Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Volume 8, Issue 6 June - July 2005 New Concessionaire at Fire Island Fire Island National Seashore has awarded a new 10 year concessions contract for the operation of park facilities at Watch Hill, Sailors Haven and Barrett Beach. Included are two marinas, a campground, three snack bars, two convenience stores and a restaurant. The contract, awarded to Fire Island Concessions, LLC, owned by Sayville Ferry Co. operator Ken Stein, includes a committment by Stein to invest $1,259,000 in facilities improvement. Included will be an upgraded Watch Hill electrical system and repaired docks and bulkheads there. The Watch Hill snack bar and restaurant will also be renovated. The snack bar is open this season, but the restaurant is not expected to re-open until next summer. Watch Hill will also get an additional snack bar and convenience store. Marina improvements are slated for Sailors Haven. Barrett Beach needs dock work before it can open with new ferry service, probably next year.
