Summer Dinner Meeting—Galesville Memorial Hall
I have been looking forward to this spring, a time
to get out and re-meet the
neighbors after a long
winter sleep, well, maybe
not sleep. It certainly was
cold and most of US
stayed inside to stay
warm. The birds are back
another welcomed sign of
spring. The museum
underwent a cleaning
while closed, inventory
performed and we are
ready for you to visit. If
you would like to sign up
to be a docent, please call
me at 410-867-2648. We
can always use the extra
help.
The next quarterly dinner
will be held on June 12 at
the Galesville Memorial Hall
starting at 6:30 pm. Guest
speaker Lauren Schiszik will
present “Dissidents, Pacifists and Vagabonds: the
Quakers of West River.”
She’ll be speaking about the
complex history of Quakers
in the West River Area -their religious and social

on a dinner at the hall, certificates of appreciation were presented to all those who assist
with building the wooden walkway. Many of

4th of July Events
NO FIREWORKS
This summer will be different than the last
12 years – a little anyway. There will NOT
be a fireworks celebration on the 4th of July,
sponsored by GHS in Galesville.
Parade – 2 PM
A fantastic parade will start at 2 PM on the
4th and follow the same route as previous
years. The parade will be directed by the
very capable Sue Hines - and we know she
can put on a parade. If you would like to
participate in the parade, or have any questions, please call Sue at 410-867-3541.
Picnic
An old fashioned community picnic is planned to
start immediately after
the parade. Ellen Berson,
Debbie Bell and committee are hard at work planning a picnic (you bring your picnic), have
fun at the games both for children and adults
at the soccer field from 3 – 5 PM. That will

Special Thanks go to
Jack and Barbara Smith
who have tirelessly
logged countless hours
working in the museum
yard and gardens. It is
without a doubt an unending job, but they
have tackled it with enthusiasm, vim and vigor.
Volunteer are needed to do watering,
weeding, etc., to help keep the grounds
healthy and attractive. Regina Bacon
and Gary Thurber, Grounds Chairmen,
have been busy at the museum grounds
as well, if you will lend your hand to this
ongoing project, please call Regina 410867-7404 to put your name on the list.
Our goal is to have a well-defined schedule so that the grounds will benefit from
great stewardship care.

Galesville Heritage Society, Inc.
“promote an understanding of and appreciation for the history of the
village of Galesville and its immediate environs, within its community
and the general public. Its historical resources, educational outreach
efforts, and the Galesville Heritage Museum serve as catalysts to collect,
