NEW! WHITE SPRUCE
These six year transplants are 24 inch HAND
SELECTED heavy plants. Grows 40 to 60 feet
in height. Spread 10 to 20 feet. Often recognized by the stiff needles that are light bluishgreen, usually less than 1 inch in length. The

spruce thrives in a wide variety of soils, from
well drained to moist. This tree is unique because it can endure heat and drought better
than others. Extremely hardy and will live where
many other varieties could not survive, from
sea level to 6,000 feet. Plant as an ornamental or may be used in shelterbelt plantings to
protect crops, wildlife, livestock and dwellings.

BLUECROP BLUEBERRY
Zone 4-7
FAST GROWING
Zone 2-6
These Northern Highbush Blueberries are 3 year transplants 10 to 12 inches. They
are multi-stemmed shrubs growing approximately 5 to 6 feet tall with equal spread.
Each blue-black berry has hundreds of tiny seeds and when spread by birds and
other wildlife will create new plants. Their fruit is popular with birds, foxes, chipmunks
and turkeys to name a few. These acid loving plants may be found naturally in marshes, around lakes, ponds and along streams. They do best in full sun. To prolong your
berry harvesting season, we suggest planting varieties which have different fruit maturation times so you can enjoy picking and eating blueberries from late July to early
October. The blueberry has a multitude of uses such as making jellies, jams and pies.
An excellent nutritional snack, rich in Vitamin C and antioxidents when eaten fresh
out of hand. Blueberries are not as perishable as most fresh fruit. Under refrigeration
blueberries will keep for several weeks. They are one of the easiest fruits to freeze.
The plants will start bearing fruit the year following planting and last 25 to 30 years.
Start a new or add to an existing berry patch with this collection of Blueberries. Plant
more than one variety for pollination. No shipments to OR, WA.

Growth rate of plants stated in descriptions are based on optimum growing conditions
without shearing. We cannot guarantee growth rate or survival rate. Most plants can
be sheared to maintain a smaller size. As plant sizes are dependent upon summer and
early fall weather, sizes listed in catalog are approximated at the the time of printing.
No adjustments will be made based on size discrepancies.
TREE SPACING
TIMBER PRODUCTION
Tree spacing will depend on your objectives and site conditions. There is no “ideal” layout, if your
objective is timber production, spacing trees with 50 to 100 square feet per tree is reasonable,
i.e. an 8 ft. x 10 ft. spacing is 80 square feet per tree; a 10 ft. x 10 ft. spacing is 100 square feet
per tree. This would calculate to 850 to 450 trees per acre.

NORWAY SPRUCE TRANSPLANTS
PRECISION SOWN SEEDLINGS
We are offering 2 and 3 year seedlings sown with our Summit Seeder. This machine

THE FIGURES 3-0, 2-1, 2-2 indicate the number of years the trees have been in the
seed beds and the transplants beds. The sum of all figures is the total age of the
tree. Transplants have a heavier stem, heavier root system and are more branched
than seedlings. Plants in plastic pots are 3 to 4 years of age.

DWARF RHODODENDRON PJM LAVENDER
MOUNTAIN LAUREL
Zone 4-7
PJM, Aglo, Bright Pink
These plants were propagated from selected native Mountain Laurel showing the glossiest foliage and most dense
growth habit. Flowers will range in shades from purple, deep pink, light pink to white, in May to June. Intensity of
flower color depends on temperature and light exposure as buds open. Although slow growing when first planted,
certainly well worth the wait. Does best in filtered sun. Extremely well drained acidic soil, similar to woodland conditions. Should be planted shallow, so roots are just covered and mulched with oak leaves and/or pine needles, which
will leach acid into your soil. This is a woodland plant and has minimal fertility requirements. Native range is Maine
to Georgia. Sorry, but due to agriculture restrictions in your state, we cannot ship Mountain Laurel to AL, AK, AZ,
AR, CA, CO, HI, ID, IA, KS, LA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, ND, OK, OR, PR, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI and Canada.

for profuse flowering, but tolerates deep shade. Truly loves rich, moist, acid, well drained soil. Also
may be planted in soil ranging from some sand to clay loam. Attracts birds. Deer tolerant. This bushy

scarlet clusters of star-shaped buds open to clear, soft pink blooms. The five-sided, small cupped
flowers are abundant and fade from pink to white with age. For the best flowering possibilities plant
in full sun, but will tolerate shade well. Soil condition preference is acidic, moist and well drained.

