of all kinds, as well as one for single adults. We also
offer eleven youth camp experiences for elementary,
junior high, and senior high youth throughout the Pacific
Northwest.

Elementary camps offer an introductory experience to allow
children to learn more about their relationships with God,
Jesus, and others. They are taught basic Christian values of
love, respect, and kindness, as well as how to live in community with others. Elementary camps offer an opportunity for
fun through nature, crafts, games, and team building.

JUNIOR HIGH
Junior High camps offer a rich experience of growing
in relationship with God and Jesus. At a time when
kids start to question their understandings, our Junior
High camps provide a safe, loving place to address
their questions and thoughts. The Gospel of Jesus
Christ is taught in such a way that the campers learn about
a loving God who does not judge, but offers grace. At Junior
High camp, they learn that a relationship with their Creator
can be fun, as well as transformational.

This week will focus on self-discovery, self-confidence and
self-assurance. How do you finish the sentence, “I am...?” Our
positive environment created by our attentive staff will lovingly guide each of our girls through a process that will build
their own self-knowledge, as well as develop their relationship with God. God finished the sentence, “I am that I am.”

SENIOR HIGH
Senior High camps further the deepening of the connection with
self, others, and God. Campers are taught to have an awareness
and appreciation of the blessings they experience. Our Senior
High camps provide a safe place to struggle with the complexities of life, while nurturing personal and communal growth.
There is a focus on disciple formation by learning more fully
about scripture, mission, and the nature of God.

We will explore generosity concepts and the process of

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
We want to make sure every GPNW camper
who wants to attend a youth camp has the
ability to participate. Limited financial aid is
available from the GPNW Mission Center. Be
sure to contact your congregation for potential financial support before requesting assistance from GPNW. A Youth Camp Financial
Aid Form is on page 6. The completed form
and camper’s portion of payment must be
submitted with the Registration Form by the
Early Bird or Registration Deadline.

VISITORS AT CAMP
We offer a “closed camp” experience at our
youth camps. There are to be no visitors unless
recruited by the Camp Director. This includes
youth who cannot attend the whole week
but want to drop in for part of the day. Visitors cause disruption to the camp experience
and create potential safety concerns.

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS
Parents of special needs campers must
contact the Camp Director prior to registration to discuss arrangements for a possible
attendant (who must be a registered youth
worker). Because we have volunteer staff, the
camping program is not equipped to provide
trained assistants. We want to be inclusive
in our camping program, and also want to
provide a safe and secure environment for
our campers.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to and from camp is provided
by the parent/guardian. If your child is sent
home for behavior or health concerns, it will
be the responsibility of the parent/guardian
to arrange transportation from the campground in a timely, efficient manner.
Campers should arrive and depart camp
according to published times. Late arrival or
early departure will not typically be allowed,
as they are disruptive to the camp experience. If you have special circumstances, seek
the Camp Director’s approval in advance.
PERSONAL ITEMS
The camp and Mission Center are not responsible for any lost or stolen items at camp.
MEDICATIONS
All medications must be listed on the registration form. Prescribed medications must be
in the container dispensed by the pharmacy,
with pharmacy instructions intact. Over-thecounter medications must be in the original
manufacturer’s container, labeled with the
camper’s name and specific instructions. All
medications stay with the Camp Nurse in a
secure location.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Weapons of any kind, illegal drugs, alcohol,
marijuana, bad attitude, inappropriate
reading material, foul language, large
electronics such as laptop and gaming
systems, and large amounts of cash. It is
also discouraged to bring snacks including candy & gum, and smaller electronics
such as iPods, cell phones, etc. These items
may be confiscated at the Camp Director’s
discretion.

Families sometimes need financial assistance, and we want to make sure that every GPNW camper who wants to attend a
youth camp or retreat has the ability to participate. Limited financial aid is available. We offer assistance FIRST COME, FIRST
SERVED. For the best opportunity to receive financial help, submit your Registration Form and Financial Aid Form early!
(Spectacular/IYF and Caravan have a separate process. If you need financial assistance for these, contact the event director.)
There are four ways to receive financial assistance for GPNW youth camps and retreats:

help send you to a youth camp or youth retreat, before requesting assistance from the Mission Center. Many congregations
have designated funds for this purpose.

Enjoy the renewal of friendships and the wide range of ages
joining in fun and fellowship at Lewis River Reunion! Celebrate the new campground improvements, especially the
central playground area and the growing interest of the
tepee camp on the hill. For the adventurous, explore the
waterfalls up the hill or swim in the river below. Families
gather around the creek while children and grandchildren
play with glee, teens reconnect to old friends, and adults
gather for chats under a tree - all are part of the week’s
experience. Music, laughter, learning, new opportunities for
discipleship, sharing one’s heart: are all possibilities within
the week experience.
Activities
Reunion highlights include empowering worships, meaningful sharing, engaging classes, and a Wednesday night
barbecue and talent show. A Tuesday afternoon meeting with the Lewis River Campground Association is open
to all. Campfires, youth evening activities, and afternoon
recreation are just a few things that are scheduled to create
community within the reunion experience.

High Priest Barbara is a member of
the Council of Twelve Apostles assigned to the Southeast USA Mission
Field, Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministries, Spectacular, and the International Youth Forum. Barbara previously served as Apostle-designate and
Field Apostolic Assistant for the North
East USA Mission Field and was President of the Sierra Pacific USA Mission
Center and San Francisco Bay Stake. She was Bishop for the
South Central States Region and Stewardship Commissioner
for the Southeast Region.
A native of Lincoln City, Oregon, Barbara received a
bachelor’s degree in psychology from Graceland College, a
master’s degree in religion from Park College (Missouri), and
a master’s degree in counseling from Wichita State University (Kansas).

Ministries, providing pastoral care and support to 50 congregations, as Mission Center President

David Nii is Bishop of the USA. He has

widowed or divorced, who enjoy fellowship, recreation
and ministry directed by Community of Christ ministers
and friends. We are a community of singles gathering to
offer friendship and support while sharing meals, worship

peace, joy, hope and love!
Activities
Enjoy Samish Island Campground for rest, relaxation and
rejuvenation as we walk the labyrinth, view Mt. Baker
while picking blackberries, and play cards and board
games late into the night. We will enjoy worship and theme
classes by Evangelist Pam Cress and classes that will assist
with all of life’s transitions from visiting Life Coach Michele

Michele Frith Szabo M.S., is a Certified
Life Coach and Challenge Coordinator
at The Women’s Resource Center of
Sarasota County. She is the program
creator and trainer of the Interpersonal Development Program: Life
Shifting.
Michele has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Roanoke College (Virginia) and a master’s degree in human
resources from the University of Newcastle (Bangladesh).
She has also lived in Hungary, Indonesia and Malaysia and
has conducted multicultural understanding and diversity
training though cultural acclimation seminars.

It’s Not Too Late to Participate - July 20-30, 2016!
“SPEC” is an annual week-long leadership, sports, music, and
arts camp held at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. It
is attended by high school students and staff from around
the world. The mission is to create a safe, Christ-centered
community that encourages youth to discover God, their
inherent worth, and cultivate and express their giftedness.
