POLICE BRIEFS
At Gazette Press Time, Lafayette Police Officer Still Recovering
From Crash; Tahoe Veers and Strikes Officer and Three Cars
LAFAYETTE – Cpl. Paul Mouton of Lafayette PD said that on
January 28, at about 8 a.m., a Lafayette police officer was directing
traffic in the 2200 block of Johnston Street when a crash occurred.
According to officers investigating the crash, a Chevrolet Tahoe
was traveling north on Johnston when it collided with a car exiting
the parking lot of Fatima School. The impact caused the Tahoe to veer
toward the southbound lane, striking the officer and three additional
cars that were stopped in traffic.
The officer was transported to an area hospital where he remains
in good condition. Two occupants of the vehicles involved were
transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The crash remains
under investigation.
Suspect Identified and Arrested on Crime Stoppers Tip
On Friday, January 30, at about 5 p.m., Lafayette Police received a
Crime Stoppers tip regarding a potential suspect operating a vehicle
in Lafayette. The vehicle was stopped by patrol officers and the
suspect was interviewed by detectives. The suspect, Brandon Breaux
(39) of Lafayette, was arrested and charged with Simple Robbery.
Breaux was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police Investigate Mid-Day Robbery
On January 27, at about 1 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to a
robbery at the Iberia Bank, located at 3701 Johnston St.
According to employees, the suspect entered the bank and
approached the clerk with a note demanding money. The suspect
was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the building. The
suspect did not produce a weapon and no employees were injured
during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a tall thin white male wearing a tan hat,
tan jeans and a purple shirt covered with a sweater vest.
Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the

The Keg: Police Investigate Shooting at McKinley Street Club
On January 31, at about 1 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the
Keg at 115 McKinley St. regarding a shooting. When officers arrived
there were numerous people in the street. The victim was located in
the 400 block of East University Avenue.
According to the victim, he was inside of the Keg when he and
the suspect began to argue. The suspect produced a pistol and shot
the victim one time in the left leg then fled the club. The victim, a
20-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital and treated for
his injury. The suspect is described as a black male, 6-foot tall and
weighing about 300 pounds.
