Registration Begins: April 9th Who Can Register Limited to children residing in Independence Children who have completed Grades K through 7 Registration filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. All information on the Registration Form & Waiver is important and must be completed before your child will be registered MAKING NEW FRIENDS FUN FIELD TRIPS Discipline & Guidance Policy: Our goal is for each child to develop increasing self-control and the ability to work and play with others. To best understand your child and meet his/her needs, parents are asked to communicate to the staff any changes or incidents which may affect the child’s behavior (i.e. divorce or separation, death of a family member, friend or pet, family or friend moving). All information is kept in the strictest confidence. OUTDOOR FUN ALL children are expected to: Comply with the Camp Program rules Cooperate with staff and other children Respect self, others and property Communicate their needs. A place where kids can be kids and have a ton of summer fun with friends! SUMMER CAMP IS... A structured day supervised by a professional, trained team! If camper’s behavior is contrary to these expectations or disruptive to others: Junior/Senior Camp Staff will follow these steps: Discuss with child the inappropriate behavior as well as the expected behavior. The child will then be given the opportunity to correct the behavior. If it is necessary, a 5-10 min. time out will be used. A nurturing and mentoring environment with young adults who love to spend time with kids! Tween/Teen Camp Staff will follow these steps: Camper will be told to stop the inappropriate behavior, and the consequences of not doing so. 1st WARNING Discuss with the camper the inappropriate behavior as well as the expected behavior. 2nd WARNING Camper will write a letter to parent. Letter will include what the camper did wrong, what he/she should have done instead, and promise of improvement in the future. Camp Schedule Monday through Friday from June 8th — August 5th Camp begins at 7:00 AM and students must arrive no later than 9 AM Camp ends at 6 PM and students must be picked up no later than 6 PM No Camp Monday, June 6th, Tuesday, June 7th or Monday, July 4th If your child is sick or unable to attend, please call our Fieldhouse front desk at 216-524-0088 Camp Fees: 3 Day Camp: Tues-Wed-Thurs — $100 / Week 5 Day Camp: Monday-Friday — $125 / Week How to Register Registration BEGINS: Saturday, April 9th at 8 AM at the Civic Center Community Services Department ONLY! After April 9th: Registration can also be taken care of at the Fieldhouse Full Payment must be made at time of registration if camper is attending less than 4 weeks NEW Payment Plan* ONLY available for children registered for Summer Camp 4—9 weeks ~ First Installment Due at time of registration $300 (part-time camper) or $375 (full-time camper) per child ~ Next Monthly Installment Due May 30th: $300 (part-time camper) or $375 (full-time camper) per child ~ Final Installment Due June 30th: Remaining balance *If payment plan is chosen, payments must be made by due dates or we reserve the right to cancel registration for remaining weeks Must have a completed Summer Camp Registration Form and Registration & Waiver Form for CS Youth Programs Refund/Cancellation Policy In order to receive a refund or credit, cancellations must be made by the Monday prior to a cancelled week. Use the Change in Schedule Form to make cancellations. If inappropriate behavior persists, the Youth Program Coordinator will request a conference with the parent. Swimsuits are worn only at the pool. Swimsuit should be age Shirts that contain a message, appropriate and properly fitting for physical development. Mesh, spandex, spaghetti straps and tight fitting tops or shorts are not appropriate. All students should wear gym shoes every day. For health and safety reasons, shoes must be tied and worn at all times. Appropriate footwear must be worn during fieldtrips. which the staff would consider inappropriate, indecent, or objectionable are prohibited in camp. A Camper may be asked to change out of any article that is deemed by staff to Fieldhouse each morning. All Campers should arrive prior to 9 AM each day. Money: We suggest that you limit the amount of money your child brings to camp. We will not be responsible for lost or misspent money! Articles from Home: Campers are permitted to use electronic devices from 7-8 AM and 5-6 PM. Please label all items brought to camp. Things to Remember at the Pool… Passing the “2 Lap Swim Test” allows the Camper to swim Water Safety is very important! Every week we visit the swimming pool! Campers should bring a Swimsuit, Towel and Sunscreen anywhere in the Large Pool or use the Diving Boards. Campers not ready to take the “2 Lap Swim Test” will be restricted to the Activity Pool or the shallow end of the Large Pool. At the parent's request, the Camper can be tested throughout the summer as the Camper’s swimming skills and endurance increases. During the first 2 weeks of Camp, all Campers will participate in a brief pool safety class conducted by the lifeguards. Senior Camper who has not passed the Swim Test in previous years and would like to try to pass. Teen/Tween Campers (5th-8th Grade) Camp Location: Independence High School Cafeteria Drop Off / Pick Up: Unless otherwise notified, ALL Campers should be dropped Transportation: Transportation will be provided to Math & Reading Camp and Swim Team as long as it does not interfere with scheduled fieldtrips. If your child is registered for these Programs, please fill out and return the Transport Form prior to the start of the program. Lunches/Snacks: Campers should bring a lunch and drink in a disposable bag every day unless otherwise notified. Please do not send microwaveable meals. Morning and afternoon snacks will be served daily. Illness: It is suggested that you limit the amount of money they bring each day. We will not be responsible for lost or misspent money! If your Camper becomes ill during the day, we will contact you immediately. Campers should be picked up within one hour of notification. For everyone's well being please DO NOT send sick children to Camp. Things to Remember… Articles from Home: off and picked up at the Independence High School Cafeteria. Campers should be dropped off 1/2 hour before departure time on field trip days. See weekly schedule poster for departure times. Money: Children at this age are expected to be responsible for their own money. Articles from Home: Tweens and Teens will be permitted to use electronic devices from 7-8 AM and 5-6 PM and on long bus trips only. All electronic devices should be clearly marked with the Camper’s name. We will not be responsible for lost or damaged items. If your camper needs to make or receive an emergency call they may use the Camp Leader’s phones provided by the City. Sun Block: Tween and Teen campers are expected to be responsible for their own sun block. Please inform your child about the importance of re-applying sun block throughout the 2016 Bring swimsuit, sunscreen and towel every day to be taken home daily. Please make sure your camper is dressed appropriately for the weather, activity and according to dress code. For safety purposes, all campers are required to wear gym shoes every day. Camp Location: Independence Fieldhouse Drop Off/Pick Up: All Campers should be escorted to their designated room in the every day to Camp! Camp staff will remind campers to apply sun block, but it is the campers responsibility to apply their own or ask for help. All dress and grooming should be: Activity Appropriate Conducive to the health and safety of the campers In no way shall dress and grooming contribute or cause disruptive conditions or carry messages that would be offensive to the majority of the citizens in the community. SUMMER CAMP Please be sure your camper has all personal belongings with them when you leave each day. All items brought to camp should be labeled. Camp T-shirt: All Campers will wear Camp T-shirt on fieldtrips for easy recognition. They will be washed and stored at the Fieldhouse.
