No packages will be handed out after 9:30am Chip timing Those participating in the 5k will be chip timed!Your timing chip or "bibtag" is placed on the back of your race bib. It must be correctly worn for your race time to be accurately captured. 1. Do not remove the "bibtag" or foam spacer from your bib. 2. Do not fold your bib or excessively bend or twist the "bibtag". 3. Wear your bib on your chest/abdomen. Do not wear on your back, side, leg or arm.
Costume Contest Remember to run in your favourite animal costume! We have some wonderful prizing for the wackiest and wildest Children's and Adult Costumes! Costumes will be judged at the ​

— We strongly suggest that you plan to arrive before 9:30am. Admission Information for Race Morning Registered race participants​
receive complimentary entrance into the zoo on race day! Please have your bib ready to provide as proof of participation when entering the main gate. Spectators can enter the zoo, but have to pay admission​
. Parking There is ample parking in the zoo. Please follow the directions of parking marshalls upon arrival.
Baggage Check The only bags that will be accepted at Baggage Check must be a knapsack or smaller due to space limitations. Baggage check is at the athlete check­in area. ● Opens at 9:00am and will close at 9:55am sharp! ● Located at the athlete check­in area ● Bags will be picked up at the same location. Baggage check closes at 11am. ● Donate what you can to the Valley Zoo Development Society at Baggage Check. 100% of the donations will go to the VZDS
Start Line The start line is located in the Zoo's main parking lot. What’s Your Wild? Course Description & Maps All the courses are very scenic, however please be prepared for a number of hills! 5k​
— Start time 10:00am Beginning on the East side of the Zoo entrance, athletes will run east to Laurier Park Road. Athletes will follow Laurier Park Rd Southwest towards Quesnel Bridge (yes there's a good hill for you!) and the turnaround point. Returning the same way, athletes will turn right and loop Laurier Park in a clockwise fashion. Returning to the start point, athletes will enter the zoo and loop through all areas of the facility! If you haven't been here in a while, you'll be slowing down to check things out. The finishline is in the new central courtyard. 1k​
— Start time 10:45am. Beginning next to the finish area, athletes/animals will make a 1k loop through the park. Let's hope the zoo­keepers can differentiate between the real animals, and this wild bunch!
Course Restrictions Baby Strollers are welcome in both events, please start at the back of the groups. For the safety of all participants, baby carriers, skateboards, roller blades, animals and unauthorized bicycles & wheeled devices are not permitted in the race. Time Limits
The time limit to complete the 5k course is ​
1 hour, 15 minutes​
. Finish Line Both events finish at the same location, in the central courtyard. Please keep moving through the finish chute and plan to meet your friends & family at the designated meeting site in the post­race area. After exiting the Finish Chute participants will have access to sport drink, water and Medical attention (if required). All finishers will also receive their medal before exiting the Finish Chute into the Party Site. Post­race Site Following the race, all runners, family and friends are invited to join us at the post­race site! Celebrate with plenty of post­race food and drinks. Water Stations There will be one water station on course at the 2.5km point as well as plenty of water and sport drink at the finish­line. Washrooms Are available at the start and finish. Medical Information Members of the Canadian College of EMS will be on course and will be located at the finish line medical tent to provide first responder support. Edmonton Valley Zoo Fun Facts! ●
