2012-13 was a good year for the Sussex Russian Centre Kalinka
SRC Kalinka 2012-13 ANNUAL REPORT 2012-13 was a good year for the Sussex Russian Centre Kalinka (SRC Kalinka). We have helped our colleagues to open Russki Dom - a community group in Crawley. We have mutually held several events throughout the year. Additionally, the fundraising fair, Christmas party, two soft play events, a puppet show, summer event were held in Brighton. Although, the numbers of children attending weekly Saturday language classes have dropped, but this can be put down to the fact that many families now attend activities in Crawley. Additionally, SRC Kalinka took part in the cross sector Steering Group for the development of Communities and Third Sector Policy and Prospectus which was set up by Brighton and Hove City Council officers. I have been the Chair of SRC Kalinka for 5 years and would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped to establish, run and grow our organisation throughout those years. Firstly, my special thanks goes to Yelena Gray, our wonderful Treasurer and SRC Kalinka’s co-founder. Secondly, to Kate Childs, who has helped tremendously in the year 2012-13. Moreover, my sincere gratitude is to all the funders who have supported SRC Kalinka over the last five years. Especially, my special thanks go to Brighton and Hove City Council for their ongoing financial support. On behalf of the outgoing Committee, I would like to wish the newly elected committee that their energy and ideas will help SRC Kalinka to thrive. They have already organized two wonderful events in November 2013 and January 2014. In 2012-13 SRC Kalinka finished the financial year in a sound position, with an operating surplus of £5466.51. This covered the earnings from 2011-12 as well as contributing to retained earnings.
