Director’s Statement
I have learned that when you create opportunities for others, you in
the end are given the greatest opportunity - that is to grow with
those people you share adventures with. I have been very fortunate
to have the support to create Dene A Journey and I hope these
stories will inspire others to live life now, before the moment passes.
- Amos Scott
TAGLINE ONE
TAGLINE TWo
Dene A Journey is a television documentary
series of indigenous guts, grit and smoky
beauty.
Dene A Journey is an adventure documentary
series for when the desire to feed your soul
holds more sway than the ‘what if’. Transform
your reality now.
Short SYNOPSIS
Dene A Journey is the story of urban indigenous individuals on a trek to fulfill the universal desire to be more connected with one’s
culture, but the journey becomes more a realization of one’s self.
LONG SYNOPSIS
Dene A Journey is a documentary series that tells the story of 6 people on individual journeys discovering their culture and redefining their self. On this trek through life we find humour, frustration and joy, and the challenge to understand one’s identity.
Each character starts to embody their own reality. They are wonderful modern indigenous humans, and there is no one answer.
From an urban dweller to the bush and then back to the city, Dene A Journey is a realization of one self.

ABOUT THE CREATORS
AMOS SCOTT
Director, Producer, Writer
Born in Yellowknife, Amos grew up around cameras, learning from his dad who worked
as a cameraman during Amos’ younger years. After attending Journalism School, Amos
found further experience in media as a VJ at APTN National News and radio
broadcaster at both CBC North and CKLB in Yellowknife.
Amos is a founding member of Dene Nahjo, a collective of young northerners working
towards celebrating and teaching northern cultures and fostering emerging leaders in
the north. He is also president of the NWT Professional Media Association and a
Director with the Aboriginal Association of Media Producers.
Lesley Johnson
Associate Producer
Lesley spent the last ten years in Yellowknife and is now back in Toronto working on
her Masters in Film Production at York University. Her previous educational background includes environmental, wildlife and political studies. She became a filmmaker
during her time in the
North, training in Yellowknife, Amsterdam, and the West coast of Canada. Lesley’s past
experience includes working on the film adaptation of author Richard Van Camp’s
book of the same name ‘The Lesser Blessed’ and is currently working on an interactive
web documentary about the Giant Mine remediation, titled ‘Shadow of a Giant’ with
director Clark Fergusen and SOS New Media.
Lesley is an active member of the NWT Professional Media Association, Western Arctic
Moving Pictures, Women in Film and Television, Cinema Politico, the Documentary
Organization of Canada, and was the Director of the Yellowknife Film Festival for
several years.
Molly Milligan
Associate Producer
Molly opted to forego college after graduating from high school in her hometown of
Yellowknife and instead, booked it to the mountains (Whistler, BC) where she spent 10
plus years living the dream as a competitive and professional snowboarder.
Film, photography and digital media are an integral part of the snowboard industry.
Molly’s exposure and experience in these different facets during her snowboard
career is what connects her to her role with the Dene A Journey team.
