BOV Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 20th September 2009 Bank of Valletta supports AIDA at the Aurora Theatre Bank of Valletta is supporting the production of Giuseppe Verdi’s AIDA which will be held at the Aurora Opera Theatre in Victoria Gozo coming October 10th 2009. The opera coincides with the tenth anniversary of the first production of this opera held at the Aurora Theatre in April 1999. The performance will be held under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Dr George Abela, the President of Malta. This year’s performance features an international cast starring world-renowned tenor Franco Farina (U.S.) as Radamès the warrior, soprano Elena Zelenskaya (Russia) as Princess Aïda, baritone Yasuo Horiuchi (Japan) as her Royal Ethiopian father Amonasro and mezzo-soprano Tea Demurishvili (Georgia) as the loving and vengeful Egyptian Princess Amneris who rounds the quartet of principals. Also included in the line up are bass Noel Galea (Malta) as Ramfis the High Priest, bass Nikolay Bikov (Bulgaria) as the King of Egypt, Francesco Sauzullo (Italy) as the messenger and the Teatru Aurora’s very own soprano Claudia Tabone (Malta) as the High Priestess. Jack Thewma, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Gozo Branch met Dr Michael Caruana, president of the Leone Philharmonic Society, owner and manager of the theatre, to present the Bank’s sponsorship. “Bank of Valletta regularly supports activities related to Art and Culture.
