THOUGHT PROVOKING RECYCLING STATS ALUMINUM – Recycling 1 pound of steel or aluminum saves enough energy for a 60 watt light bulb to run for over 1 day. This equates to enough energy to heat and light 18,000,000 homes in 1 year. PLASTIC – Americans use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour! Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator. GLASS – The energy saved from recycling 1 glass bottle can run a compact fluorescent bulb for 20 hours. Recycling also results in 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution than making a new bottle from raw materials. PAPER – Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents an energy savings of 64%, water savings of 58%, and 60 lbs less air pollution. *These facts and more can be viewed at www.recycling-revolution.com Please come visit us at these upcoming events… On Thursday, May 27 - Sunday, June 6, 2010 AJB will sponsor the 114th Devon Horse Show and County Fair by providing trash and recycling services.
