Linda Ronstadt Aida Cuevas Lila Downs
Linda Ronstadt Aida Cuevas Lila Downs Tres Reinas A Tribute to “Las Inmortales de La Musica Mexicana” featuring Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano Linda Ronstadt is the most honored recording artist of her generation, with worldwide album sales of over 50 million, at least 31 gold and platinum records, and 11 Grammy Awards. Linda was the first American popular artist to explore her Hispanic roots with the multi-platinum albums, Canciones de mi Padre and Mas Canciones. Their success, and the sold-out tours that followed, established Linda as one of Latin music’s biggest stars. For this new presentation, each of these four artists will perform individually, spotlighting the beloved and familiar songs that made them famous, and as an extra added attraction, Linda, Aida, and Lila will join together on stage to perform their heartfelt tribute to the three founding divas of Mariachi music: Lola Beltran, Amalia Mendoza, and Lucha Reyes. This tribute, originally performed at the San Jose Mariachi Festival last September, brought six thousand fans to their feet. Linda is back for 2009 with a brand-new show, accompanied by the Grammy-winning Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano and two brilliant guest stars, Mexico’s First Lady of Mariachi, Aida Cuevas, and the sensational new World Music artist, Lila Downs. Mariachi Los Camperos has been in the forefront of traditional Mexican music for over forty years. Lead by Natividad Cano, they have recorded nine superb albums, including two Grammy winners. They appeared on both of Linda Ronstadt’s Mexican albums, and continue to tour with her and on their own, thrilling audiences all over the world. Aida Cuevas began her career on Mexican radio at the age of twelve and became an instant sensation, graduating to film, television and concert work. She has recorded over two dozen albums, all chart-toppers, and has been rightfully referred to as “The Queen of Ranchera Music.” Blue Note artist Lila Downs is blazing her own daringly original path through the field of World Music. Defying all categories, she is equally adept at singing ranchera, jazz, pop, and rock. Her albums, concerts and video projects have earned her critical and popular acclaim the world over.
