through the possible second numbers -- 1 - 9 if first digits is a 0, 0 - 9 if first digit is a 1, and 0 - 5 if first digit is a 2. When the desired number is displayed, push the Demand Reset button to select that number. If the selected schedule is not valid, then "no SCHEd" will display for 4 seconds. After that you will be returned to step 4. If the schedule is valid, the Custom Schedule ID of the schedule will flash on the LCD (for example, "cs 22"). Press the Demand Reset button to confirm the schedule. The meter will copy over the new schedule, show "Success" on the display, and then return to Normal Display. If you you do not want that schedule, swipe the magnet and you will be returned to step 4. CENTRON Polyphase Demand Reset Button There are two methods of triggering a demand reset. When the Demand Reset Button is pressed, a demand reset is immediately performed. A demand reset can also be done using the system programming software communicating directly with the meter when logged on. The following actions occur with a demand reset: 888 888888 is displayed on the LCD. The demand registers are processed and reset. The Demand Reset Count is incremented. A self read “snapshot” occurs. The meter can be programmed with a demand reset lockout time. This is the minimum time required to pass between demand resets configurable from 0 to 255 minutes. If a demand reset is attempted before this amount of time elapses since the last demand reset, the meter will not reset demands. This lockout time does not apply to software initiated demand resets. Also, if the Demand Reset Button has been programmed to be disabled, the meter will not perform a manual demand reset. Pressing the button activates Test Mode. Pressing the button a second time activates Test Alternate Mode, enabling the user to test a different energy quantity with the IR LED. Pressing the button a third time will exit Test Mode and activate the Normal display. They have no effect on metering or on any operations performed by the CENTRON Polyphase meter. If enabled, all the diagnostic checks will continually check for errors every five seconds. The CENTRON Polyphase meter will not check for diagnostic errors under any of the following conditions: When single-phase series conditions occur (Test Bench) When the meter is in Test Mode When the diagnostic(s) have been disabled by the programming software When the meter has triggered a Non-Fatal 9 Error Note: Once the condition causing the error is corrected, the meter must pass two consecutive checks before the diagnostic error is cleared from the display. The CENTRON Polyphase meter checks every five seconds for configured diagnostics. A diagnostic error must exist for 15 seconds (3 checks) to be logged as an error. The error condition must be clear for 25 seconds (5 checks) before the error condition is removed on the meter display or in the SiteScan view while online with a meter. If one or more non-fatal errors from the 1 to 6 set are to be scrolled at the same time as one or more non-fatal errors from the 7 to 10 set, then the meter will alternate between the two sets between each display item. Low Battery Error Error Code Err 1----- Possible Cause(s) Battery Voltage Low. Recommended Action Once a low battery is detected, the daily battery voltage tests will be halted and a battery present test will be run every second. As long as the battery is good and the meter does not lose power, the meter will remain a Clock meter and the one-second battery present tests will continue. If the battery dies and a power outage occurs, when power is restored, the meter will become a Demand-Only meter. If a dead battery is detected upon restoration of power, this error code will display. TOU and load profile functions will be disabled. TOU registers and Load Profile Channels will not accumulate after an outage with a dead battery. If a dead battery level error occurs during normal operation, TOU and load profile will continue to operate until an outage occurs. Loss of Phase Error Error Code Err -2---- Possible Cause(s) The voltage on one of the phases dropped below 96 volts. Recommended Action SiteScan check. It runs every 5 seconds and must fail twice successively to be recorded. A Demand Reset after the voltage returns will clear this error. Time-of-Use (TOU) Error Error Code Err --3--- Possible Cause(s) A problem was detected in the Time-of-Use Schedule. Recommended Action This error indicates that there is a problem between the configuration data and the state of the meter. When this error occurs it may be logged to a History Log. A TOU non-fatal error can be cleared in several ways depending on what caused the condition: • On a reconfigure, if Calendar (and possibly TOU) configuration data is removed. • On a reconfigure that corrects the calendar and/or TOU configuration data. • On a set clock with correct Calendar and possibly TOU configuration data. Recommended Action Reverse power is tested every second and an accumulator for it is maintained. If power is delivered during the second, then the accumulator is cleared. If power is received during the second, then the accumulator is incremented. If the accumulator reaches the configured reverse power threshold, then the error is triggered. A Demand Reset will clear this error. 