NEW! COTTON GRASS Zone 4-9
Eriophorum angustifolium
Also known as Cotton Candy Grass or Bog Grass. Even though it looks like a form of grass, technically it is a sedge with slender leaves like grass. This evergreen grass has slender, purplish foliage in
the flower stocks. The stems are dense bristles that grow to a height of 18 to 24 inches tall with 3 to
5 white or nearly white inflorescences on top of the stems. These fluffy beads are seed heads, which
are spread with the help of wind pollination. The bristles help the blooms survive for a long time in
the form of white hair after they bloom in late summer or early fall. Full sun planting site required.
This perennial needs sandy, loamy or clay soil to grow, it is okay if the soil is not well drained. Acidic
soil that remains consistently moist to wet is best. An ideal spot to plant is near a pond or as a bog
garden plant. The cotton swab-like blooms have been used to stuff pillows as an alternative to geese
feathers. An impressive sight to observe the white heads dancing and swaying in the wind.

shaped plumes grow up and out in an erect manner atop 14 to 18 inch stems. Cream or buff colored

in evenly moist but well drained, sandy to clay soil. Ideal for edging, borders, rock gardens and in

LITTLE BUNNY GRASS
PINK PAMPAS GRASS
Cortaderia selloana ‘Rosea’
Zone 6-10
Also known as Pink Feather. A most unusual and strikingly beautiful, huge clump of lush medium
green foliage growing to a height of 6 to 7 feet. Grant plenty of room to spread, 4 to 6 feet. Select
a planting site with regard to passersby coming in contact with the very sharp edges of the leaves.
The sturdy, fresh green bloomstalks reach anywhere from 6 to 9 feet tall, capped by enormous 18 to
24 inch brilliant rosy-pink “featherdusters” in August. May be planted in a wide range of well drained
soils. Tolerant of salt spray making this an ideal grass for coastal landscapes. Deer, drought, wind
and pollution resistant. Due to its very rapid growth, Pampas Grass is an attractive privacy screening
plant for a lightly dappled to full sun location. Perfect in dried flower arrangements. Stunning accent,
adds winter interest, texture and color to any garden it graces.

Also known as Red Switch Grass. An upright, airy clump of narrow, blue-green leaves reaching a
height of 4 to 5 feet. The tidy 2 to 3 feet wide cascading foliage begins to turn red in mid summer,
followed by a spectacular deep burgundy color in fall. Reddish-pink plumes form in late summer on
stalks that tower above the foliage. In late season the flower heads turn a vivid crimson. Tolerant of
a wide range of soil, but prefers moist, sandy or clay soils. Plant in sun or part shade. Non-invasive.
Wildlife habitat. Deer resistant. Don’t be surprised to find a butterfly at rest in the shelter of this native
grass. The intense blends of reds and maroons make a striking multi-seasonal appearance. If soft
whisperings of a tall grass in the evening breeze sounds inviting, this specimen is an unmistakable
choice.

GRASSES
From spring green to winter gold, the drama of grasses is
nonstop. There are the striking yellow and green ostrich
plumes of Zebra Grass. The fine textured leaves of Blue
Oat Grass. Flame Grass’s dazzling red-orange leaves.
Fountain Grass’s coppery brushes. The rich brown nuggets of Northern Sea Oats and the feathery purple haze
of Switch Grass. Whether on their own or as backdrops
for colorful garden flowers, ornamental grasses are admired for their color, form, movement and texture. They
also aid in erosion control, soil stabilization, and water
retention, making them great conservation tools for gardeners in all hardiness zones. Although
grasses are widely available at garden centers all over North America, few books advise the
gardener on how to use them in the garden and especially how to combine them with perennials
and other plants. GRASSES features plans and practical advice for more than 24 unique gardens.
It is complete with an identification and growing guide to the plants, and it features more than 150
full color photographs, illustrations and landscape plants.

Soil Moist Transplant is formulated from several species of beneficial mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria plus water storing polymer crystals. Most planting sites lack the beneficial requirements that
new trees, plants and shrubs require, due to tillage, home construction, mining and the removal
of top soils. These activities reduce the mycorrhizal forming potential of soil that occur naturally
in undisturbed areas. Product benefits include increased nutrient and water uptake, reducing
plant waterings. Reduction of transplanting stress and plant loss. Increases plant establishment.
Effective for all types of trees and plants especially potted stock with the exception of laurels,
rhododendrons and azaleas. The granules must be placed in contact with the root ball for the
fungi to colonize. After planting, deep soak the plant with water.

