MOTOR CITIES WINNIES MICHIGAN Frozen Waves on Lake Michigan FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER 2015 Vol. 41/Issue 2 Well, a lot must be happening in Michigan, but no one wants to share much about it. There was a dinner on February 5th, after the Novi Camper Show. I have no idea how many went to the camper show, but a few got together at Brann’s for dinner. The only information I have is from what was posted on the WWW Website. From L to R: Bill and Char Hornsby, Bob and Jan Ziegler, Ted and Sharon Emerson, Marion and Bill Marzion and Bill Battle. Also posted on facebook, Bob Dunn showed what his house looked like after a big snow. The Ruths attended the second wedding of their son in two months. That’s what happens when your son is in the service and is marrying a girl from Canada. There you have it. All I know about doings up in Michigan. Cold, snow, sub-zero temperatures!!! The Garcias and Van Harts got together at Spaghetti Warehouse in Ybor City for dinner before the Van Harts left for a cruise. They were starting in the Caribbean, going through the Panama Canal, and finally will end up in California. Then Steve will fly back to Florida, with Marie flying back to Michigan. Steve and Marie’s son, Tony, was visiting from his job in Equatorial Guinea. Funny thing, he never got bitten by anything in Africa, but during his short visit to Florida, he got flea bites. Marie has to be the most understanding wife ever. She works in the cold climes while her husband basks in the Florida sunshine. L to R: Tony, Marie, and Steve Van Hart, Bev and Bob Garcia The Yateses, Krecs, and Garcias went to a car show in Plant City. They ate lunch at a quaint restaurant, Whistle Stop Café. They even served Cherry Phosphate for 5 cents. After they went around looking at the cars and their feet started to hurt, they returned to the Café for old-fashioned malts. There went all the calories they had walked off during the car show. Front row: Bev Garcia, Nancy Yates, and Rosa Krec Back row: Skip Yates, Bob Garcia, and George Krec Do you remember John and Sharon Hanlon? The Hennellses and Garcias went to visit them in The Villages. John is doing well after his triple-bypass. Sharon Hanlon and Judy Hennells L to R: John Hanlon, Bob Garcia, and Ran Hennells. Flea Markets are big down here. Look what Pete Emling found at one. Pete and Greta celebrated Pete’s birthday on the water. Another Pete, Pete Romanchuk and his lovely wife, Jaki, enjoy nature in Arizona. Front Row L to R: Bob Garcia, Skip Yates, Joy and Dan Stolz. Standing L to R: Ran and Judy Hennells, Butch and Becky Moore, Jim Milroth, Nancy Yates, Pat Milroth, Bev Garcia, Nancy Barnes, Gloria and Roger Smith (WWW), Rosa and George Krec, Mike Barnes, and Judy and Dick Rice (WWW). On February 26th, we had our Northern Florida luncheon at Fred’s in Plant City. It was the first day of the Strawberry Festival. They had a terrific buffet, and we were all stuffed. Most of us ended up having the one trip lunch. You got one trip to the dessert bar, and Bob Garcia figured out a way around it by getting a dinner plate and filling it with desserts. After the huge lunch, the Stolzes, Hennellses, and Garcias couldn’t pass up the strawberries at Parkesdale Farm Market. Admittedly, Dan and Joy ate a very little lunch to save room for the strawberry shortcake they knew they were going to have. THANK YOU MIKE BARNES FOR TAKING THE PICTURES AT OUR LUNCHEON!! You are in our Thoughts and Prayers I’ve gotten several inquiries about how Jim Tucker is doing. I received the following from him this week: “Got a lot going on this week. First was Jessica's birthday today. Next on the scheduled to fly out early Monday morning for what should be the last time to New Jersey. She is passing the baton to others. Tuesday I see the Doctor who did both knee replacements. They are wearing out I think. Had three MRI's an CAT scan done. Find his decisionTuesday. Wednesday I have an Surgery procedure done on my esophagus. Then on Saturday is Tristan's 3rd birthday. And they say retirees don't do anything. Since Miriam can not be here for this one, oh I forgot.. I have two kidney stones. One in each kidney.. My plate is full and my glass is spilling over. Prayers welcomed/ Love to all” Jim Milroth is walking on crutches crutches these days. He is suffering suffering with gout and is having trouble with his hearing. At least he’s in Florida. We expect 100% recovery by the time you return to Michigan, Jim! THIS AND THAT… Ran asked us what a “WIT Skinner” was. It brought many pictures to mind, but we were just talking about having a WIT Dinner. Pete Emling had an RV movie moment – on his birthday yet! He had a great day, but then went to help a friend with a sewage blockage. He’ll tell you the rest the next time you see him. Skip Yates was taken in by a sign on a car saying it was one of only 2 4-door convertibles ever made. He forgot to read on to learn that it was a “true fabrication.” (See Nancy Yates taking the picture?) We enjoyed what it said in the window of an old Ford at the Plant City Car Show.
