Gabriel Luis Perez:
An Artist’s Statement
“My work is psychogeographical in that it documents my
personal interactions with a specific plane, its surroundings,
and sometimes its participants. I document images from
daily routine walks or drives that are aesthetically engaging
or cause me to react in the form of performing a temporary
installation at the site. The drawings then become the only
form of documentation of the site or event. I work in
colored pencil, often on found
or reclaimed rag paper. While the
work suggests elements of critical
social theory, it is hardly didactic
but rather dialogical, with emphasis
placed on visual entertainment and
cacophonous propaganda.”
►Please come to the
advisement center to

“Don’t worry about what others think. Be yourself and
follow your heart.”
Opportunities are available for those with a four-year
degree OR a combination of job experience and a twoyear degree OR substantial experience, in lieu of a
degree, in specialized areas. (Some specialized areas are:
skilled trades, farm/agribusiness, vegetable
gardening/nursery/forestry or fish cultivation/production,
business management, computer technology, nursing
(RN/LPN/LVN), non-profit management/organizational
development, and work with at-risk youth.)
Peace Corps benefits include medical, dental and
housing, as well as a monthly stipend, transportation to
and from your host country, graduate study benefits, 24
vacation days a year, and a $7,425 readjustment

noncompetitive eligibility for employment in the federal
government.
The Peace Corps is a 27-month commitment, which
includes 12 weeks of language training in the host
country. We encourage you to apply a year before you
want to depart.
“If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.”
“Never give up on your passion. If you need to you can defer it,
but NEVER give up on it.”
