MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Founded on a strong value system that focuses on merit,
integrity and ethics, XIME takes pride in being a centre of
excellence in business learning – providing the industry
with managers and leaders who are well equipped with the
requisite personal and professional qualities to respond to
the challenges of modern business and industry. Famed
for its innovative practices in management education,
XIME provides its students wholesome learning in the
contemporary business environment, inculcating in them
strong business fundamentals and managerial
competencies. Differentiated programmes like the
'Socially Useful and Productive Activity', that are part of
their formation, foster in them the potential for socially
responsible business leadership, an ethos that is so much
in need at the present time.
By way of extra-curricular activities, our campus clubs provide a platform for the students to hone
their latent strengths and talents. The activities of these students clubs have also helped XIME in
manifesting a winning streak for itself in numerous inter-collegiate competitive events.
The success achieved by our students along with XIME's quality infrastructure has made it possible
for the institute to be ranked as the 13thBest in India by EdUniversal (Paris) B-Schools' ranking, 2015.
The respectable Indian Management ranked XIME (survey conducted by IMRB) among the first 25 Bth
Schools of the country in May 2015. The Week ranked XIME as the 5 best private B-School in South
th
India in 2015. Careers 360 has ranked XIME as the 18 Best private B-School in India in 2015. XIME has
also been ranked as the 12 th Best B-School in the CSR-GHRDC Survey of Private
B-Schools in November 2015.
th

THE STORY OF XIME
On 28th May 2016, XIME will complete 25 years of glorious service to the nation. It is the return of the
day 25 years ago that eight founders got together at the residence of the Archbishop of Bangalore
and signed the Memorandum of Association of this institution.
The story of XIME's journey is also one of sheer determination and grit. It has come to symbolize the
resilience of our founders, rising as it has done from its humble beginning to a world class institution
with fully residential campuses in Bangalore and Kochi and an upcoming campus in Chennai.
In founding this Institution, some fundamentals in our approach to Business Education were
constantly kept in mind:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Value-based Education
Contemporary and Competitive Initiatives
Global Orientation
Commitment to Entrepreneurship
Continued Innovation
And over the course of our journey, we have achieved most of them. But we keep raising the bar for
ourselves.
Early years were difficult – just a paltry sum of Rs. 60,000/- as the initial capital, no building or land of
our own, and no rich man in the group. But we were driven by a strong concept, a clear vision and a
passion to carry it forward. XIME's story of growth and achievement is singular, and we are proud of
it.
Some of the significant achievements during these years:
Ÿ XIME has produced in these years over 2500 brilliant alumni, who are in excellent positions mostly
in the industry.
Ÿ From a humble beginning, the Institute quickly picked up speed and emerged as one of the top
business schools of the country and is currently listed in the top 1%. The venerable Indian
Management has ranked XIME among the first 25 B-Schools of the country [May 2015].
Ÿ From an asbestos shed of 3000 sq.ft in St. Martha's Hospital compound, which was its original
abode, XIME Bangalore now operates from a sprawling campus of 1.65 lakhs sq.ft. built up area in
Electronics City, the Silicon Valley of India.
Ÿ From the initial 60 seats admission to its programme, XIME now operates with a sanctioned
strength of 300 of which 120 are from the Kochi Campus.
Ÿ The Institute's first geographical diversification was to Kochi, with a beautiful campus in KINFRA
Hi-Tech Park in Kalamassery.
Ÿ XIME's growth momentum is now taking it to Chennai, where a 90,000 sq.ft facility is coming up in
Oragadam – the automobile hub of Tamil Nadu.
4
THE STORY OF XIME
Ÿ It is such a proud and happy coincidence that all the 3 campuses of XIME are in Industrial areas
belonging to governments – KIADB of Karnataka, KINFRA of Kerala and SIPCOT of Tamil Nadu.
All the 3 locations are truly great!
Ÿ From the original faculty strength of 5, it has now a strength of 42, which includes some
outstanding professionals.
Ÿ The geographical diversity of its students is one of the best [almost all Indian States are
represented at XIME] with about 45% women, 65% engineers, and nearly 40% with work
experience.
Ÿ Our students have proved to be super performers in most of the inter B-Schools competitions.
Last year two of our students were even crowned as the 'Champions of India' in the National
Young-India Contest organized by the All India Management Association. That was a crowning
success to our young gladiators.
Ÿ We have always maintained an excellent record of placement. Last year, we achieved a record of
sorts by placing 95% of its students by July 31 with an average salary of Rs. 6.30 lakhs p.a.
Ÿ Again, last year saw XIME Bangalore receiving the coveted International Accreditation for Quality
from Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs [ACBSP], USA.
Ÿ All campuses of XIME are fully residential with every student staying on the campus. With the
completion of the Chennai campus, we will have a combined built-up area of about 4 lakhs sq.ft.
and an admission capacity of 420, making XIME the biggest private sector B-School in South
India.
Ÿ XIME has several unique firsts that include the partnership of industries and philanthropists in
building XIME's main campus: Tata Trust for the XIME Library; The Oberoi Group for the
Auditorium; Biocon for the main Executive Conference Hall; etc.
As repeatedly demonstrated in the business context, it is not the infrastructure or the capital that
builds a good organization, it is the vision, values, spirit, and the culture that truly build a good
organization. We believe we have been good at all these basics.

