PRINT Stealth Cam The assignment was to develop three print ads for an outdoor motion sensor detector that is used by hunters to track game. The print ads that were developed use excellent photography to create a higher sensory of imagery and a greater emotional connection. The concept also relied on the viewer making their own emotional connection to the simple and short headline. Savannah Film Festival The assignment was to create three print ads for the Savannah Film Festival. The strategy was to take old movies that were going to be presented and show them in an inviting graphic style that had good sequence and pacing when you viewed all three. The concept was to create a retro movie poster feel that could easily be extended to an actual movie poster. The distressed retro feel is similar to Tarantino’s Grindhouse productions. Freedom Flask This campaign was for a recent start-up company that sells novelty flasks that didn’t want to be so novelty anymore. The campaign consisted of numerous banner ads, website, logo design, print ads and general branding. These two print ads are the result of just one of many ridiculous concepts that we came up with targeting male college students. The strategy was straight forward: get every college student to sneak alcohol into, well, everywhere. The concept here plays off sexual nature of not only male college students but also off the very phallic nature of the flask itself. ANCESTRY.COM HEAD: Obsess about your roots. Without the touch-up self-coloring comb. COPY: Take a more rewarding midlife-crisis path to self-discovery. Ancestry.com is a great way to learn about yourself and your past in a way that redefines you – not your coif. You can delve deep into what and who make you… well, you. Piece together your family tree using Ancestry.com’s vast library of census records including photos, birth, and death certificates. You will find a renewed appreciation for your roots - unless you discover a history of premature greyness in your family tree. There’s nothing we can do about that. Sorry. TAG: Discover Kindle Honoring the Voice. This project was designed to demonstrate the ability to develop the art direction by using long copy for the ad execution. Understanding the intentions of the copywriter, of the tone, of the voice and the brand was the key strategy. POSTER BP Oil Poster For this project the focus was on the current BP oil spill. I was to Create a thought provoking poster design using only two colors. This was an opportunity for to take persuasive skills and marketing techniques and apply them to an actual event that is affecting us now. Starbucks Free Wireless Internet The Project was to design a poster and print ad to coincide with Starbucks’ introduction of unlimited free wifi for all of their customers and not the previous unlimited wifi they offered to customers that had a Starbucks card. The advertising goal is to increase customers at Starbucks by offering unlimited free wireless internet access at all U.S. locations starting July 1st, 2010. GRAPHIC DESIGN Grotesque Blackletter A typographic exploration of unique and timeless Grotesque and Blackletter typefaces. A grid was used for the layout of the entire book. Although complex, the spreads nonobjective elements and text read quite clearly. The pages are separate yet are part of a whole. The compositional unity is due to the use of similar grids on each page and the horizontal alignments of elements from page to page. The text spreads have certain vertical rules that introduce a rhythmical series that connotate a musical staff. The page dimensions are 8.25 in by 10.75 in. The book was printed on Neenah’s Environment 100PC WHITE Smooth 148 (g/m2). The cover is Houndstooth fabric with an Unger Fraktur ampersand monogrammed on the front and a Fette Fraktur ampersand on the back. Rubik’s Cube Redesign a package of your choice of a product under $10. The design must be for dry goods and must include a die-cut. Mass production and transportation must be considered. THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN DESIGNING YOUR PRODUCT: Ability to pop off the shelf next to other products. OBJECTIVE: To understand how a package is designed and executed. To understand how die-lines are placed within the artwork. Dark Lord The book was designed as a piece that demonstrates the creative process of a project. It displays the progression from concept, lists, mind maps, thumbnails, roughs, comps and finals. It illustrates the thought process and how the project was handled from start to finish. Sundance Paper Collection The objective was to design and produce an advertisement and marketing piece for Neenah’s Sundance® Collection using a five color design to increase the understanding of pre-press printing. The strategy was to create a small book using several papers from the collection. To achieve the objective I wrote a letter set in the late 1800s in the voice of a Wyoming plains pioneer writing to a loved one back home. The color palette chosen had a dusty plains feel and the photography was compiled from previous photos I had taken. In this project I was able to have full creative control being the copywriter, art director and photographer. Titanium Logo Design FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The project was to design a logo for a commodity and not a specific product. This was extremely challenging due to the nebulous nature of target audience and desired results. The strategy was to design a logo that was ubiquitous and meaning that could be interpreted in many different environments and situations. The concept was to use the most ubiquitous typeface in the world, Helvetica, because of its neutral personality. To make the logo autonomous and to give the commodity an identity the letterforms were modified to create a continuous structure. BACKGROUNDER: 22 MOTION PANASONIC HEADPHONES Whether used to block out sound while on an aircraft or to create a tranquil environment so you can enjoy your favorite CD track, these new headphones are up to the challenge. The new RP-HC300 noise canceling headphones are designed to reduce background noise by creating out-of-phase sounds that equal the background noise to effectively cancel it. Additionally, the headphones reduce low frequencies such as the drone of a plane’s engine or a loud air conditioning unit. The noise-canceling feature can also be switched off to allow the user to converse or to reduce background noise by virtue of the headphone’s comfortable insulated housing. Includes carrying pouch and plug adapter for airplane. 1 7 13 19 2 8 14 20 3 9 15 21 4 10 16 22 5 11 17 23 6 12 18 24 MPAA This was a group project with a copywriting class. The objective was to create an interactive motion piece that was primarily typography based. The strategy was to increase the amount of moviegoers to the movies by creating an interactive element that was based in nostalgia. The concept was to use several movie quotes that were incorrect with the audio having the correct sound bytes dubbed over. The concept relied on the belief that correctly remembering famous movie quotes are far more easier in a movie theater because it is a more memorable experience. Titanium Banner Ads The project was to design two banner ads that were short and concise. They were to have a similar look and feel. The extreme size format challenge is all to common in the real world. Your client may be advertising on multiple sites with very different specs and you will need to adjust their online advertising to work in all cases while upholding their brand and current campaign. 1 6 2 7 3 8 4 9 5 10 1 CAMPAIGN Chevrolet Volt New America is about the freedom that we were inalienably given by our fore fathers when each of us were born.
