1 Uxbridge walk A short circular walk of approximately 1.5 miles that takes in 2 attractive parks and a section of the Grand Union canal. Walk along High street, past Fountains Mill Young People’s Centre on your left. Cross the road towards the Crown and Treaty pub and continue to walk over the canal road bridge. 2 At the Xerox offices turn sharp left onto the path in front of the offices. Proceed through a single gate and turn right onto the canal tow path. 3 Exit to the slope and proceed left over the bridge along Rockingham Road. 4 At the Dolphin pub, cross over the road and proceed along Waterloo Road, Then branch left into Fray’s Waye. 5 Enter Rockingham Recreation Ground and follow the pathway directly across the park. 6 At end of path turn left, Fray’s River will be on your right. Proceed out of the park via car park. 7 Walk across the road into Rockingham Parade. Directly in front of you, you will see St John’s R oad Fassnidge Park gates. 8 Enter Fassnidge Park, you will see an orientation board on the right of the gates. 9 Keep to the left hand path with the bandstand L on your right. 10 At Oxford Road crossing, pass the Atrium offices on the left. Cross the road towards the Crown and Treaty pub and continue to walk over the canal road bridge. 3 Enter the Swan and Bottle pub car park and turn right onto the Grand Union canal towpath. 4 Exit to the slope and proceed left over the bridge along Rockingham Road. 5 At the Dolphin pub, cross over the road and proceed along Waterloo Road, Then branch left into Fray’s Waye. 6 Enter Rockingham Recreation Ground and follow the pathway directly across the park. John’shead 7 Exit left via Wellington RoadStand Road towards the traffic lights at Marjacks roundabout. On your right hand side there is a war memorial to commemorate those lost from Uxbridge during both World Wars L 8 Cross over at the traffic lights and you will enter the oldest part of Uxbridge, Windsor Street. Continue up the road, past St Margaret’s Church. Enter Rockingham Recreation Ground and turn left along the perimeter, following the man-made Fray’s River which runs the St John’s R oad mills at Little Britain, West Drayton. ne t La L Cr os sS am Ro ockingh Bus station The Pavilions ord Oxf 4 Cross Trumper Way and head down Cowley Road, turning right into Wellington Road. R m gha kin ocarade P 3 Walk across the roundabout. On your left you will pass a war memorial commemorating those lost from Uxbridge during both World Wars. Fountains Mill Fassnidge Park Grand Union Canal 2 At the end of the road cross over at the traffic light. o ad ford R 1 Start at Uxbridge Underground Station. This on the Piccadilly and Metropolitan Lines and was originally built identically to Cockfosters Station at the other end of the line. Head straight into Windsor Street, the oldest part of Uxbridge, past St Margaret’s church. Pass St Margaret’s church and walk to the end of the road. Cross the street to the War Memorial on the roundabout. 2 At the War Memorial, cross Trumper Way and head down Cowley Road, turning right into Wellington Road. 3 Cross the footbridge over Fray’s River. Enter the park and follow the path straight ahead across the park, then left along the perimeter. 4 Turn right into Austin Waye and then left into Waterloo Road. 5 At the end of the road turn right across the bridge and cross the road. Go down the steps and walk along the Grand Union canal towpath. 6 Exit the towpath and turn right onto Iver Lane. Bear right onto the London Loop public footpath U65. Proceed through the kissing gate and follow the path along the River Colne. 7 Go through the gate to Longbridge Way. At Cowley Mill Road cross over into Culvert Lane and turn left when you reach the towpath. 8 At bridge 185 leave the towpath via the steps and cross the main road towards the Swan and Bottle pub. Turn onto Oxford Road and cross the canal bridge. Continue past the Crown and Treaty pub. 9 At Fountains Mill Young People’s Centre head straight up the High Street towards the main shopping precinct and Uxbridge Station. 8 W A longer circular walk of just under 4 miles that can start and end in Uxbridge High Street or at other key points. The walk crosses Rockingham recreation ground and then along the Grand Union canal before turning back along the River Colne to rejoin the canal and return to Uxbridge. Ha re fie ld Uxbridge walk Ri
