Producer oi.Ihe Blackwash Televised Art Gallery T ,-* he artistic communities of the Bronx and Harlem have some great holiday treats to offer you in December ... and in close proximity to each other!! Hop on The Bronx Trolley at Longwood Art Ga\lery@ Hostos. Trip Schedule: 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30. Take a tour of the South Bronx Cultural Corridor. Admission to the trolley is free as well as the venue stops on its route. It is also wheelchair accessible. The Longwood Art Gallery is just across the 145th Street Bridge that connects Harlem and the Bronx Communities. The bridge is a pleasant walk, but if you'd rather ride, both the 3 train and the 19 bus will bring you to the bridge and the 19 bus will bring Harlemites across the bridge. The 2,4 and 5 trains stop directly in front of Hostos at 149th St. and the Grand Concourse for those coming to the festivities from other places. 5:30pm to 8:30pm - Exhibition at Longwood Art Gallery: Las Casitas Revisited. Contributing Artists: Martha Cooper, Juan Fernando Morales, Jose "Cherna" Sota, and Aurelio Rivera. Contributing Collectors: Henry Medina, Ivan Torres, and Richard Tanco. Join us in this important exploration of urban Puerto Rican culture and vernacular architecture. The original exhibition opened at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.. traveled to Chicago and closed at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in 1991. BronxArtworks Holiday Craft Sale will also be going on in the rotunda of the college outside the gallery. Artists Diane Davis, Valerie Irizarry, Fran Marino, Hector Melendez, Elizabeth Ortiz, Ester Pagan and Diana Pucci will have their art on display and for sale. Another activity going on that night is Kwanzaa 2010 at 7:00pm in the Hostos RepertoryTheater. This celebration is created with an African Market, entertainment and a Kwanzaa feast. Admission is .free but you must get a ticket from the Hostos Theater Box Office.. For more information and tickets call 718-518-4455. One more activity for the evening: In the Gallery - Coquito Tasting Competition. Hostos has, been designated as an Official International Coquito Federation site to hold this evening's Coquito Tasting Competition. Time to be announced. Llanos reflect. ing Ray's unique and amazing perspective on Harlem. 1:OOpmOur Earth: In the Cosmos and Ecology featuring the works of jack Cesareo and Eze Talento. 4:00pm - a musical presentation by The Flute Choir. Open studio tours of artists studios in Workspace Harlem will be available to you also. f-ecently, one WorkSpace Harlem artist was featured III the Daily News: Wilhelmina Obatola Grant, a two time cancer survivor and cancer awareness advocate will be there to share her work and her story Saturday and Sunday. Wilhelmina educates Afncan American Women about breast cancer through her art. Sunday December 5th at Workspace Harlem on 5th Avenue Holidays Market: 12:00noon to 6pm Celebrate the Holidays with the Artists of Workspace Harlem featuring an all day Paint-A Thon, workshop with Constance Gruen then at 2:00pm Papermaking Workshop presented by Risa Schneider. This two day event includes a Holiday Art Market in our main corridor, handmade scarves', greeting cards, [me art collages and other works as well as individual artists Open Studio tours of the 50 or so artists studios in WorkSpace Harlem, 2340 5th Avenue between l4lst and 142nd Streets. Directions to WorkSpace ! Harlem: Take the 2 or 3 train to 145th & Lenox or take the 5 or 6 tp 138th and Grand Concourse and walk across the 138th Street Bridge or get the 33 bus across. You can also take the 4 train to 149th and the-Grand Concourse, transfer to the 19 bus and walk to 142nd & 5th Avenue or just walk across the 145th St. bridge to 142nd.
