Transitional Housing: TH is a two-year program offering subsidized rental assistance and supportive services to homeless single women and women with children. Scattered Site Housing: SSH is a two-year program offering rent/utility assistance and case management services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and harassment. Rapid Rehousing: RR is a program that offers financial and case management services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The goal of the program is to assist in obtaining safe, affordable, permanent housing. These programs provided by the YWCA Resource Center are vital to our community. We thank you for your support of this essential mission program of the YWCA-Clinton. The goal of the YWCA is to empower individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse, or homelessness. Our program provides safe, affordable, violence-free housing to women, women with children, men and families. Case management and shelter are offered to those affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse and homelessness. All services are free and confidential. Donations: Without the generosity of caring people, we would not be able to help those in our community most in need. The following is a list of items needed in our housing programs: Children / Women's Underwear Gas Cards Hy-Vee gift certificates Deodorant Towels / Washcloths / Hand towels Body Wash / Razors Family-size Shampoo / Conditioner Children's Shampoo Sweat Suits for Kids Adult and Kids Socks Woman's Bedroom Slippers (Size 7-10) Adult Sweat Suits (Sizes M - XXL) Infant, Toddler, and Children's PJ's Toilet Paper Paper Towels Bus Passes Frozen Pizzas / Dinners Bottles of Juice Laundry Soap and Fabric Softener Thank you! Please bring donations to the YWCA front desk. 12 2015 will bring many changes to the YWCA-Clinton; one of which is the closing of our Emergency Shelter and shelter-based Transitional Housing programs effective June 2015. While we are saddened to see these programs close, we are also heartened by our plans to expand both our Rapid Rehousing and our scattered-site Transitional Housing programs. We have been working diligently to plan for a sustainable future for our Crisis Services program. The State of Iowa Attorney General’s decision to regionalize victim services has left our shelter-based services in a very vulnerable position. And, as hard as we have all worked to raise funds in response to the state’s decision, we simply cannot replace a $250,000 cut in funding with local giving, each and every year going forward. The generosity of our donors has made it possible for us to continue serving our community in the face of this $250,000 cut in state funding. In fact, we have been operating our Emergency Shelter solely with local donations since July 2014. We have, however, determined that this level of local giving is not sustainable in the long term. Knowing this, the YWCA Board of Directors made the difficult decision to close our Emergency Shelter and shelter-based Transitional Housing programs on June 30, 2015. SafePath Survivor Resources has been operating in the community as the state-funded provider of shelter- A very special supporter of the YWCA, Marilyn Deegan, recently purchased a new car and donated her gently used car to the YWCA. The new owner of this vehicle is a participant in our Transitional Housing Program. Pictured here is Pam the Transitional Housing Coordinator holding the title to the vehicle. This is the 2nd vehicle Marilyn and her late husband have donated to the YWCA to help families! We thank you, Marilyn! based sexual assault & domestic violence services since July 2014 and can be reached at 866-921-3354. On a positive note, because of new government funding options, we will be expanding our Rapid Rehousing and scattered-site Transitional Housing programs to be able to serve more people in need. These two housing programs serve men, women and children in our community who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and homelessness. In addition, we will now be able to expand our services to include entire families who are experiencing homelessness which is a very real problem in our community. Community support for our local YWCA is still very much needed and appreciated. We will continue to need donations of food, toiletries, gift cards, gas cards, and with our expanding housing programs, we will rely on local donations to support the case management services we provide, to pay for child care as our clients seek employment or further their education, and to cover the myriad costs and needs involved in starting over in a new home. We truly appreciate the heartfelt support our community has shown us over the years. And, as always, we remain committed to the wellbeing and safety of survivors and will continue to advocate for the rights of victims. Thank you for your support!
