intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
The Samuel Field Y upholds its commitment to common core standards put in place by the New York
Department of Education, and implemented by our staff
of highly professional teachers. Classes prepare our
students for kindergarten by honing their skills in reading, writing, math, and science exploration.

an expanding world while learning independence. This
2-hour program introduces nursery school activities such
as art, music, dramatic play, blocks, cooking, and more.
Parent or caregiver remains in the class and separates
gradually as the child is ready. Not Quite Nursery includes 2
and 3 day options.
Threes - Understanding concepts like hibernation, the
development of a chrysalis from a caterpillar, how tall is a
giant penguin, and how do we measure.
Fours - Demonstrate ability to compare literature and
understand stories, learn how to write and read their
names, understand professions, and increase proficiency
in computer skills.
Nursery options include 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day programs,

Parent-Child Exploration
Explore and share educational activities and experiences
with your child in our Parent-Child Explorations classes,

Classes are structured for children birth-6 months, 6-12
months, 12-18 months and 18-24 months. Parents
can engage with their children and other parents and
children, in creative activities that include music, singing,
exercise, story time, weekly themes and socializing. The
Bay Terrace Center is a great place for both parents and
children to make friends and learn and grow together!
For children two to five years old, Sam’s Camp and
Swim Club provides a nurturing educational and fun
summertime environment. Our program consists of
weekly themes, highlighted by special events such as
performances by professional entertainers and a special
lunch each month for those who attend full day programs.
Outdoor and indoor play activities are designed to
increase motor skills and to encourage socialization
opportunities. Full day and extended day campers go to
the local park and playground once a week for sports. All
campers swim at the Tanenbaum Family Pool across the
street daily, and are supervised by certified lifeguards.
At the Samuel Field Y we understand the special needs of
our nursery age children and have designed a choice of
program schedules, allowing you to choose the schedule
best suited for your child. Parents can choose either two,
three, or five full days from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, extended
days from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, or mornings from 9:00
am to noon. Full day, extended day and morning campers
all swim daily. To get your children safely to camp, doorto-door transportation is provided via our own mini-vans
for an additional charge.
Little Meadows Inclusion Program at SFY
Through our collaboration with Little Meadows Early
Childhood Center, the Samuel Field Y is able to provide
an inclusive Early Childhood program with integrated
classrooms. Staff consists of dually certified Early
Childhood/Special Education teachers and assistant
teachers who are certified by the New York State
Department of Education, who have extensive experience
in the field of early childhood. These classrooms pair
children from the community with other children who
receive services such as: special education, speech
therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and/or
counseling. The classes are also provided with a consulting
psychologist and a social worker who visit regularly, and
who at request, provide any support a family may need to
assist all children in reaching their optimal potential.
If you have concerns regarding your childs’ development,
Little Meadows offers comprehensive evaluation services
by highly qualified and experienced professionals in early
childhood development. Evaluations may also be performed
by bilingual Spanish professionals. Evaluations are provided
at no direct cost to parents. Evaluations are paid for by the
State of New York and New York City.
