Spelthorne waste collection What can go in your bins Recycling bin Your light green bin is for recycling. After collecting your recycling it is taken to a local sorting facility and then sent to be made into new products. Glass Including: • bottles and jars, any colour Plastic containers • drinks, shampoo and cleaning bottles any colour • yoghurt pots • margarine and ice-cream tubs • food trays • bottle tops Paper and cardboard Including: • junk mail • magazines • shredded paper • envelopes • cardboard • newspaper Cans and tins Including: • food and drink cans and tins (rinsed and as clean as possible) No carrier bags, No plastic bags, No bin liners Food waste bin All food waste should be bagged in compostable liners or wrapped in newspaper. Including: • mouldy and out of date food • meal leftovers • fruit and vegetable peelings • meat and fish • bones, fat and gristle • rice, pasta, beans and cereal • cheese, yoghurt and egg shells • tea bags and coffee grounds • bread, cakes and pastries û no oils or liquids Visit www.lovefoodsurrey.com for advice on reducing food waste.