70 Load Profile Error Error Code Err ----5- Possible Cause(s) Clock not set, missing or dead battery. Recommended Action This error indicates that the meter has Load Profile configuration data, but either the clock has never been set or the battery is dead or missing. This error may be detected upon a power-up, a reconfigure, or a set clock. This error may be cleared as follows: • On a reconfigure, if Load Profile configuration data is removed. • On a set clock. If the meter is configured for Max W Del, then that value is compared to the programmed threshold. The full scale overflow error displays after the interval during which the overflow occurred. The maximum demand register continues to accumulate and display kW as long as the format limitations are not exceeded. If a full scale overflow occurs, check the installation to ensure that the current capacity of the meter has not been exceeded. A full scale overflow in no way affects the existing billing data. This error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Error Code: Err 7----Error Code: Err -8---- Reserved Reserved SiteScan Error Error Code Err --9--- Possible Cause(s) Meter not in a recognized service for the meter type. Recommended Action Verify site wiring. This error may be cleared: • On a reconfigure, if the SiteScan Override Service Type is changed to correct service. • On a power-up, if the SiteScan Auto-Service Sense detects correct meter service. Note: The check for this error will not start until SiteScan power-up delay time has passed. If this error is present, then SiteScan diagnostics are disabled. If SiteScan is configured to override service type in the meter program, then this test shall not be performed. Note: If multiple non-fatal errors occur, the meter will display a combined error message. For example, if a Low Battery and a Loss of Phase exist, the LCD display will show Err 12----. If one of the errors was programmed to lock and the other to scroll, the display will lock on the combined error message. The CENTRON Polyphase meter will check for fatal errors: when a meter reconfigure is performed. when power is initially energized and upon future power restoration. Recommended Action Normally, any Fatal Error will cause the meter to stop all metering operations. However, a Metrology Communication Error is displayed as a Fatal Error, but will not shut down the meter. This error occurs when communications are interrupted between the meter processors. The error is registered, but the processors continue to attempt to communicate with each other. If communication between the processors resumes, the meter continues to operate; however, all register values are suspect due to lost data during the period when metering was interrupted. To activate the magnetic switch, hold the magnet to the location shown (magnet icon embedded in cover). To switch between different display modes, hold the magnet in place for 5 seconds. The meter display will show one of the following: sel nor sel Alt sel tool When the display shows the mode you want, remove the magnet. To activate the scroll lock, hold and release the magnet. “ScrLoc” will appear on the meter display. Apply and release the magnet again to step through the selected meter display. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 99 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 100 Test Mode Button The Test Mode button is located in the lower center of the meter nameplate under the meter cover. Pressing the button activates Test Mode. Pressing the button a second time activates Test Alternate Mode, enabling the user to test a different energy quantity with the IR LED. Pressing the button a third time will exit Test Mode and activate the Normal display. Note: If the TEST button has been programmed to be disabled, the meter will not enter Test Mode when the button is pressed. Display Modes Normal Display Mode The Normal Display Mode is the default display when the meter is energized and when the meter is in Normal Operating Mode. Alternate Display Mode The Alternate Display Mode is functionally identical to the Normal Mode. The meter itself still operates under normal measurement, but the display sequence can be programmed to show a different set of displayable items from those in the Normal Display Mode. While in Alternate Display Mode, the letters “ALT” appear on the LCD to designate activation of the Alternate Display Mode. Upon completion of the Mode Timeout period, the meter automatically returns to the Normal Display Mode. Toolbox Display Mode Toolbox Display Mode is identical to Normal Mode except that the list of displayable items is a fixed list dependent on the service type. You can enter the Toolbox Mode from either Normal or Alternate Mode. While in Toolbox Mode, a flashing “TEST” appears on the left side of the display. Once activated, the Toolbox Mode scrolls through the list of per phase items and diagnostic counters. To activate this mode with a programming device, refer to the appropriate software user’s manual. The Test Mode