Officially it is at 2 am on the second Sunday of March. Most folks just change their clocks as they go to bed on Saturday night. In March we ‘Spring Ahead’, meaning we move our clocks ahead one hour. This will give us an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day. It is great for those of us who love outdoor activities as we can get out for some afternoon/evening adventures. Coin Return “My dog ate a bunch of coins.” “We can’t do much except wait for it to go through his system,” replied the vet. The vet called the next day to ask how things were going. “No change yet,” I answered. Baseball Registration Changed The registration night for Columbia Valley Baseball has changed to Wednesday, March 9 at the Invermere Community Hall from 5 pm to 7 pm. I have written quite a bit about it, as some of you know. As it turns out, it is very hard not to be a hypocrite. I have never realized how much negative energy and how many negative thoughts I put out there. Constantly. I am pretty good at not getting frustrated with other people and their actions. I can usually catch myself and change my thought process. But I seem to be bad at judging the judgers. I will be listening to someone with an issue as they complain and I will think, “Why are you judging that person? You don’t know why or how they got there.” And then I realize that I am just doing the same thing as them. A wise friend suggested just changing the subject if I am unhappy with the current topic. Tell people something good about themselves and you can change the whole direction of a conversation. It’s tricky but effective. Enjoy life. The kids had a poem and flower pens to share with the residents. It is a nice poem: Spring makes the world a happy place. You see a smile on every face. Flowers come out and birds arrive, Oh, isn’t it grand to be alive. Thanks to the wonderful little girl who presented me with the poem (I am getting up there) and the special wish at the end that “you get to go outside and look at and smell the beautiful flowers”. Thanks to the teachers and kids for adding joy to the days of the residents. I was 8 years old when Rob and Trudi picked me up at the shelter in Creston. They weren’t given a lot of background information on me so it has been lots of exploration and lots of discoveries. I am a lot more comfortable around here now so I am happy to eat normal dog food and dog treats; I was really loving human food before. I don’t get as frightened and run away from loud noises in the kitchen anymore; Rob drops lots of stuff. I enjoy car rides but really prefer the front passenger seat; it’s nice to be scratched under the chin while riding. I am trying not to bark quite as much; sometimes the people start ‘barking’ back. I am not too big on wearing outfits; Tilly seems to love putting on sweaters and coats. And I have been loving some of the places that they take me. We were at a campground lately. It was pretty nice to have so much open space. I think they are wondering about my camping and fishing skills. I did grow up in the Creston area so they are hoping that I love it. Tilly does. We shall find out soon enough. March 10-16, 2016 TRAVEL WORLD LTD. FOR ALL YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS See it on the Internet & bring us the details. We will Match or better the price. Visitors from Sparwood, Elkford and Cranbrook joined our local juniors for the wind-up of the Optimist youth program. A huge thanks to Dave Gaspar and his helpers for volunteering to run a fantastic junior program for the last several years. It has been a great time for the kids and has produced some really good curlers. Clean Drinking Water Are you concerned about the quality of your drinking water? No Faith A climber fell and managed to grab a branch part way down the cliff. “Help, is there anyone up there?” A majestic voice boomed, “I will help you my son, but you must have faith in me.” “Yes, yes, I trust you!? “Let go of the branch,” boomed the voice. After a long pause the man shouted, “Is there anyone else up there?” Wednesday Night Trivia Are you looking for an entertaining evening on a Wednesday night? The Station Neighbourhood Pub hosts a night of trivia at 7 pm every Wednesday. The place is pretty busy as it is a lot of fun and we all like to think we are pretty good at remembering things (as it turns out I am not all that good at it). Email rob@valleypeak.ca The cost is only $2/player for teams up to six players. All the entry money goes into the prize kitty along with some sponsored prizes. Good food, good people and good times makes for a wonderful Wednesday evening.
