SUMMER
2012
Welcome to our “end-of-summer” 2012 edition of Drive Products In Motion! I hope everyone has had a safe,
fun, and productive season, which should have been easy with the fabulous weather we have enjoyed across
the country for the past 3 months! Summer is definitely a good time to be with friends and family, get in some
relaxation and leisure, and enjoy exciting activities with the warm weather.
With the days now getting shorter, the evenings getting cooler, and back-to-school in full swing, it’s time to look forward to what promises to be an
exciting fall and winter season to come. As we are well aware of here at Drive Products, this is traditionally our busiest time of year, which brings
new opportunities and challenges to all of us. With our seasonal winter product lines ramping up (and secretly hoping for LOTS of snow this
winter!), expansion projects in the works with new facilities and product lines, and the overall growth of our organisation, we will certainly all be
challenged and motivated to help build our company through this demanding and exciting time.
Which leads me to reflect, with our children gearing up for another school year, on what I believe is the most important aspect of our lives today,
which is learning. Every year at this time we watch our children embark to join a new grade, face new challenges, enjoy new experiences, and gain
new knowledge. This is something I believe all of us need to practice in our lives regardless of our age. In our new global world and economy, the
ability to be flexible, face challenges, grasp opportunities, embrace change, and most importantly learn is paramount to our achievement in both
our personal and professional lives. This I believe is the best way to motivate ourselves and grow as individuals.
It is my desire and aim here at Drive Products that we foster a positive environment for everyone to learn, gain valuable experience, contribute to
our common goals, and realise their potential.
Therefore please make it your goal to learn something new, I’m sure you will find it to
be a rewarding experience.
And I’m hoping this nice weather lasts a bit longer, I could still use some time to learn
a more effective way to enjoy a beer on a patio.
Cheers,
Mike Edmonds

employee spotlight: TERRIE MCLEOD
Not one to shy away from a hard day’s work, Terrie McLeod entered the workforce while still early in her
teenage years. Having no prior experience, she relied on her strong work ethic and eager attitude to earn the
lone office position at a manufacturing company. Soon after, Terrie joined the Docap team and began what has been
a long time journey. She started in an inventory control role, spending half her days counting product and the remainder in the
office allocating and entering receivings by hand (just imagine the stacks of paperwork). When a computer system was finally acquired
(which took up a room by itself), Terrie was responsible for coding the product lines and other similar preparatory tasks.
Terrie then moved into her “career” field – Purchasing – working her way from Junior Buyer to Senior Buyer and finally to Purchasing Director in 1985,
where she was responsible for warehouse replenishment at 7 Docap locations (Calgary, Dartmouth, Edmonton, Montreal, Vancouver, and Winnipeg). She has
held that position to date.
Terrie has resided in the same house in Caledon for the last 31 years; the city in which she also met her husband Roy. Together, they have 5 boys, 2 dogs and 1 cat (but have
shared their home with ferrets, hamsters, birds and iguanas along the way). In her spare time, she enjoys gardening,
spending time with her triplet granddaughters, and staying on her live-in boat in Orillia. Terrie
intends to add at least 15 more years to the 35 she has already accumulated
at Docap, and hopes to reward herself with a mobile home. When
Terrie does finally decide to retire, she would love
nothing more than to travel through the
United States during the winter and

after 16 years with our company. A commemorative luncheon was
held at our head office to reflect and celebrate Ron’s exciting career and
long tenure as one of our most respected product managers. His knowledge,
energy, enthusiasm, dedication, and infectious attitude will surely be missed!
Graham McAllister and Greg Edmonds gave presentations, commenting on Ron’s
contributions, how he became one of the most respected individuals in our industry, and helped
make Drive Products the strong company it is today. Ron will be passing the torch to Michael
Llewellyn and Alan Robinson for his product management responsibilities. Despite these very large
shoes to fill, these “young guys” are certainly up to the task, and will benefit tremendously from the
knowledge Ron has handed down to them.
Cindy Stevens and Graham then presented Ron with gift cards to Home Depot and the LCBO, purchased with
donations from all our staff. The first to help with his expanded “honey-do” list, the latter to help him relax after
those long days!
Ron then addressed everyone, thanking them for the great experiences and time here at Drive Products, and
assured everyone he will keep in touch and come back to visit.
Congratulations and best of luck Ron, we will miss you!

SPRING OPEN
HOUSE!
Once again our Toronto East location welcomed
the spring with our customers and vendors on
Monday April 30th at their annual open house.
Our showroom, warehouse, and yard was
transformed into an expansive product showcase
and demo area for our landscaping and light
construction equipment.
Guess Who?

This new endeavour is a joint program
with Eaton to establish a retail focused
showroom environment for all our product
and service capabilities in hydraulic hose
& fittings. It is a separate showroom in the
Toronto East facility which includes retail
display shelving, service desk, customer
waiting area and viewing window into the
hose assembly area.
Big thank you to John King for working
with Eaton to establish this opportunity,
Ryan Prout for his efforts in setting up the
store, and everyone else involved.
Thank you to everyone involved for helping make
this event a success, the building looked great
and all our customers appreciated the hospitality
and the opportunity to see our facilities and
products.
In addition to this, Drive Products was also
excited at this event to mark the official opening
