the country. The basic elements responsible for the growth of our company are innovation and pioneering spirits of the
employees. In this year, special importance is given to provide
advance solutions and develop products that will enhance relationships with our clients.
We aim at providing better services in the future by developing our human resources. In the year 2012, a great emphasis is
laid upon creating innovative products and services that will
increase our customer base and also assist in retention. By the
grace of Almighty ALLAH, we have achieved high profitability
in all business segments and aim to continue with the same

TRAINING on Teamwork by NUST Business School
Teamwork is regarded as a group of two or more individuals working together and performing their duties in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of a particular task. According to research, team training promotes teamwork and enhances team performance. Meta-analysis of 45 published and unpublished studies has
concluded that team training is useful for improving cognitive outcomes, affective outcomes, teamwork processes and performance outcomes.
AGICO’s employees got this opportunity to learn about the teamwork
dynamics through a training session conducted by National University
of Sciences and Technology. The training provided benefits related to
problem solving, healthy competition, doing the same work faster
and utilizing unique individual qualities at work.
The employees gained valuable insights on teamwork and it also increased their commitment towards establishing teamwork in order to
improve work efficiency. The employees were rewarded with shields
and certificates at the end of the training session.

ON THE JOB Training Sessions
Pak Qatar Takaful
Mufti Muhammad Shakir Siddiqui has completed his dissertation in Islamic
Jurisprudence with an outstanding record throughout his academic career,
winning numerous awards. Well-versed in the sciences of Islamic Jurisprudence, Mufti Shakir focuses on presenting Islamic solutions to problems related to the modern existence, thereby applying his acumen in bringing the modern world abreast with the Shariah. He has been associated with Pak-Qatar
General Takaful Limited for the past 3 years, and provides Takaful and Risk
Management training to the Company’s employees. At the same time, he is
the coordinator between the management and Shariah Advisory Board of the
Company for all activities in the Company which have a legal bearing with respect to the Shariah, thus ensuring overall Shariah compliance by monitoring/
auditing application of Takaful to different situations.
On The Job Training
The Head of Reinsurance, Mr. Sohail Khalid conducted an on the job training for the employees of AGICO.
Mr. Riaz also gave many valuable insights to the employees regarding financial matters. Ms. Rubina S.
Rizvi, the head of Claims managed to deliver an enlightening session on claims.
Ms. Samina Khan also shared her views about underwriting and risk management which proved to be fruitful for the entire team as they capitalized on
their learning by practically applying it to real life insurance business.

CRICKET MATCH...a break from routine
Agico organized a cricket match for its employees from the Rawalpindi and Islamabad Offices. The match gave employees an opportunity to mingle and communicate in an informal setting and also helped in rejuvenating their energy level. This sort of change was considered essential for boosting employee morale and creating more camaraderie
with the subordinates and colleagues. Employees of Islamabad formed one team whereas employees from the Rawalpindi team formed the other team. Eventually Rawalpindi team turned out victorious and the team lead was presented the winners’ trophy.

STUDY TOUR to Askari Cement Wah
A visit to ACL Wah was arranged by the HR department of Agico on April 21, 2012. A team of 45 officers from
Agico were welcomed by the management at ACL Wah. During the visit they went around various sections of
the plant and were thoroughly briefed about the production of cement which could be very helpful for underwriting such risk. The participants appreciated this visit very much and felt that it was professionally valuable for them and were delighted to experience such generous hospitality on the part of ACL Wah.
