BIOGRAPHY
The Emphasis will be the band to watch in the next couple of years. With intensely poetic
lyrics, cutting drum and bass, and faultless guitar melodies, The Emphasis thoughtfully
bridges the edginess of progressive rock and the excitement of pop punk together.
Forming in January of 2001, The Emphasis hails from Warrington Pennsylvania. With
musical influences ranging from; Rufio, The Get Up Kids, Nirvana, Built to Spill, Failure, to
Aesop Rock, and RX Bandits, The Emphasis attempts to transcend the mediocrity of the
present music scene in hopes to help rebuild a new one. Members: Dan Pawlovich,
George Zbyr, Max Soria, and John Benson all having prior band experiences, the music
and band came together rather quickly.
Soon after their formation, The Emphasis started spreading a buzz throughout VFW halls
and Small Clubs all over the suburbs of Philadelphia. Only after a few shows, the group
wrote and produced their own full length CD in the basement of George's (lead guitar)
parent's house. Within a couple months the band went on to sell hundreds of copies of
their full length CD and began to gain a larger fan base through online promotion and
playing almost every weekend anywhere possible since 2001. Included amongst
numerous DIY projects was the coordinated release of the 2003 split EP with the band
Marden. The disc sold out the entire first pressing in one night (100 copies). The band
currently is recording a new full length at Left Hook Studios in New Hope PA with intents
that this upcoming release will be the explosive to date.
Watch for a five song teaser from their upcoming full length expected late this summer
only available on their website www.theemphasis.net. No matter where you go or what
music you listen to, The Emphasis will be the band of 2004 that you will be hearing
about.
