From the President-
Ladies,
Our June Luncheon is the
last luncheon for the 2014-2015
year. Wow, I can not believe it
is coming to an end.
The Roster of Officers for
2015-2016, as submitted by the
Nominating Committee, Jackie
St Cyr, Flo Locke and Zona Taylor, were introduced at the May
luncheon.
They are:
~President: Pam Stewart
~Vice President: Pat Reagan
~Secretary: Kathryn Schleper
~Treasurer: Robin Garnett
~Parlimentarian: Karla Seidule
Elections will be held at the
June luncheon. Nominations will
be accepted from the floor,
with prior permission from any
nominee to place her name on
the ballot. Following the lunch-
eon, our new president will be
busy getting her board in place.
If called upon to serve on any
of the committees, please consider serving, it is a wonderful
way to meet other members and
help the organization run
smoothly.
I would like to extend my
personal thank you to the Executive Board, Committee
Chairs and their committee
members for a job well done. I
deeply appreciate each of you
for stepping forward to take on
your duties.
The 2014-2015 Directories
will be available for the last
time at the June meeting. If
you have not collected yours,
please contact Zona Taylor or
make arrangements with a
friend to pick yours up at the
June meeting. They will NOT be
mailed.
It has been
an excellent
adventure
serving as
President.
I think I have
learned a lot from
the experience and I hope I
managed to get the job done
“relatively” well. It has truly
been an honor trying, and I
thank you all for being so supportive. Have a fun and safe
4th of July and I hope to see
you at lunch in August. Karla

“Foods of the Caribbean” was
the theme at Gae Glaser’s home on
Thursday, April 24th. Wonderful
food! The May luncheon will be held
at the home of Olive Cannistra on
May 22.
“Think Spring” is her
choice for recipes. Should be lots
of good food.
~~~Mary Wilson
Sorry to have missed the May meeting but Nana duties
were called. A big thank you to our May hostess Norma Reed. A
few of the books on the “good or better” list include: Picoult’s
“Leaving Time”, Stuart Woods “Insatiable Appetites”, and
Grisham’s “Gray Mountain”. Also thank you to Jean Clark for
hosting the May 20th meeting. We all are looking forward to
the “Book Clubs Around the Lake” annual luncheon at April
Sound on May 28th.
Social Bites
Remember
the
chant
M.I.C.K.E.Y. M-O-U-S-E?
The ladies of Social Bites didn’t
quite chant it, but fully enjoyed the
Disney memorabilia on display at the
latest recipe luncheon held at
Joanne Berridge’s home. The ladies
dined on “Lightening McQueen’s Balsamic Motor Oil Chicken”, Chef
Oscar’s potatoes and onions, and
Twinkie tiramisu. It’s unbelievable
that, after fifteen years, each
luncheon menu and theme seems
better than the last.
We had a wonderful meeting at Lin Scheib’s home in April.
“Leaving Time” by Jodi Picoult was enjoyed by most. We had a
good discussion lead by Norma Reed. Some of the books we
might look at next are: “Dead Wake” by Erik Larson, “The Girl
on the Train “ by Paula Hawkins, and “The Nightingale” by Kristin
Hannah.
We agreed that we might find some interesting books to
read as presented at the May 28th combined luncheon. The
luncheon is organized by Waterford Estates at April Sound Waterside Room starting at 11:30.
Our June 25 meeting will be at Olive Cannistra’s home. We have
changed our selection to Lethal Beauty by Lis Wiehl, lead by Jan
Null.
All this rain did not stop Matinee Mamas getting together
on Monday, May 11! We had lunch at Cracker Barrel then went
to Grand 14 for an enjoyable afternoon at the movies! Two of
the ladies saw "Hot Pursuit" with Reese Witherspoon and Sofia
Vergara. This is another movie that you want to ignore the critics because I was told it is an extremely funny movie; very entertaining! The rest of our group saw "The Age of Adaline" with
Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn; everyone agreed this was a
very good movie. We always meet on the second Monday of the
month. If you want to join us on June 8, please call 602-3161377 for more information.
