Lets hope the rest of this year is better than the first part of it has been. We had guests at our July meeting. Ray and Melinda Faber, our District Directors and Lonny Hunter, the ADD for our area. Ray and Melinda gave us the poop scoop on the Region D Rally in Coldwater, MI, July 28-30th and Lonny talked about the Central Indiana Ride In, which replaces the Fall Fest of past years. It will be on Sat., Aug. 6th. The event is scheduled to be held at Beulah Park, located along with the Madison Co. 4-H Fairgrounds in Alexandria, IN, just 8-10 miles north of Anderson on SR 9. Activities to start at 10:00AM with things to do until 5:00PM. A meal will be served for $5/person which will consist of pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, potato salad and drinks. The meal ticket will put you in the drawing for prizes that will be drawn throughout the day. I hope we can get a group together to go and enjoy some time with other chapters and fellow gold wingers. See flyer on page 7 of this newsletter for more information. Eleven of us went to Danville, IN to the Mayberry Café on Sat., July 16. It was a beautiful day and we had a really good time. On the way home, we stopped at Wilson’s Farm Market on 31 and some of us had ice cream and then did some shopping. They have a lot of fresh produce plus a lot of Amish made food. I have to say that I am so sad that I cannot get more of our chapter members to go to these kinds of things and enjoy being with chapter members. Just keep this in mind when we are no longer a chapter and you won’t have to wonder why. But then I guess if you don’t do anything with the chapter, you won’t care anyway if it is no longer in existence. Thanks to those of you who went and showed some support for our chapter. We are going to have our picnic at Mississinewa Reservoir a month earlier this year. Some thought that we could count more on the weather in August than in September when we usually have it. We decided on Sat., August 20th. We will leave Hardee’s location at 11:00 AM. Gale and I will go up there early again this year and try to be sure we get the shelter house by the dam. I will pass around a sheet at the August meeting for everyone to sign if they are coming and what they will bring. Chapter will again furnish table service, drinks, meat, buns and condiments. As usual, we will have hamburgers and hot dogs. Be sure to put it on your calendar and let’s have a good turnout this year. Lawn chairs would be good if you don’t want to sit on those hard picnic tables the whole time. I will answer any questions at the meeting. If anyone has any ideas on something we can do in September for our chapter function, please let me know and we will discuss it in our meeting. Planning something for each month is a way to try to keep this chapter going and keeping members doing something together. I will try to do this for the rest of this year and then see what happens. It is the same couples who participate in chapter things and occasionally a few more on our Wednesday night rides. That is not enough to really keep this chapter going. I hate to think that way because of the few who do look forward to our chapter things, but it really bothers me that no more of you care about this chapter enough to attend what few things I do try to do, not even our Wednesday night rides. It is up to all of you to decide the fate of this chapter. Surely you can come to a meeting and help me to decide if we can keep this chapter going for another year or not. I don’t think that is asking too much of you chapter members. REMEMBER, IT IS UP TO ALL OF YOU!!! Gwen Aug. Aug. Aug. Aug. Good food and fellowship with our chapter members. OIL Motorcycle or auto oil, what to use. Some use auto oil because of price or they have good luck in their car or other reasons. There has been articles in Wing World comparing these different oils. Some reasons for using motorcycle oil are: Operational speed, compression ratios, horsepower, which exposes oil to higher temperatures and stress, variable engine cooling, multiple lubrication functionality and inactivity because motorcycles are typically used less frequently than automobiles. So, when changing your motorcycle oil and filter, stay with motorcycle oil. Use a good filter for your bike and make sure it is installed properly so there are no leaks when the bike warms up.
