ISLAAMIC CENTRE
Our Islamic Centre located on
Weston Rd. (@ Black Creek)
services the community with the
five daily prayers , salaatuljumu’aah, the two ‘eeds,
lectures, seminars and events.
Open daily from Dhuhr-Ishaa’
year round, the Centre also has
a small library, a non-profit
shop and administrative offices.
The centre offers other services
such as marriage,
counselling and youth programmes. It is a
particularly popular spot
amongst the youth in the area
and the attendees are from
various ethnicities from around
the world including many
converts to Islam. Moving
forward, we hope to establish a
student of knowledge at the
centre to provide regular classes, seminars and telelinks with
the Scholars, we ask Allaah to
facilitate this.
troid.org—one of the largest Islamic websites in the world sees over
60,000 unique visitors each month!!
WEBSITES
INTRODUCING
ISLAAM.AE
Launched in 1430, islaam.ae is a
site for ex-pat Muslims living in
the Gulf region. The site allows
people to connect and find jobs,
buy/sell and receive updates and
news about events and
happenings amongst the Englishspeaking Muslims in the region. A
new and unique project. The site is
hosted by TROID and
administrated by brothers in the
UAE.
In March, islaam.ca was redesigned and revamped. The Islamic presentation website is intended
to present the religion of Islam to the non-Muslim audience in a manner that is understandable to
them. Troid.org continues to grow, dozens of articles and audios were added and over 100
announcements were sent out. Troid.org/store continues to grow in size with thousands of
products available, a particular expansion took place in the area of MP3s (converted from CD or
Cassette) allowing customers to download lectures from around the world. TROIDStore is
currently the largest authentic online store with 1000’s of products to choose from. The 100% nonprofit venture is a backbone of support to TROID, Masjid al-Furqaan and all our activities.
What’s coming up?
Many exciting things, some cool add-ons for troid.org, a new site for Muslim teenagers, a new
troidstore and continued work on other affiliate projects such as fatwaislam.com and salaf.com

PUBLICATIONS
During 1430, we were blessed to release three publications. In April, we printed
‘Fundamentals of the Salafee Methodology - An Islaamic Manual of Reform’
by the illustrious Shaykh, Muhammad Naasirud-Deen al-Albaanee. The expanded 2nd
edition included appendices and essays from Shaykh ’Ubayd al-Jaabiree and Shaykh
Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahumullaah) expounding upon the core topic. A Q&A section is
also included. This ground-breaking work is the best-selling TROID Publication ever.
In December, we released two books - firstly, the expanded second edition of
‘Exemplary Principles Concerning the Beautiful Names and Attribues of A
llaah’ by the Scholar, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah).
The 2nd edition includes commentary and notes from Shaykh Muhammad Amaan alJaamee (rahimahullaah) and Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jaabiree (hafidhahullaah). This book is
from the foremost treatise translated in to the English language on this important topic of
Allaah’s Asmaa (Names) and Sifaat (Attributes). The author sets a firm foundation
concerning the principles of the Islaamic ‘Aqeedah, the understanding of the Salaf
concerning the topic and a solid refutation of those who strayed and interpolated the
creed of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-’Jama’aah in this regard. It is particularly interesting to read
the comments of the two scholars included in the footnotes.
In addition, this month we also released, ‘The Legislative Ruling on Qur’aan
Khwaanee’ by the late scholar, Shaykh Badee’ud-Deen Shaah as-Sindee. The book
discuses the common practise of many Muslims to gather together and read the Qur’aan
intending to credit the deceased with the reward. Shaykh Badee’ud-Deen explains the
creed of ahlus-sunnah wal-jama’aah concerning this practise, the dangers of innovation
and the positions of the early Scholars on this practise.

pamphlets in Toronto, it was
followed by a large cassette tape

When troid.org was first
launched (1998), downloading a

definitely a virtue !

Before moving to our current
location in Jan. 2004 - TROID
was operated from a small
office, there was one desk, two
computers and a few chairs,
brothers used to gather and fill
the room and hallway to listen
to paltalk lectures, then Allaah
blessed us with a masjid masha’Allaah.

In September, our brother Abu ‘Abdullaah
Hasan as-Sumaalee established a class
based on the book ‘A Gift for the Intellects
in Explanation of the Three Fundamental
Principles of Islaam’ explained by Shaykh
‘Ubayd al-Jaabiree. The class is ongoing,
broadcast live from Masjid Muqbil Ibn
Haadee in Philadelphia, PA and connected
live at Masjid al-Furqaan in Toronto, the
class is simulcast on Paltalk and placed on
the internet free for all to benefit. The
class has continued in to 1431 (2010)

the way for an entire


TROIDStore was launched on
the back of TROID
Publications, in just five years,
the store has went from 20 or so
books to more than 500 titles,
herbal products, clothing and
an online store.

