Simpson & Davenport, Cherry Tooth Paste, detailed Coat of Arms trade mark, Melbourne. Blue lid with black print. 80 mm diameter. This lid has been graded as Excellent, it has light surface scratches, some crazing, there is a possible small hairline coming from a tiny impact under the flange, this may be crazing. We have given this a numerical grading of 8.8. One of a series of blue Melbourne pot lids featuring a Coat of Arms, this version is similar to the Blackett’s of Williamstown with the English Coat of Arms. This is quite a rare lid in this great condition, and would add well to any pot lid collection. Estimate: $2000 - 2500. 216. Dr Mawdsley’s Cordial Co. Three masted sailing ship trade mark. This superb aqua bottle stands an imposing 364 mm tall. We have graded this as Excellent, it has a tiny lip flake, some scratches and scuffs throughout, small manufacturing splits to lip and a small impact mark under the front base. We have given this a numerical grading of 8.2. One of Australia’s rarest cordials, this is a Melbourne bottle that is amongst the pinnacle of cordial bottles. There are only a handful of these known to collectors, this is a choice piece which would top off any cordial collection or even any general collection. Estimate: $5000 - 6500. 161. Henry Wilding, Cross with Stars trade mark, Queenscliff, two tone ginger beer. A fat shape bottle, this one stands at 222 mm tall. The print has a bit of a blue appearance to it. We have graded this as Excellent, it has an inner lip nick, which measures 8 x 3 mm, this has some shininess to it, could be partially from manufacture. The back base has a shallow 12 x 4 mm flake, there is crazing in the tan glaze at the top and some minor discolouration. We have given this a numerical grading of 8.9. This is an exceptionally rare ginger beer. There are two variations, the J.W. Wilding ginger beer is rare, this Henry Wilding version is considerably rarer again, these are just impossible to obtain. Of the few that we have seen, they have all had lip damage which has been repaired, this is quite possibly the best example known. This is a great opportunity to buy one of the rarest Victorian ginger beers available. Estimate: $1000 - 1250. 319. W. E. Pardey & Co., Chemists, Geelong. Dark Emerald Green. Only 55 mm tall. We have graded this as Near Mint, it has tiny fleabites to lip, base and front panel, also a scratch can be found. We have given this a numerical grading of 9.4. This is an exceptionally rare poison, possibly unique! All poisons in this emerald green colour are very sought after. Estimate: $150 - 200. 292. Webber’s Indian Oil of Cream. Original label stating Head Office: Launceston, Tasmania. 154 mm tall. This is Near Mint, some grime, light base wear, label is slightly discoloured, tiny tears to the corners. We have given this a numerical grading of 9.4. Amazing item, most likely unique like this! Estimate: $500 - 600. 234. Wittners Dairy & Farm, Balwyn. Clear glass quart sized milk bottle standing 271 mm tall. This bottle has been graded as Near Mint, it has some light scratches, a shallow and small flake under the base and some minor nibbles around the sharp base edge. We have given this a numerical grading of 9.1. Apart from a couple of examples, nearly all Australian milk bottles in the Quart size are considered rare. This is no exception, in fact this could be amongst the rarest of the lot, we are not aware of any others in collections at this stage. Estimate: $750 - 1000. 70. H. J. Gamble, Bell trade mark, Melbourne. This superb deep amethyst riley stands 254 mm tall. We have graded this as Excellent, it has light internal haze, some rust spots, a few scratches and scuffs, a very shallow 2 x 1 mm flake to the top of lip, some minor wear to the lettering, but overall is a great example. We have given this a numerical grading of 8.1. This bottle was found many years ago wedged into a stone farm fence, where it had been for around 50 years, hence the natural deep amethyst colour! This bottle is exceptionally rare in this colour, it may even be the darkest example.