annunciator, “TEST” is displayed while the SENTINEL meter is in Test Mode. While the meter is in Test Mode, normal metering stops and Test Mode registration begins. Test Alternate Display Mode Test Alternate Mode is functionally identical to Test Mode. To enter Test Alternate Mode, press the Test switch twice. The meter will return to Normal Mode at the completion of Mode Timeout. Display Mode Timeout When the display is put into display modes other than Normal display (Alternate, Toolbox, Scroll Lock, Test, or Test Alternate display modes), the meter will return to normal operation after a programmable Mode Timeout expires. The Mode Timeout can be configured from 1 to 255 minutes using the meter programming software. The error display is removed when the error condition no longer exists. It is very important to note that the meter will continue to operate normally while any of the diagnostic errors are being displayed. The system and installation diagnostic checks will only report that there may be a problem with the meter or site. They have no effect on metering or on any operations performed by the SENTINEL meter. If enabled, all the diagnostic checks will continually check for errors every five seconds. The SENTINEL meter will not check for diagnostic errors under any of the following conditions: When single-phase series conditions occur (Test Bench) When the meter is in Test Mode When the diagnostic(s) have been disabled by the programming software When the meter has triggered a Non-Fatal 9 Error Note: Once the condition causing the error is corrected, the meter must pass two consecutive checks before the diagnostic error is cleared from the display. The SENTINEL meter checks every five seconds for configured diagnostics. A diagnostic error must exist for 15 seconds (3 checks) to be logged as an error. The error condition must be clear for 10 seconds (2 checks) before the error condition is removed on the meter display or in the SiteScan view while online with a meter. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 113 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 114 Non-Fatal Errors The options for displaying Non-Fatal Errors are the same as those for displaying Diagnostic errors. If one or more non-fatal errors from the 1 to 6 set are to be scrolled at the same time as one or more non-fatal errors from the 7 to 10 set, then the meter will alternate between the two sets between each display item. Low Battery Error Error Code Err 1----- Possible Cause(s) Battery Voltage Low. Battery Connector Not Connected Properly. Recommended Action Once a low battery is detected, the daily battery voltage tests will be halted and a battery present test will be run every second. As long as the battery is good and the meter does not lose power, the meter will remain a Clock meter and the one-second battery present tests will continue. If the battery dies or is removed and a power outage occurs, when power is restored, the meter will become a Demand-Only meter. -- Continued on next page -If a dead battery is detected upon restoration of power, this error code will display until the battery is replaced. TOU and load profile functions will be disabled until the battery is replaced and the time is set. TOU (rates A, B, C, D, E, F, G) registers and Load Profile Channels will not accumulate after an outage with a dead battery. If a dead battery level error occurs during normal operation, TOU and load profile will continue to operate until an outage occurs. Loss of Phase Error Error Code Err -2---- Possible Cause(s) The voltage on one of the phases dropped below the voltage threshold. Single-phase Power Supply Threshold: 96 volts. Three Phase Power Supply Threshold: 45 volts. Recommended Action SiteScan check. It runs every 5 seconds and must fail twice successively to be recorded. A Demand Reset after the voltage returns will clear this error. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 115 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 116 Time-of-Use (TOU) Error Error Code Err --3--- Possible Cause(s) A problem was detected in the Time-of-Use Schedule. Recommended Action This error indicates that there is a problem between the configuration data and the state of the meter. When this error occurs it may be logged to a History Log. A TOU non-fatal error can be cleared in several ways depending on what caused the condition: • On a reconfigure, if Calendar (and possibly TOU) configuration data is removed. • On a reconfigure that corrects the calendar and/or TOU configuration data. • On a set clock with a battery present and with correct Calendar and possibly TOU configuration data. Reverse Power Flow Error Error Code Err ---4-- Possible Cause(s) Reverse Power was detected on one or more phases. Recommended Action Firmware Versions prior to 3.21: Reverse power is tested every second and must fail three times successively to be recorded. Each phase is individually checked for reverse current. The reverse direction error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Firmware Version 3.21: Reverse power is tested every second and must fail three times successively to be recorded. Reverse power