Penitential Act
“Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our
sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the
sacred mysteries.”
(One of the following forms are used:)
I confess to almighty God and to you, my
brothers and sisters, that I have greatly
sinned, in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have
failed to do, (striking breast) through my
fault, through my fault, through my most
grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed
Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and
Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
“May God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us to everlasting life.”
Amen.
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
“Christ, have mercy,” Christ, have mercy.
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
Or:
“Have mercy on us, O Lord.”
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, O Lord, your mercy.”
And grant us your salvation.
“May God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us to everlasting life.”
Amen.
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
“Christ, have mercy,” Christ, have mercy.
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
Greeting
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit.”
Amen.
“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.”
(or another form of the greeting may be used)
And with your Spirit.
Or:
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
“Christ, have mercy,” Christ, have mercy.
“Lord, have mercy,” Lord, have mercy.
“May God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us to everlasting life.”
Amen.
Gloria
The Liturgy of the Word
Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace
to people of goodwill.
1st Reading - Ezekiel 2:2-5
We praise you, we bless you, we adore
you, we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the
Father,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the
Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father,
Amen.
A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel
As the LORD spoke to me, the spirit entered into me
and set me on my feet, and I heard the one who was
speaking say to me: Son of man, I am sending you to the
Israelites, rebels who have rebelled against me; they and
their ancestors have revolted against me to this very day.
Hard of face and obstinate of heart are they to whom I
am sending you. But you shall say to them: Thus says
the Lord GOD! And whether they heed or resist—for they
are a rebellious house—they shall know that a prophet
has been among them.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm - Psalm 123:1-2, 2, 3-4

To you I lift up my eyes
who are enthroned in heaven —
As the eyes of servants
are on the hands of their masters. R.
Collect
“Let us pray.”
“O God, who in the abasement of your
Son have raised up a fallen world, fill
your faithful with holy joy, for on those
you have rescued from slavery to sin
you bestow eternal gladness. Through
our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who
lives and reigns with you in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever.”
Amen.
As the eyes of a maid
are on the hands of her mistress,
So are our eyes on the LORD, our God,
till he have pity on us. R.
Have pity on us, O LORD, have pity on us,
for we are more than sated with contempt;
our souls are more than sated
with the mockery of the arrogant,
with the contempt of the proud. R.
Second Reading - 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
A reading from the second Letter of St. Paul to the
Corinthians
Brothers and sisters:
That I, Paul, might not become too elated, because of the
abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was
given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me
from being too elated. Three times I begged the Lord
about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, “My
grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in
weakness.” I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with
me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults,
hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of
Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Gospel - Mark 5:21-43
The Lord be with you. And with your Spirit.
The Profession of Faith
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of
heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I
believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son
of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from
God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us men and for
our salvation he came down from heaven (bow) and by the
Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became
man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the
third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He
ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of
the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the
living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I
believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and Son, who with the Father
and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken
through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and
apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection
of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
(Or the Apostle’s Creed may be used.)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.
Glory to you, O Lord.
Apostle’s Creed
Jesus departed from there and came to his native place,
accompanied by his disciples. When the sabbath came
he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who
heard him were astonished. They said, “Where did this
man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given
him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands! Is
he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of
James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not
his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in
his own house.” So he was not able to perform any
mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people
by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their
lack of faith.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord, (bow) who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended
into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he
ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father almighty; from there he will come to
judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life
everlasting. Amen.
The Liturgy of the Eucharist
Presentation & Preparation of the Gifts
“Pray brothers and sisters
(brethren), that my sacrifice and
yours may be acceptable to
God, the almighty Father.”
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the
praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of
all his holy Church.
Prayer over the Offerings
“May this oblation dedicated to
your name purify us, O Lord,
and day by day bring our
conduct closer to
the life of heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.”
Amen.

SANCTUS
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us
our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against
us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil.
“Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously
grant us peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy
we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as
we wait upon the blessed hope and the coming of our
Savior, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now
and for ever.

Amen.

Is the Holy Spirit calling you?
Do you want to help keep a

consider sharing your faith with our preschool children. Students

this is a fun way to share your faith with the young members of
our parish family. Yes, everyone knows enough about our faith
to share with the children.
It’s a commitment that’s spiritually fulfilling. If you are hesitant
to commit for the entire 8 months, we can have a rotating schedule if enough volunteers contact me. Please feel free to contact
me with any questions you may have, I am flexible and can work
around your availability. Please e-mail or call me with your
name and phone number as soon as possible, and I will contact
you with details. I would like to have my volunteers lined up by
the end of July if possible.
Thank you and have a safe and happy summer break.

the new Cleveland Convention Center. Event cochairs Donna and Tim Panzica are leading a group of
dedicated individuals committed to ensuring the legacy of our Catholic schools and the preservation of
our diocesan Cathedral.
The theme of the event, “Take Your
Seat,” encompasses two goals: providing tuition assistance for families with children in Catholic schools
in the Diocese of Cleveland and renovating the pews
and wood paneling in the Cathedral of St. John the
Evangelist in downtown Cleveland.
The evening will include a special presentation of a
Lifetime Achievement Award to Sam Miller, in recognition of his leadership and generosity to countless
organizations and individuals throughout Northeast
Ohio, including his tremendous support of Catholic
schools in the Diocese of Cleveland.

Vacation Bible School 2015 A Huge Success!
St. Michael Vacation Bible School was held Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26. This year we had 62 students in
kindergarten through grade 6 participate in our program titled “Parade Around the Our Father. “ Our campers learned
the meaning of the Our Father; the perfect prayer given to us by Jesus, the perfect teacher! There were daily skits by our
teen volunteers along with songs, crafts, activities and snacks. All of this was focused on our Catholic faith.
We could not have done this without an awesome group of teen and adult volunteers. Our adult volunteers were Kristen
Hojdar being extremely creative in the craft room (did you know you could make a decade of the rosary using pool noodles!) and Patty Rieger and Eileen Scott making delicious and fun snacks.
This year we had 35 teen volunteers sharing their faith with our campers. Most of these teens are “graduates” of our
VBS program and look forward to becoming a helper. This year, most of our teens started their day at daily mass. We
were so proud of them for putting God first so early in the morning!
We would like to thank them for their time and talent.

PS- This is our 8th year running the bible school program. We have loved every minute of it and been blessed by sharing
our faith through this program. Due to our work schedules, we need to find someone to take over the program. It would
really work if we could find a group of adults that would be willing to share some of the responsibilities. Helen and
Michele are willing to help in a small capacity but just can’t give as much time. If you are interested, please contact Carrie Sears at carriesears@wowway.com.
