Spring 2016 - Fayette Friends of Animals
Fayette Friends of Animals Spring/summer 2016 Featured Gem Featured Gem Meet Connor--1 of our senior dogs: Woof!! My name is Connor. As you can see from my photo I am a black lab mix. I was found as a stray in Connellsville and the staff thinks I might be 6-7 years old. There is so much about me that I want to tell you. First, I love to play with a tennis ball, or enjoy being silly, or just being adorable as always! I LOVE toys and playing fetch!! The staff told me that I am one of the most leash-trained dogs FFOA has ever had the pleasure of working with. I actually walk behind the person walking me! That sure makes me feel proud of myself. So, I have been at the shelter for some time now, probably for a few reasons: I am, of course, the big black dog, I am older, and I prefer to be the lone dog. Don't let these deter you from meeting me. I would make the perfect family dog, and despite my age, I am a big puppy who has so much love to give! Come soon. I want a family of my own. Kisses, Connor Meet Muffy—-Meow!! My name is Muffy and I am the oldest resident at Fayette Friends of Animals. The staff thinks I may be more than 12 years old. Unfortunately, I have been at the shelter since May 2013—THREE YEARS!!!! I know I am not the prettiest cat at the shelter, but I am still a wonderful girl and I really don’t deserve to live out my golden years at a shelter. Can’t someone adopt me ? I would love a warm cozy bed, some extra TLC, and also some Temptations Party Mix. ( I just love that treat) Please come soon, so I can enjoy summer lounging on a window sill watching the birds and feeling the warmth of the sun on these old bones. Love, Muffy Our Shelter Hours Mon-Tues-Wed-Fri-1:00-5:00 Sat-12:00-4:00 Contact Us: 223 Searights-Herbert Road P.O. I just want to relax, sit with you, or sit on a window sill and watch the world go by. Arrived at FFOA –July, 2013. UPATE: Our boy Major has been adopted !! This was a special day for us. Major came to us when he was just one year old and had been with us for almost 2 years!! He was never been adopted. He had trust issues and was fearful around men. We do have guys that work and volunteer at the shelter, but it would take him a little time to trust them. But thanks to a wonderful man who had so much patience, Major now has a new dad! He took the time out of his schedule, walked Major, gave him treats, and love. We are so glad that it worked out and he now has a home and no longer lives in the shelter. We wonder what Major must be thinking because he has lived in the kennel most of his life. As you can see in the photo, Major seems to have settled in very nicely. We wish you and your dad a lifetime of wonderful days. **Looking for their forever home. Some of our long term orphans** Rocco BINGO On March 5th at the Morrell Fire Hall we held our second Vera Bradley Bingo. We had over 200 people spend the afternoon with us. There were 20 games of regular bingo with purses and totes, plus 5 specials that had a nice assortment of items to win. We had some new volunteers for this event. James Adheart and his wife Andria volunteered their afternoon to be the bingo callers. Amanda Asbury came to play bingo, but helped with selling tips before the bingo began. Her daughter, Brittany Wingrove, and Kelly Cable worked in the kitchen helping Lynn and Lucinda. Robin and Carol sold 50/50 tickets and Cathy was in charge of tip boards on 3 beautiful baskets, while Tara took care of extra tip boards for a variety of Vera prizes. Carol Majernik had her table of new t-shirts in beautiful spring colors. There was a wonderful variety of food and desserts. Jenna Smalley made a beautiful cake and 4 dozen cupcakes all decorated like dogs and cats. A special thank you to all the people that donated items for this bingo and a great group of workers that worked the floor selling and calling back bingos. It was a wonderful event that help raise money for the fur babies. Thank you!! Our Upcoming Events Saturday, June 4th—Let’s go for a walk!
