We are just under two weeks away from our Putting for Polio fundraiser and I want to thank you for selling tickets and promoting the event. The website is now up and fully operational so check it out and tell your friends that they can purchase tickets, raffle tickets or simply make a donation at www.puttingforpolio.org. We still need to push ticket sales and also collect additional raffle items. Please bring any raffle items that you secure to the meeting and give them to Darin or Phil. R.I. PRESIDENT GARY C.K. HUANG 2014-2015 On Monday, Linda Bertuzzi, Rachel Diehl and I were guests on Talking Solutions with Terrie Springs with Beasley Broadcasting. They own 102.7 the Coyote, 720 KDWN, 96.3 KKLZ, Old School 105.7 and Star 107.9. We recorded the show which will air this weekend on all of the stations and also had the chance to promote our fundraiser, Linda, Rachel and Geri's trip to India and the upcoming Super Build. It was all things Rotary and some incredible PR for Rotary. Once we get the link, we'll share it with you! Thank you to Lauren-Nicole Thompson, our new proposed member who did her craft talk at this week's meeting. She was born in Ecuador and gave a great talk about her life and how happy she is to be a new member of our Rotary club. DISTRICT GOVERNOR 2014-2015 Larry Skaggs Our own Brenda DiVincenzo and Kelly Thompson and District Governor's aids did a fantastic job as our program this week and discussing the District Conference in May. It's going to be an exciting weekend and the registration is now up and open on DACdb. This is something you don't want to miss especially since it's being held here in Las Vegas. Thank you Brenda and Kelly for all your hard work, dedication and for putting the conference together. Have a great weekend and I'll see you next Tuesday! Both are $10 each and we would like each member to sell $100 worth. Also, if you can provide an item for the raffle, please give it to Darin or Phil. The cost is $10 per person per round of golf. 50% of the proceeds will be contributed to Rotary's Polio Plus Foundation and the remaining proceeds go to Rotary Foundation and our club's service projects. This has such great potential to raise lots of money so please spread the word and share it with your family and friends and join us for an afternoon of fun and friendship! There is no charge to attend and there will be a silent auction. This is a great way to meet fellow Rotarians from other clubs and enjoy a nice evening out. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP as soon as possible to lvsouthwestrotary@gmail.com. DISTRICT CONFERENCE The wait is over!! Registration is now open for District Conference 2015! This will not be your typical conference. We've listened to you and have taken the time to redesign the conference. There will be workshops and discussions on hot topics relevant to Rotary, networking, and the camaraderie of the hospItality suites. Visit our Agenda page to get a peek at all the excitement that awaits you at Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino May 14-17, 2015! If you are new to Rotary or have never attended a District Conference, mark your calendars and don't miss this great opportunity! Plan on making the weekend a "staycation" and book a room at the hotel. They will go fast so don't delay! This is an international project down in Tecate, Mexico and our district will be participating and building three homes in one day. You must have a valid passport which will be required for re-entry to the U.S. To register, please click the link http://www.corazon.org/index.php/en/. Hit the "Register Now" button below the calendar of events on the home page. Change the month to May and it will show our builds. There are two homes that are open to all Rotarians, their friends and family members plus a separate one for Pasadena only. We will go down to San Diego on Friday, May 1 and stay two nights. Hotel rooms have been secured at the Quality Inn and Suites. The phone number is 619.588.8808 and the address is 1250 El Cajon Blvd, El Cajon, CA. The case is $66 per night plus tax. The build is Saturday morning, May 2nd and we'll meet at 6 a.m. approximately 15 minutes away from the hotel. We are expecting 120 volunteers and rooms go quickly. This is a really fun and life-changing project. Please be sure to register as soon as possible and get your passport updated as it could take up to 6-8 weeks to process. UPCOMING SERVICE PROJECTS Our Putting for Polio fundraiser will be our March service project. Looking ahead to April, we will once again be volunteering at the Animal Foundation's Best in Show on Sunday, April 26. Please be sure to sign up for it in the blue binder with Corina Jacques.