THE PGDM PROGRAMME
This MBA equivalent course is a two year, full-time, residential programme. This programme follows
a trimester system. The first year consists of required foundation courses. The second year consists
of a few core courses, several electives, environmental and integrative courses. Candidates seeking
admission at XIME are required to take the XAT (Entrance Test administered by XLRI, Jamshedpur).
CAT, CMAT, and MAT scores are also considered in lieu of XAT score. Based on the performance in the
admission test, students are called for group discussion and personal interview. Merit is the sole
criterion for admission. XIME does not seek or accept any donation or capitation fee for student
admissions and it does not have any system of reservations or quota.
Highlights of the Curriculum
Ÿ The curriculum is updated every two years in consultation with the industry, alumni, students
and academia.
Ÿ Entrepreneurship and 'International Business' are core subjects.
Ÿ Business Ethics is a mandatory course.
Ÿ There is a course each on 'Emotional Quotient (EQ)' and 'Leadership in Action', which include
external training components.
Ÿ A course on a foreign language: German, French or Spanish is compulsory.
Ÿ Socially Useful and Productive Activity (SUPA) consisting of attachment to a service or
developmental agency in a rural area, is a mandatory internship, to help students understand
management issues of NGOs and also to make them sensitive to social issues.
Ÿ Corporate internship is undertaken for 'on-the-job-training'.
Ÿ Focus is to develop students' analytical, problem solving, and decision making capabilities.
Ÿ Efforts to inculcate a positive and ethical outlook in students.
Ÿ Stress on 'out-of-classroom' training.
Ÿ Attention to strengthen the students' communication skills.
Ÿ Emphasis on holistic development of students.
XIME offers specialization in Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Production & Operations
Management. Students are required to select ten electives from among the four specializations.
23
UNIQUE FEATURES
SOCIALLY USEFUL AND PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITY (SUPA): Every student is given an opportunity
to work for a period of three weeks with an NGO or a government organization engaged in social
welfare. The purpose of this initiative is to sensitize the students to the needs of those who are
physically, socially and financially deprived. Through this interaction, students are expected to make
relevant contributions towards the organizations' development through application of modern
management techniques. The end result of this initiative is to lead the students to become socially
responsible citizens. Organizations like CRY, Red Cross Foundation, Dream a Dream Foundation,
Spastic Society of India are among those accepting XIME students for internship.
BUSINESS ETHICS: In XIME, this course is designed to sensitise the students to the greater longterm benefits of sustainability, reputation and goodwill that accrue to them and their organizations
as a result of ethical business practices and decisions.
INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES: As the world becomes flatter because of the surge of
globalization and technology, there is a growing need for international business knowledge and
management skills. Keeping this in mind, XIME has made it mandatory that students study a foreign
language. Languages offered are French, German and Spanish. Students also embark on crosscultural studies as well as comparative management studies.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Entrepreneurship is the seed of growth. New ventures fuel economic
revival. To keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive, the Entrepreneurship course at XIME is not optional
but a core curriculum course mandatory for all students.
CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT: This course is about being well-informed about
the changes and developments that are taking place in the corporate world around us. Students are
grouped according to specializations and senior faculty facilitate discussions, debates &
presentations.

XIMERA - OUR MANAGEMENT FEST
XIME hosted an inter-collegiate management symposium fest for the first time in 2014XIMERA'14. This year XIMERA fest is coming up with a theme of '25 years' - since the foundation
stone of the Institute was laid. This year we aim to create a unique platform to trigger a fresh
thought-process among the participants by equipping them with skills to re-look at industry
practices with innovative ideas.
XIMERA focuses on bringing out the 'innovation' buzz to newer levels with its special events.
XIMERA has come to encourage its participants to be valiant enough to take risks, vigorous
enough to persist in the face of hurdles and to have the verve to transform their thoughts to
reality. XIMERA gives an opportunity to management students from all across the country, to
express and hone their business acumen. While the core events are the Business Quiz, the
Business Plan and the Best Manager; the specialised events under the domains of Human
Resources, Marketing, Operations and Finance form the basis of the 2-day fest designed to ignite
the spark in students, to initiate actions and finally inspire people all around. However, the icing
on the cake is XIMERA's duo of Niche Events- one emphasising the spirit of entrepreneurship in
the participants and fostering their risk-taking abilities and another addressing the crucial yet
often overlooked angle of social responsibility while decision making.
Overall, XIMERA promises to become a beacon of all encompassing knowledge and in future
XIME aims to make it the biggest college fest in India.
