Since Chicago is near and many of us have places to
stay, you have a couple of options. You can stay at the
hotel we have booked or stay on your own. Just meet
up with us. Since this trip will probably be a large group,
most meals are on your own near the hotel or at our
destinations (except for 2 breakfasts). This will save you
money. We will inform you of where we plan to eat so if
you’re by yourself…join us!
Cost: We are providing several different options
for this trip, which are outlined below. None of the
options include airfare/transportation costs to
and from Chicago.
Option 1: $1499 One photographer staying

ISO, Shutter Speed, & Aperture
Cost: $69/person
Length: 2 hours
Suggested Prerequisite: Camera Specific Class
In this two hour session we will be discussing the fundamentals of exposure:
Shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Those three features of your camera are
what make the picture look the way it does. Understanding how and when to
use them is a huge advantage. This class takes a deeper look into Program,
Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual modes. Using these modes, you
can explore the creative side of your camera while also gaining a lot of control
over your DSLR. Start telling your camera what to do instead of hoping it does
what you want.

Cost: $69/person
Length: 2 hours
Suggested Prerequisite: Exp. 101
Picking up from where 101 left off, we take
an in-depth look at how shutter speed,
aperture and ISO effect various photographic
situations. We break down difficult situations
to shoot and how to use your exposure
compensation controls to get the picture you
want. We will also talk about ‘stops’ of light
and how you can have equivalent exposures
to a scene. We explain why shooting in
Manual Mode may be the best option for
some situations. Other topics will include
how shutter speed affects flash, bracketing,
metering modes and locking your exposure.

Cost: $69/person
Length: 2 hours
Sug. Prerequisite: Exp. 101 & 201
In this hands on-class, we will continue to
explore the options available to you for controlling
your exposures. When do we want to shoot
in Aperture Mode? Shutter Priority? Why does
setting your ISO, shutter speed and aperture
manually give you the most creative control over
most photo situations? We will experiment with
the different modes by taking some photos in
the class and outside. Using your speedlight/
flash, we will explore how to balance your flash
exposure with the overall scene indoors and
outside. The instructor will give you advise and
critique of those photos as you shoot. This is a
valuable class to attend for anyone wanting to
master creative exposure techniques and to take
