Certification training is a two-part process. In part one, participants learn about health and safety basics and their duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). In part two, they learn how to deal with industry specific hazards. IAPA’s certification training makes complying with your legal obligations as easy as 1, 2, 3. 1 Start with the basics We offer three options to achieve the first part of certification: Certification Part One: Generic – a 2-day, fast track course designed for participants who have an understanding of health and safety, are familiar with the OHSA and who prefer a lecture format. Certification Part One: Manufacturing – a 3-day, interactive course designed for participants with little knowledge of health and safety. This course uses case studies, activities and discussions to make learning easy. Certification Part One: Offices – a 3-day, interactive course designed specifically for participants in the office sector. This course also uses case studies, activities and discussions to make learning easy. 2 Move on to the hazards Once participants have mastered the basics of health and safety, they are ready to learn about the specific hazards in their industry. Our two most popular courses are: Certification Part Two: Manufacturing – a 2-day course where participants learn about common hazards in a manufacturing environment and how they can be recognized, assessed and controlled. Topics include: machine safety, chemical safety, ergonomics, mechanical materials handling and walking and working surfaces. Certification Part Two: Offices – a 1-day course where participants learn about common hazards in an office environment and how they can be recognized, assessed and controlled. Topics include: ergonomics, indoor air quality, walking and working surfaces and violence in the workplace. 3 Complete the final paperwork Participants fill out the WSIB form included in their course material and then forward it to the WSIB. The WSIB will send them a card verifying that they have been certified. That’s it!
