SmartStrip™
SmartStrip™ Highly efficient LED SmartStrip™ provides direct and indirect lighting for signage, point of sale, under cabinet, and accent lighting. SmartStrip also has significant potential in many areas such as illumination for cold refrigeration, in-store fixtures, and wall washes and skirt lighting for architectural applications. With a wide range of colors and beam angles, all of which can be configured into longer lengths, M2 Lighting Solutions delivers easily customized lighting to enhance your image. Developed for internally illuminated signs as an alternative to fluorescent lighting, SmartStrips are the designers choice by combining low power, high brightness, “green technology,” and cost-effective 5mm LED technology. SmartStrip offers a number of key properties and advantages: • used with low-voltage, off-the-shelf power supplies. • With minimum voltage dropped across the onboard resistors, SmartStrip stays cool to the touch. • ballasts and expensive installation requiring conduit and electrical contractors. • Low color temperatures are available: Ñ 3,000-3,500 K for incadecent yellow appearance Ñ 3,500-4,500 K for medium white Ñ 4,500-5,500 K forr cool white for best color rendering Options: • in clear, round, acrylic tube assemblies. The round tube enables position adjustments to aim the light, especially useful when narrow beam LEDs are intended for wall washing. • our Cabinet Strip enclosure. • When connecting SmartStrip end to end, the effect is to put them in parallel. Wiring in series is possible, which allows use of 24VDC power. • Please consult the Applications Engineering Department for ideas to enhance your lighting project. SmartStrip™ Features • High brightness: up to 450 candelas • Easily customized for length with several enclosure options • Energy efficient • Long life with zero maintenance • Full conformal coating assures long term environmental performance – Passed Mil-Std-883 testing • Easy installation with no worries on heat sink arrangements • UL48 compliant 12V system • Single row of SmartStrip lights a 12” wide channel letter Applications • • • • • • • • • • • • • Part No. Color (X) AGI-BS-6-X A = Amber G = Green AGI-BS-12-X B = Blue AGI-BS-18-X Closed face channel letters Box signage Emergency lighting Under counter or cabinet lighting Architectural lighting Halo lighting point of sale Accent lighting Alternative to fluorescent lighting Cold refrigeration In-store fixtures Wall washes Skirt lighting Beam Pattern (Viewing Angle) Light Output (Candelas) Input (V DC) Current (Amps) Power (Watts) 30º typ 150 12 0.16 1.92 5.9” 150mm 30º typ 300 12 0.32 3.84 11.8” 300mm 17.7” 450mm 450 12 0.48 5.76 AGI-BS-6-R-YY YY for Red, AGI-BS-12-R-YY R = Red 30=30° 50=50° AGI-BS-18-R-YY 150 12 0.16 1.92 5.9” 150mm 300 12 0.32 3.84 11.8” 300mm 450 12 0.48 5.76 17.7” 450mm AGI-BS-6-W-YYZ W = White (see below for color AGI-BS-12-W-YYZ See below temperature) AGI-BS-18-W-YYZ 150 12 0.16 1.92 5.9” 150mm 300 12 0.32 3.84 11.8” 300mm 450 12 0.48 5.76 17.7” 450mm Color Code “X” Beam Angle code “YY” Color Temp Code “Z” 30º typ Length (inches, mm) R = Red, A = Amber, G = Green, B = Blue 20 = 20°, 50 = 50°, 60 = 165° 3 = 3000 to 3500K, 4 = 3500 to 4000K, 5 = 4500 to 5500K SmartStrip™ 1.Thoroughly clean the box with denatured alcohol or a similar cleaner. Allow to dry. 2.Peel the release liner off of the LED SmartStrip and adhere to the returns according to the project specifications. SmartStrip should be positioned toward the rear of the box. See figure A bellow. Adhere right-angle mounting clips as needed for tight bends. Optimum illumination requires population around the perimeter near the back panel. As the depth of return becomes greater, the placement becomes less critical (minimum return depth - 3 inches). See figure C to the right. Box Cross Section: SmartStrip should be positioned toward the rear of the letter. Acrylic or aluminum back Box face Translucent face for illumination 3.Make necessary jumps as needed. Crimps or wire nuts should be used for connecting letters and power supplies. See figure B to the right. Note: Black to black wire should always be connected; match colored wires appropriately. See figure B to the right. Note: Use silicone connectors in high humidity or coastal environments. 4.Drill secondary wire holes as needed. 5.Wire in the secondary power supply voltage. 6.Test light the SmartStrip, and repeat steps 2-5 for each.