is tested on the phases only if the aggregate is in the reverse. The reverse direction error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Firmware Version 5.0 or above: Reverse power is tested every second and an accumulator is maintained. If power is delivered during the second, then the accumulator is cleared. If power is received during the second, then the accumulator is incremented. If the accumulator reaches the configured reverse power Wh threshold configured in the meter's program, then this error is triggered. The reverse direction error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Itron Metering Pocket Guide 117 Itron Metering Pocket Guide Load Profile Error Error Code Err ----5- Possible Cause(s) Clock not set, missing or dead battery. Recommended Action This error indicates that the meter has Load Profile configuration data, but either the clock has never been set or the battery is dead or missing. This error may be detected upon a power-up, a reconfigure, or a set clock. This error may be cleared as follows: • On a reconfigure, if Load Profile configuration data is removed. • On a set clock with a battery present. 118 Register Full Scale Exceeded Error Code Err -----6 Possible Cause(s) Programmed Full Scale Value Exceeded. Recommended Action This error is checked upon every Demand EOI, set clock, demand reset, enter Test Mode, and power-up. If the meter is configured for Max W Del, then that value is compared to the programmed threshold. The full scale overflow error displays after the interval during which the overflow occurred. The maximum demand register continues to accumulate and display kW as long as the format limitations are not exceeded. If a full scale overflow occurs, check the installation to ensure that the current capacity of the meter has not been exceeded. A full scale overflow in no way affects the existing billing data. This error will clear when a demand reset is performed. Error Code: Err 7----Error Code: Err -8---- Itron Metering Pocket Guide Reserved Reserved 119 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 120 SiteScan Error Note: Supported in Firmware Version 3.21 and above. Error Code Err --9--- Possible Cause(s) Meter not in a recognized service for the meter type. Recommended Action Verify site wiring. This error may be cleared: • On a reconfigure, if the SiteScan Override Service Type is changed to correct service. • On a power-up, if the SiteScan Auto-Service Sense detects correct meter service. Note: The check for this error will not start until SiteScan power-up delay time has passed. If this error is present, then SiteScan diagnostics are disabled. If SiteScan is configured to override service type in the meter program, then this test shall not be performed. Note: If multiple non-fatal errors occur, the meter will display a combined error message. For example, if a Low Battery and a Loss of Phase exist, the LCD display will show Err 12----. If one of the errors was programmed to lock and the other to scroll, the display will lock on the combined error message. Fatal Errors Fatal errors cause the display to lock on the error code because of the possibility that billing data may have been corrupted or that the meter may not be operating correctly. If multiple fatal errors occur, the one with the lowest number will be the error code that locks on the display. The SENTINEL meter will check for fatal errors: when a meter reconfigure is performed. when power is initially energized and upon future power restoration. while performing key operations. Fatal errors are cleared when they are corrected by the factory and the meter is reprogrammed. MCU Flash Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the program memory. Recommended Action If this error occurs, program the meter and check for proper operation. If the error continues to exist, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error1 Itron Metering Pocket Guide 121 Itron Metering Pocket Guide RAM Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the RAM. Recommended Action If the meter detects a RAM problem, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error2 DATA FLASH Error Possible Cause(s) The meter has detected a problem with the data flash. Recommended Action If this error occurs, program the meter and check for proper operation. If the error continues to exist, return the meter to the factory for repair. FAt Error Code Error3 122 Metrology Communication Error Possible Cause(s) Meter processor communication failure. Recommended Action Normally, any Fatal Error will cause the meter to stop all metering operations. However, a Metrology Communication Error is displayed as a Fatal Error, but will not shut down the meter. This error occurs when communications are interrupted between the meter processors. The error is registered, but the processors continue to attempt to communicate with each other. If communication between the processors resumes, the meter continues to operate; however, all register values are suspect due to lost data during the period when metering was interrupted. As with all Fatal Errors, the meter should be returned to the factory for repair.
