HUNTING, BOOTS
One of central Arizona's most successful land sales near·
the turn of the century, took place when the real estate
busjness was considered to be slow. It was the sale· of
Walter Tolleson's spread ten miles west of Phoenix. Convinced the site was ideal for a town, Tolleson captured
the interest of prospective buyers with full page advertisements In the Phoenix newspaper. He chartered a tfain
to bring prospects to the site, where they were welcomed
royally by a brass band, treated to a free lunch and
presented with complimentary $5 gold pieces. On the
first day of the sale eighty lots were sold and the town
of Tolleson, Arizona, was born.

The growth of the Tolleson townsite into a modern, vital
agricultural trade center is a reflection of the amazing
development of all Arizona - · a development made
possible by individuals and industries demonstrating faith
in 'the state by investing in its future. One of these indus- '
fries which has dearly evidenced such faith is the brewing
industry, with a .state-wide investment of $63 million
in real property, inventories and equipment.
