Today’s Meeting
Our distinguished speaker
today will be
Karen Kasmauski.
Ms. Kasmauski is photojournalist for
National Geographic.
The topic of her presentation is
“Making a Difference with Your Images.”
Ms. Kasmauski will be talking about being a
photojournalist for National Geographic, an
upcoming photography trip to Vietnam, and her June
2010 article in Rotarian magazine titled,
“Every Picture Tells a Story” in which she shares the
art and craft of taking pictures.
Our distinguished speaker was our very own Rotarian
Robert Bishop-Driver.
Robert joined Redeemer Lutheran Church as
Lead Pastor and has shepherded the church’s
phenomenal growth since 2006.
Announcements
The McLean Club raised more than $3,400 at its McLean
Day hamburger-hot dog tent. Led by John Rosenbaum,
more than 30 Rotarians and their families participated in
the fundraiser. The Club extends a special thank you to
Tom Mangan’s granddaughter, Clarissa, a member of the
McLean High School Interact Club, for recruiting several
of her friends to help at McLean Day.
The McLean Club recently was honored by Fairfax County
Public Schools with the Community Partnership Award,
for its collaboration with Timber Lane Elementary School.
The project, organized by Kathy Martin and in concert
with Provident Bank (now M&T Bank) provides funding for
literacy initiatives at the school. Rotarians also volunteer
their time to read to students and present books to them.
The McLean Club also supports the Longfellow Middle

as sponsoring Ethics Day at McLean High.
Next Tuesday, June 1 the McLean Club will be hosting
a Farewell Luncheon in honor of outgoing Rotary
International Vice President Eric Adamson. District 7610
Leadership and members from other Northern Virginia
clubs have been invited to attend this special event. The
Rotary International Convention will take place June 2023 in Montreal. The District 7610 Installation and Awards
Banquet will be held June 26 at the Fredericksburg
Country Club. The 2010-2011 McLean Club Officers
Installation is scheduled for Thursday, July 8 at Lutheran
Church of the Redeemer. The Tuesday lunch meeting
(July 6) for that week has been cancelled.

ROTARY’S PolioPlus GLOBAL EFFORT
1. “By the time the world is certified polio-free,
Rotary’s contributions to the global polio eradication
effort will be nearly US$650 million.
2. Since 1988, 5 million people, who otherwise would
be paralyzed with polio, are now walking because of Rotary efforts.
3. Rotary and its global partners vaccinated over 2 billion children in 2005.
4. More than 1 million Rotarians worldwide have contributed toward
polio eradication efforts.
