ESTADO ACTUAL DEL PERÚ COMO PAÍS
ANFITRIÓN DEL MDL
•
Se ha firmado y ratificado la UNFCCC y el Protocolo de Kyoto
•
Se ha designado a CONAM como la Autoridad Nacional del MDL.
•
Se cuenta con una Estrategia Nacional de Cambio Climático y Estrategia
Nacional MDL.
•
Se ha presentado la Primera Comunicación Nacional del Perú a la UNFCCC.
•
Se ha dividido los roles de promoción y aprobación de proyectos a fin de evitar
conflictos de intereses. Se ha encargado al FONAM la promoción activa del
MDL.
•
Se cuenta con un portafolio de 26 proyectos MDL, 19 de ellos presentados en
CARBON EXPO.

•Preside la Comisión Nacional de Cambio Climático
•Es la Autoridad Nacional MDL (DNA) y coordina la implementación de
la Estrategia Nacional MDL.
•Administra el procedimiento rápido de aprobación de proyectos MDL,
de 45 días.

•Ejecuta con otras 13 instituciones el Programa PROCLIM que a
través de un sub-programa con FONAM esta generando una cartera
de proyectos MDL, presentada en junio 2004 en la primera feria de

The run of a river hydroelectric project Quitaracsa I
is located in the central Andean region of Peru. This
hydroelectric will have an installed capacity of 114.6
MW and an average annual production of
648,9GWh/year.

“La Virgen” Project consists of a run of a river
hydroelectric power plant of 50 MW capacity and it
will produce an average net annual generation of 325
GWh/year.

Umbrella Project
The Project is an umbrella project under which at
least eight run-of-river power plants will be
developed with a nominal capacity of 274 MW and
an anticipated generation of 1789 GWh/year.

The project has a installed capacity of 15.4 MW and
an annual production of energy of 58.5 GWh. The
project takes advantage of the works in the current
Poechos reservoir, and it will be built downstream at
the bottom gate of the dam.

Project - Puno
“San Gaban I” Project consists of a run of a river
hydroelectric power plant of 120 MW capacity and it
will produce an average net annual generation of 725
GWh. The project will displace a coal thermal plant
and thermal plants from the grid.

“Huaycoloro
Landfill Gas
Recovery Project”Lima
Project Description
This private landfill on which the project will be
developed receives about half of the MSW of the city
of Lima. Huaycoloro has accumulated 5 million tons
of MSW and currently receives 2,500 tons of daily
MSW. The project consists in the installation of a
methane collection and flare system.

The Portillo Grande Landfill belongs to the
Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima and is operated
under concession contract. The landfill receives
around 1700 tones of MSW daily, has accumulated 4.2
million tons of MSW and has the capacity to receive
2000 tons for the next 30 years. The project consists of
the installation of a methane collection and flare
system.

Project - Lima
The project involves the treatment of 300 tons of
MSW of the historical areas of Cusco city and
surroundings of the Vilcanota Valley, and the closure
of the Landfill of Cusco and open dumps. The project
comprises the treatment of the organic part of the
MSW through a composting plant, the recycling of the
inorganic waste, the methane recovery of the closed
landfill and the incinaration of non recycable portion
of the MSW.

The project envisions establishing a 10 MW Power
plant that will use 340 tons daily of MSW plus
Sawmill waste as fuel for generation. .Waste will be
subject to a Pyrolisis process in order to gasify all

75/80% 0f total production, all of which will be used.

Project Description
The project aims to develop a massive public transportation
system, for low income population, which will be more
economic, faster, and more orderly than the current system.
The system comprises a fleet of high capacity buses running in
exclusive roads. The system is planed to work similarly as a
metro system.
The project aims to endow a mass transit electric system, for
high density population and peripheral zones in Lima and
Callao cities; reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG),
produced by conventional public transportation units, to be
substituted by this transit electric system, non pollutant.
The main objective of the Project is to switch the current
energy generation system of the Agro industrial Complex of
Cartavio to use bagase instead of bunker oil for its process of
sugar production. The proposed project comprises the
replacement of 4 bunker boilers for a new 9 MW Acuotubular
bagase boiler of 120 TM of steam/hour.
Chiclayo Rice Hull Power
Plant
The Rice-Hull Fired Cogeneratio nproject will use rice hulls
from a cluster of 25 – 30 rice mills, which currently process
over 500,000 metric tons per year of rice. The rice hulls will be
used as fuel in specialized boilers to generate steam for electric
power production. The initial stated aggregate power output
from the plant will be 9.2 MW.
Sugar Cane Foliage for
Steam and Green Power
Generation - Lambayeque
The project aims to incorporate foliage-fuel into the Peruvian
National Energy Balance.Based on Swedish technology, whole
cane harvesting and subsequent separation and use of cane
foliage will facilitate a fossil fuel free production of sugar,
paper (from bagasse), ethanol (from molasses) and other
products.

“Oxygen Factory” project will establish 2,400 ha of
plantations, using a mix of fast-growing and high value
species, aiming to supply local industries and export high
value products to Asian and European markets. The
project activities will be developed over private lands,
with high forest aptitude.
Central Selva Climate
Action Project - Pasco
The Project consists on the reforestation of 7,000 hectares
in the Central Selva of Peru, located in the eastern slopes
of the Central Andes and forms part of the greater
Amazon River basin. Reforestation will be done in CDM
eligible areas belonging to small landowners.
Reforestation areas surround three state protected areas
with high biodiversity.
