Rochester Brainery allows people to connect with their community through fun, affordable and accessible classes. Each month you'll find a variety of classes on an unrestricted variety of topics. Learn from local authors, mixologists, actors, dancers, artists, graphic designers, beer-brewers, and more. Anything goes as long as there is something to be learned! The best part is? All of the classes are $30 or less! We also focus on single-session classes, so you don't have to make a long-term commitment. If you are interested in teaching a class, that is available as well. Next week Alison Rich. Charter Night for Rochester Southeast Rotary. Bill Moehle and Chuck and Marian Turner attended the Charter Night on February 23. Rochester Southeast is the 70th club in District 7120 and has 24 members. Dave ("Bippy") Boyer, formerly a member of the Honeoye Falls-Mendon Rotary Club, is serving as the club's first president. DG Bill Gormont gave a stirring induction speech and, as is traditional with a new club, presented the club with a contribution from the district in the amount of $600 to help with initial start-up expenses. The Monroe South Rotary Club served as the sponsoring club. The club meets Mondays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the PILLAR Christian Church Community, a storefront location at 46 Mt. Hope Ave (across from Time Warner Cable). Hopefully we can have a joint meeting with them some evening. Oratorical Contest: The semi-final oratorical contest was held at BHS on Wednesday February 24. The winners were: First Place - Mackenzie Orcutt, Wayne Central High School Second Place - Gabrielle Pancio, Penfield High School Third Place - Bronwen Pelish, Penfield High School They will be participating in the finals at MCC in late March. Brighton High School student Emily Dowler participated and did very well. Thanks to volunteers Tony Conte (tabulator), Chuck Krusenstjerna, Deanna Krusenstjerna and Marian Turner (refreshments and escorts), and Angela TitiAmayah and Ed Jensen (time keepers) for their excellent assistance with the event. Citizen of the Year: Nomination forms have been emailed to all club members. Please consider who you knowthat works or lives in the community that is worthy of being considered for the 2016 Brighton Rotary Citizen of the Year. Also please publicize the award with groups with which you are affiliated (faith, social, civic, professional, etc) and any social you are on. The award will be presented at a reception at the Wintergarden at Brickstone on Thursday, May 26, 2016 Next Meeting The Nomination Form and a list of past winners are on the club website (see the last page of the Brightside for the address). Monday, March 7 - Brighton Rotary meeting will be at 6 pm at the Five Star Bank Community Room, City Gate Branch, 395 Westfall Road. We will have two speakers. The first will address 21st century branch banking. The second will be an overview of the City Gate Development. Sandwiches will be provided for the meal. Please share with your friends and invite them. Please continue to consider hosting our YEX student PingPing for an evening or event. He can be reached at 585-284-0155. He will be attending the District Conference in Hershey April 29-May 1.
