www.marchebonsecours.qc.ca
The Marché Bonsecours was inaugurated in 1847. A symbol of Montréal’s heyday, this imposing building was the city’s main agricultural marketplace for over a century. It
also housed a concert hall and even served as a city hall. Its symmetrical composition and Greek Revival portico (the cast-iron columns were brought from England), tinplated dome and simple and varied details make it a perfect illustration of the neo-classical style in favour at the time. Recent renovations have turned it once again into
a bustling marketplace that also features sidewalk cafés, shops and exhibitions.

home to a multitude of facilities and recreational opportunities that host a variety of festivals and events all year long.
Île Sainte-Hélène is home to the ever-popular La Ronde amusement park and two museums: the Biosphere’s Environment Museum and the Stewart Museum. A network
of multi-disciplinary paths wind their way through this lush natural park, accentuated by some dozen public artworks along the way. The island welcomes large outdoor
concerts in the summer as well as major events in the winter, including the Fête des neiges.
Meanwhile, Île Notre-Dame is a favourite destination for cycling or in-line skating enthusiasts thanks to its 25-km network of paved trails. It›s also the meeting place for
car racing fans who come in droves to attend the F1 Grand Prix du Canada on the Gilles-Villeneuve track. The superb Floralies gardens in all their splendour hold a special

A fine example of neo-Gothic architecture, Christ Church Cathedral was built between 1857 and 1859. It now stands over an underground shopping centre, while a postmodern tower designed to suggest the features of a cathedral stands behind it. The Square between the Cathedral and the office tower is dedicated to Raoul Wallenberg,
Hero of Humanity, who saved thousands of Jews from concentration camps during World War II.

as well as a special accommodation tax. This taxt is equal to 3.5% per room-night if the visitor pays the
hotel establishment directly (no market intermediary). However, it is $3.50 per room-night if the room is
paid for through a market intermediary.
Taxes
This document cannot provide the full range of rates for each establishment since prices vary according to
