Young Hungry Bears REALLY Love Peaches
Young Hungry Bears REALLY Love Peaches By AD Lubow Xiangyuan Jie About the book Young Hungry Bears REALLY Love Peaches. This book was written for a little girl whose By AD Lubow granddad and father bravely waited side by side for a wild spirited beauty to come out late in the day in the magic hour. 1 I. O n quite a clear bird-songed, calm summer day, Something was rustling behind the arborway, And then a few leaves started shaking, Masking some bearish trading plan in the making, And there he was, forgetting everything his mama teaches, Because... young hungry bears REALLY love peaches. 3 II. O ut he came so brash, yet shy, Looking as if he’d told a lie, Slithering, sliding, blocked by the gate, Mad as a little leaguer thrown out at the plate, So plaintively he cries, sighs and beseeches, Because... young hungry bears REALLY love peaches! 5 III. A nd then he rose up on his small hind legs, And angled his head like a puppy who begs, He looked at us once, then he looked at the fruit, Soon any debate was entirely moot, He was going to eat whatever he reaches, Because... young hungry bears REALLY love peaches!! 7 IV. B ut oh that sweet scent and the way his nostrils flair it, Sweet, sugary air in a breath that can barely bear it. An aroma that signifies all that he loves, And we, the fans, regaling “how ’bout those cubs!” We trained our eyes from far afield, as from the bleachers, Because... young hungry bears REALLY love peaches!!! 9 V. A nd when like a hobo hitching on a coach, He began to pick and he began to poach, He turned to us for one more look, As if to say, “I am not a crook.” He was happy as a Frenchman with little round quiches, Because young ’ungry bears, zey REALLY love peaches!!!! 11 VI. A nd when he picked his very first prize, You could almost taste the syrup in his eyes, He carried the fruit like a groom gone elopin’, And gathered his paws on it right out in the open, Laying down in the sun like those tourists at the beaches, Because young hungry bears REALLY LOVE peaches!!!!! 13 VII. T hen we chased him away to the woods out of sight, But he came back again on the next moonlit night, And picking his fights so vicariously, He ate all the fruit and tore down the tree, Yet, sanctimoniously... like a pitchman who preaches, Because young hungry bears... they REALLY love peaches! 15 { Bonne-maman, porticos, rocks, ferns and flowers... energize a bear to sleep away the hours.} 17 P.S. { A young, hungry bear finds his hidden niche, when he stands up so tall and falls in love with a peach. } 18 George Reid About the Author Fifty years before the author of this book was born, he was painted by the Canadian artist and architect of Runamuck Cottage, George Reid.
