Guide to Economical Health Services
1
Maintaining good health is a special preoccupation for New
Americans, more than half of whom lack insurance.
ANNE MARIE
WEISS ARMUSH
PRESIDENT AND
FOUNDER
With all North Texans in mind, since 2003 we have published
a Guide that has helped thousands of people access free or
low cost medical attention. This project is made possible by
corporate partners who value the contributions of the New
Americans who revitalize our nation as well as those who
were born here.
We recognize that we are unique in the world because
all Americans —except for our indigenous people— are
descended from immigrants. Throughout our history we have
relied on the expertise, strength, and special skills of foreign
workers. Their cultures and the challenges they continue to
face as they assimilate are the story of our country. Their
hopes and dreams, their belief in family and freedom, continue
to enrich and energize America.

With the creation of this guide, DFW International Community Alliance does not intend to
endorse any establishment or diagnose medical conditions, offer health advice, or recommend
specific products or services. Its sole purpose is to communicate information about health
services available in the area. This is strictly a list of services offered in North Texas and we
are not responsible for services provided by the included organizations.
We recommend that you call any of the listed health centers before arriving to verify that the
hours of operation have not changed.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to Pfizer, local libraries and school districts for
their continuing support which made this Guide possible. This directory was updated by DFW
International’s Director of Educational Programs Yamilec Calvario, with interns Sarah Joseph
and Elisabeth Black. Photographs were provided by the Hispanic Wellness Coalition, Voces

Meet
Pfizer Helpful Answers
Promotora
Rosa Vargas
When Rosa Vargas and her family moved to the Dallas / Ft. Worth metro
area six years ago from Chicago, she was at a loss as to where to go
to learn about services and assistance that her family might need. In
her neighborhood, no one seemed to know. Now, as a Pfizer-trained
promotora, Rosa helps people learn about Pfizer Helpful Answers and other
industry patient assistance programs for the uninsured or underinsured.
She has learned to speak to groups about the programs, as well as to
connect individuals to appropriate community health care resources such
as affordable clinics and community health centers. Rosa is dedicated to
helping others help themselves, so much so that she has organized two
successful Health and Community Resource Fairs in her neighborhood.