Soil Moist Root Dip is formulated to inoculate bare root stock prior
to planting or shipping. The formulation contains a diverse blend
of five species of healthy viable ectomycorrhizal propagules and
seven species of endomycorrhizal propagules that are adapted
to a wide range of plants and habitat conditions. Five strains of
trichoderma are included in the mixture to produce natural growth
hormones and enhance disease suppression. Musser Water Gel
has been added to the root dip to further increase the moisture
retention of plants and soil. The water gel is a non-toxic crosslinked
polyacrylamide. The benefits of this product are an important factor to plant survival, establishment and growth. The soil and plant
ecosystem is improved. Nutrient and water uptake is increased. Lessens transplanting stress.
Three ounces of product will make one gallon of slurry. While agitating one gallon of water
in a bucket, slowly add root dip. Continue to mix a few minutes into a slurry or thick gravy
consistency. Let product stand 10 to 15 minutes. Immediately before planting, dip roots into
mixture making sure roots are entirely coated. Effective on all types of plants and trees with the
exception of laurels, rhododendrons and azaleas.

The dry gel should be mixed with water to create a thick slurry. Plant roots should be dipped
in and out of the mix immediately prior to planting or carried to the planting site in a bucket
of the mix. Musser Water Gel will retain the moisture around the roots at planting time and
for several months, it will continue to attract and retain moisture at the root zone every time it
rains or plants are artificially watered. Dry water gel is also used to coat seeds prior to planting.
As adequate moisture is the most
important key factor to plant survival,
we strongly recommend this product.

MOISTURE GUARD
Moisture Guard is the “wax” in Hot Pepper Wax. It is what keeps the
repellent in place on your plants and because it is an antitranspirant, it
helps to provide an extra dose of moisture loss protection. Prevent
moisture loss when transplanting shrubs, rooted cuttings, ground
covers and trees. Studies have shown treated plants get a healthier start
and grow bigger than untreated plants.
Moisture Guard alone has no insect or animal repellent properties.
However, it contains more wax than Hot Pepper Wax and provides
protection for trees and shrubs from drying out over the winter. Protect
nursery stock, plants and seedlings from moisture loss when transporting.
The most popular use for Moisture Guard is during the winter holiday
season. Keep wreaths and garlands fresher looking for several weeks
longer with Moisture Guard.

LIQUID FENCE DEER AND
RABBIT REPELLENT
Liquid Fence was invented by Clark
Kaskie in the Pocono Mountains in
Pennsylvania. His need to protect his
own plants led to the development of
this biodegradable, environmentally
friendly, easy to use product. To ensure
good adhesion, apply spray to plants
when dry. Simply spray on and around
plants you want to protect. Spray until
a wet look is achieved. Deer and rabbits are repelled by the odor of Liquid
Fence(a formulation of egg and garlic)
rather than the taste, as most products offered on the market. Animals find the smell offensive
and without even a nibble, will avoid plant and garden areas. Proven effective 12 months out
of the year, especially in winter when food becomes scarce and outdoor shrubbery becomes
inviting. A once a month application will keep plants safe from the critters. Long lasting, rain
resistant.

BLUECROP BLUEBERRY
SPECIAL #7
NORTHERN HIGHBUSH BLUEBERRY COLLECTION Zone 4-7
FAST GROWING
These Northern Highbush Blueberries are 3 year transplants 10 to 12 inches. They are multi-stemmed
shrubs growing approximately 5 to 6 feet tall with equal spread. Each blue-black berry has hundreds of
tiny seeds and when spread by birds and other wildlife will create new plants. Their fruit is popular with
birds, foxes, chipmunks and turkeys to name a few. These acid loving plants may be found naturally in
marshes, around lakes, ponds and along streams. They do best in full sun. To prolong your berry harvesting season, we suggest planting varieties which have different fruit maturation times so you can enjoy
picking and eating blueberries from late July to early October. The blueberry has a multitude of uses such
as making jellies, jams and pies. An excellent nutritional snack, rich in Vitamin C and antioxidents when
eaten fresh out of hand. Blueberries are not as perishable as most fresh fruit. Under refrigeration blueberries will keep for several weeks. They are one of the easiest fruits to freeze. The plants will start bearing
fruit the year following planting and last 25 to 30 years. Start a new or add to an existing berry patch
with this collection of Blueberries. Plant more than one variety for pollination. No shipments to OR, WA.