We once prayed SalaatulJanaazah in absentia for a
young man who took his
shahaadah at a middle-school
where we give the jumu’ah
khutbah at. Apparently he
became convinced of Islam and
took the shahaadah at the hands
of his classmate. He died a day
or so after - so the
janazaah was made for him at
our masjid.

Our da’wah fliers have been
found in the USA, UK, Africa,
Ireland and the Caribbean.

An article on troid.org
concerning terrorism was
published by the University of
Arizona to be used in one of
their Political Science courses.
They paid a $500 royalty for the

4 CLASSES
PRISON DA’WAH
This year, we were fortunate masha’Allaah - to have one of our
brothers take on the project of ‘prison
da’wah coordinator’. Through a private
email site, prisoners from across the
USA are able to contact us. Through this
connection we are able to help them get
questions answered, offer advice and
support and most importantly
friendship. The programme is growing
and we now receive emails almost daily.
In the coming year, we hope to organise
a drive to establish libraries within
various institutions.
DA’WAH IN THE SCHOOLS
TROID has long be known for working within the school system. We currently have three
representatives who are approved by the TDSB to give sermons at Kipling Collegiate
Institute, Dixon Grove Middle School and Scarlett Heights. Occasionally, we offer
support to York University. The services at Dixon Grove and Kipling have been ongoing
for almost a decade, allowing students the luxury of making jumu’ah without missing any
class time. The sermons center around Tawheed and issues facing teenagers. The
gathering at Kipling is consistently around 100 worshippers.
EVENTS
In January, we had the pleasure of hosting our brother, Abu
Muhammad al-Maghribee - Imaam of Masjid Rahmah, NJ. ‘From
the Gems of the Sunnah - Benefits from the story of Ka’b
Ibn Maalik’ was a nice series, later made available on CD/MP3. In
March, our elder, Abu Tasneem Dawud Adib benefited us with the
lovely series ’The Eleven Women Who Spoke About Their
Husbands.’ In May, we helped coordinate the event ‘State of the
Ummah - The Causes of Weakness and Means for Revival’
in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad & Tobago. The series with Abu
Khadeejah and Abu Hakeem was a great success. The recordings
were later made available to communities in the UK, Caribbean
and N. America.
The ‘How to Maintain as a Muslim
Youth’ event was an important series
addressing the problems facing our
teenagers
In August, we hosted Abu Muhammad alMaghribee again, he conducted the series
‘ad-Da’wah: Its Sources, Importance
and Goals - From the Works of
Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan.’ The main
seminar of the year was in November, Abu
Khadeejah and Abu Iyaad conducted an
important series entitled ‘How to
Maintain as a Muslim Youth’ geared
towards the teenage audience, the topics
centred around the struggle young M
uslims endure to hold on to their Islaam
amidst the sea of sin and transgression all
around them.
In the spring, an important lecture was
held at York University entitled ‘What
was the Religion of Christ Jesus?’ by
Dawud Adib. The emotionally charged
event was quite successful, the audio was
made available later on www.islaam.ca
We also had a lecture with Abu Hafsah
Kaashif Khan, a summer BBQ and Sports
Day and other small events within the
community.
5 OUR APPEAL
All of the aforementioned (and more) was achieved by the grace of Allaah, the allPowerful. We thank you immensely for your support, du’aa and participation. Our
monthly donation base at year end was $1950
Current: $1950
Our Target $5000
Download Pamphlets and
Audio for Da’wah
The $5000 total includes all operational expenses of the building. This would alleviate the
pressure upon TROIDStore and TROID Publications and use those earnings towards
establishing an Imaam and a Student of Knowledge. Just last year alone, that would have
been an additional $36000 in income!! Brothers and Sisters, our rent alone is $2550, we
are in our 7th year of operation now, collectively we need to cover the expenses of our
masjid. A masjid that upholds the banner of Qur’aan and Sunnah, defends the truth and
its people and speaks out against Innovation and that which opposes the Sunnah. Our
problem is not the size of our donations but the number of pledges. Currently we have
around 40 pledges (only), approximately 1/2 are sisters and as little as 10 men in the local
Toronto area have committed to a monthly pledge.

Moving forward, we see that our most important need is the establishment of the fulltime teacher and educator. Naturally, this requires a boost in income. Our pledge has
been ‘take care of the core expenses, we can take care of the rest’ meaning that if the
community can maintain the masjid (which is a communal obligation); the rent, heating,
cooling, general expenses - then we should be able to maintain the other needs (Student
of Knowledge, Imaam etc.) through our commerce-based outlets (TROIDStore, TROID
Publications). Even though all is this is from our communal obligation - al-Hamdulillaah,
we have options that other communities do not - and these non-profit ventures facilitate
this. These were our intentions behind these projects (long-term).
Please assist us towards furthering this blessed da’wah, distribute the attached pledge
form to your family and friends, increase if you are able. Barakallaahu Feekum!
